I own the original F-Zero on the SNES. I played this when I was young and improved my track WRs many times. When I see you play I remember I played with the same style as you and with the same "car".

You can get an increase in speed when you hit jumps holding the down button. You would top out at 478 kph in the air. Only the fire stingray can reach this speed naturally but if you get those jump boosts you can reach that speed easily. It's the best for pure speed and the best handling, but it's the worst in acceleration. My favorite car was always the wild goose. 2nd in speed and handling and to me the most balanced.
Wild goose is slept on. It's not the best at anything except durability. That makes it the worst car in game and the sandbag of all your choices in the SNES version. But this ISN'T the SNES version. Here, one ko gives you MORE health and heals you to full. That means in a GP, your role is an assassin. Get kos, become literally unstoppable and boost like crazy while killing every single person that made the mistake of smoking within a 50m radius of you.
It'll be slower for the first couple of races, but after you get about three ko's, you are a literal nightmare. You're always boosting, you're nearly indestructible, and all it takes is one nearly dead player and you're back to full.

As I could see and also remember how things were in the original game, I would assume this:
- Falcon and Goose are the Speedters, so your energy basically should go to defense and recovering from sharp turns as those cars usually fail on that. Also I saw that they recover less energy than the other two.
- The other two are more the Gambling type. They recover energy fast, have a nice turn and accel, but they suck in the speed department. For these ones you would have to use your energy as much as you can in simple tracks with long straight roads and use also use the highway in the same manner. Sharp turns are their specialty, so for those snow and serpentine tracks are the best if you know how to use them.
-The boost... It's already being two days and I've seing lots of kamikazes using boost just because they can, or without looking at their energy and end up exploding even at goals door. Yes, you need to risk it sometimes, but please... learn to use boost wisely people, or you will lose more than a GP because of it.
I have no idea what you are talking about as each machine had their specialty.
Blue Falcon is an allrounder with average stats on everything.
Golden Fox has the highest acceleration but also the lowest end speed and the least durablity.
Wild Goose has the highest durablity but lowest acceleration. Useless in the original, but in 99 it can go for KOs and get the boost from the KO energy refill.
Fire Stingray has the highest top speed with good grip. but due to its also rather low acceleration it excells more in straights. Also reasonable durable.
So yeah, those you categorize as having sharp turns their specialty are actually the ones having the most problems with them simply because their acceleration sucks

...and dedicated servers. MM2 does not have dedicated multiplayer servers, and so everyone goes the speed of the slowest internet connection playing.

Not like he's bad. It's the easiest track so the ones who aren't good at the harder tracks are still able to keep up, meaning there's also lots of bumping and skyway usage. Basically because it's the easiest track it's hard to consistently do well on it.
For those watching and do not know this,, You can pull back on the D pad before you land and soften the landing. It will stop the damage and stop the speed reduction.

I know you probably won't see this, but it needs to be tested: I think you get more skyway if when it runs out your cart is not above the drivable track, so staying on the outskirts of the skyway should extend it, imo. Thanks, love you bro
I've noticed that sometimes the meter is out but I still stay on the skyway for a while sometimes. The timing seemed to be when the skyway was above really curvy sections or outside the track like you said.
For sure the meta will be timing when to use that ability to extend it or skip slow sections of the track

Yeah it's called skyway extensions, one is on sand ocean just after the first sharp corner. Another big one is after the first turn in port town 2 to my knowledge

I just noticed that the final tracks like Silence are not made for the 99 mode.
It's A. because the track is not widened Like the other tracks from the original game and have the 99 player starting line.
And B. They never appear in any other mode other then Grand Prix with 20 players left

The fun with F-Zero 99's blue shell system is that it's entirely skill based, and not something some other player fires at you to mess you up.
I have absolutely been turned into a pinball that even bunny blasting doesn't fix when skyway cars are dropped on top of my head. xD

Watching you play this is a lot of fun, and I also hope that it continues to be popular, at least for a good while.
One thing I hope they do, though I am sure they'll think it's not necessary, is more units. F-Zero X was made for tbe N64, bit its sprites still didn't look THAT different, and I'm sure they cod make said sprites look appropriate to this game, if they wanted to. Sure, the four are fine, especially with the color skin, decals, abd such, but with 99 cars on the track, a little more diversity of appearance could still be good?
I'm also looking forward to when the other tracks unlock. Death Wind 2 is a harder version of that windy place, and Fire Field used to be the high point of the King League!

You need to hold down while falling from a ramp jump. Otherwise you crash a little on the landing.
I think the red explody cars are the perfect "blue shell" mechanic. They are something that puts pressure on the lead and gives them an extra thing to have to work around, but it relies on skill. Its a FUN mechanic to deal with in the lead, where as the blue shell is just an auto lock GG, not fun at all. I really wish nintendo didn't drop f-zero, just a great game with so many directions it could go.
They might be using this to measure interest in the series. Honestly though, even if they did make a new F-Zero, can they even make one compatable to GX? Maybe if they took GX as a base and added from there, but probably not if they head into a different direction since GX is pretty much the pinnacle of perfection as far as racing games go and how they feel.

Something that would help this game have longevity would be like 2-week seasons with rewards for getting to S+ rank, like you get a 10% damage reduction from bomb cars or immunity to magnets or something like that for the next season if you get S+.

Ryu needs to learn how to properly dish out some damage. Lots of missed opportunities where he can wreck some havoc. Especially in team battles where getting some KO's and spin points are far more important than a good final placement. Based on placement scores are usually similar since both teams are usually spread fairly evenly in terms of positioning, so KO's, damage and spins is where the wins come from.
