It was so cool to see Roy performing this song with Edu Falaschi in Sao Paulo recently after all these years, and still killing it. Also, Roy is playing with Conception (who are awesome), but he has also done a bunch of guest spots with Serenity, World of Damage, Seven Spires, Star One, and Entering Polaris (and of course live with Edu Falaschi doing Heroes of Sand).
I bet when KAMELOT (more precisely Thomas Youngblood, but also the guys in the band, once they started working on it) got the idea of "Center of the Universe", musically and lyrically, they knew they had a special, legacy-making song on their hands. And lo, it came to signal the duo of albums, bound by the Faustian story, that arguably constitute the creative apex of the KAMELOT story so far. My first encounter with this piece of music was also personally a transformative experience, one of those that go on to influence one's tastes and aspirations ever onward. Also, while I am not a great authority on the matter, "One Cold Winter's Night" must be among the best filmed and directed - and easily among the most satisfying! - concerts ever caught on camera. The angles, dynamics and dramatic staging are breathtakingly beautiful, while emotional involvement of all those present is just palpable. There must be a dozen or so more songs left for you to react to from this occasion, unless you gave in and watched the concert in its entirety (couldn't blame ya!). No imagining a better excursion through the first half of KAMELOT's history. ;)))
I was a big fan of Kamelot when Roy left the band, the fans, me included wondered who on earth could possibly replace Roy Khan, it seemed like an impossible task! then out of nowhere this guy Tommy shows up and Kamelot was reborn, this band has had two of the worlds best male theatrical metal singers, who knew there was more than one! 🙃
As for links between Kamelot and Epica, Coes played keyboards for Kamelot when Oliver and Simone got their baby, and Oliver played for Epica when Coen and his wife got their first baby. If you search UA-cam, you will find amateur videos of these performances.
Roy is in his old band conception. Please feel free to react to them here, link below. Conception has released two albums with Roy since 2018. ua-cam.com/video/ySfAt9LUN44/v-deo.htmlsi=twgBPtY6nslJgcF8
I think Roy is back with Conception now. He did sing on the latest Star One album as well. Thanks for the reaction.
Look. Tommy is great. But to me this era was lightning caught in a bottle. Kamelot and Roy were on top of the world.

Casey is a ridiculously good drummer. Always one of my favourite parts of their shows. He's now moved on to playing with Queensryche though
