I like Star Wars alot but it is the worst due to massive inconsistency and the lowest lows when compared to the other franchises which are mostly consistent.
Love them all, but gotta say The Lord of The Rings was my favourite, that was a perfect trilogy end-to-end especially watching the Extended Versions over a weekend. Of course John Williams is phenomenal with Star Wars and the rest of his scores including the first few Harry Potter films but I reckon Howard Shore’s score for LOTR was spectacular across all three films. Also loved the spectacular cinematography and how they really utilised New Zealand as an amazing filming location for the trilogy that inspired other films to film there and utilise the phenomenal natural beauty of the country which made it a huge tourism destination, for Australians we’re very lucky it’s only right “across the ditch” if we want to visit and experience the country’s beauty.
LOTR swept the Oscars and tied Ben Hur for the most wins of all time…Also first fantasy film to win an Oscar for Best picture…..I enjoy them all, but it’s not a serious contest 😂 For video games LOTR ROTK and the Third Age on PS2 were great…Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War on PS4 were excellent as well…
although LOTR is my fav, with me currently doing a shire to mordor running challenge and seeing the three films in theaters again a couple of months ago… harry potter was more of an enjoyable read for me. with harry potter, i would stay up almost every night reading until like 3am. with LOTR, it was a slog at some points :// and with the silmarillion, i had to have a map with at all times and watch chapter breakdowns explaining what happened lmaoo
I love the Extended Versions of The Lord of Rings even though I think the theatrical versions are better, with the exception of The Fellowship of The Ring where the extended version improved upon the theatrical cut where while it didn’t make any drastic changes it enhanced existing scenes and elements to flesh it out.
It’s so interesting how the lesser LOTR projects don’t bring down people’s perception of the franchise, but the lesser Star Wars projects definitely dampen people’s view of the franchise
When I was 9, star wars blew my freaking MIND, I cannot tell how how much star wars (the first 6 movies) mean to me. And a teenager I really liked Harry Potter, but as an adult, Lord of the Rings by FAR it's the best franchise out of the 3, it's just perfect.
Best Characters: Star Wars Best Battle Scenes: Middle Earth Best Music: Star Wars Best Dialogue: Middle Earth Most Consistent: Harry Potter Best Sound Design: Star Wars Best Special Effects: Middle Earth Best Worldbuilding: Star Wars Best Extended Universe: Star Wars
Nope, characters in StarWars are so black and white and one dimensional, best music? Not a chance, outside of the Imperial March the rest of the score is not a match for Howard Shores’s LOTR score. Harry Potter consistent? Haha nope, those movies were anything BUT consitent, LOTR wins again since the three films were filmed back to back and the source material was always there whereas Lucas just made up SW as he went along.
@@ashjcoronado Most of this is petty debatable but you are smoking something on the best music part. 99% of the soundtracks of the 6 Lucas Star Wars Movies is phenomenal and memorable and fitting of the scene. For Lord of the Rings, only about 75% is distinct and memorable, which is still excellent, but not on Star Wars’ level. And the Hobbit music was pretty forgettable overall.
@@dankairgadam8841 LOTR has a better score. It was voted the best film score of all time by classicFM listeners for like what, the 8th time or something.
@@avidfather1864 Disagree but to each his own. Lord of the Rings has several tracks like the Rohan theme which is just ok not great, or that stupid song that Pippin sings in Return of the King that I’ve never cared for. The only tracks in Star Wars that aren’t great are the Lapti Nek song in Jabba’s Palace which is just ok or the Jedi Rocks song in the special editions which is terrible. All the other music in Star Wars is either great or phenomenal.
What's the best stand alone fantasy though!? I'd have to go with The Princess Bride but shout out to labyrinth or Willow. Does big trouble in little china count as a fantasy? 😆
Lotr has the gen 2 console games two towers and return of the king, and the third age, and the shadow games with Talion and the battle for middle earth game was pretty good, so id say their track record is okay with games... Gollum isn't real.
Best Fantasy Movie Franchises: 1. Star Wars (Episodes 4 & 5 are perfect, 3 & 6 are great, 1 & 2 are good) 2. I kinda think harry potter villains are trash, Umbridge is good.. thats kinda it. Voldemort is so goofy evil its hard to believe he actually manages to get anything done. Dementors are pretty cool, but they're more a magical creature than a legit villain
The Lotr glazing this episode is respected but a bit ridiculous! John Williams score changed cinema. Without his score the movies would have been lesser. Costumes!! Lotr?!!! Over storm troopers, Darth Vader, every villain, + lightsabers. Cmonnnnnnn unsubscribe!! Kidding.. who else would I watch Sunday morning delivering me all the news I need.
Harry Potter. Because it's just the real world with a few slightly weird fellows and some slightly weird occurences happening occasionally. Do not presume to become a wizard. Just like I wouldn't presume to become a Jedi (and thus probably end up in slavery on Tatooine or something) or a happy little hobbit (and possibly end up an orc, bleh). Of all the three worlds, Harry Potter's is the closest to ours AND the least likely for you to end up in a disaster.

Snape definitely counts as a villain, at least for Harry personally-he bullied him a lot and was really mean. This is underplayed in the movies, in which he’s basically no more than strict teacher. In the end he was a hero (or maybe more of an antihero), but that doesn’t excuse the way he treated Harry and others. Also Morgoth created the orca, not Sauron, and you kept mispronouncing Lucius.
