In 2nd generation, you have initially set up your android box with Google home app or manual wifi choose and passcode, but it has troubles connecting any networks and we allway ger "Cannot reach the internet". It seems that the doesn't obtain the IP Range frome any router, so you cannot make your android box start. What's te solution for it?

The comparison between all devices xiaomi tv s, nvidea shield tv and pro would be nice, specially comparing if possible streaming services(Netflix, Prime Video, UA-cam and Disney+) ability to pass through Dolby Atmos audio. I have an AV Receiver capable of Dolby Atmos Playback and with a Xiaomi TV Box S (2nd Gen) I'm only able to play Dolby Atmos in Netflix, so I would like to know if that's an app problem or is it a xiaomi issue.

I just want to check after watching the videos and content, Should I turn off the mi box just like my Normal TV from the main switch or I can just use the remote control to turn the device off. Actually, thorough the remote control power button feature, the main light is kept on, please advise what is d best practice in this matter? Thanks in advance..

The Mi Box S consumes around 2W of power when idle and only about 1W when on standby/sleep mode. It's very minimal if you ask us and if you're using the device everyday, it's might be more of a hassle to turn it off from the main switch and wait for it to boot up every single day. But of course, if power consumption is your concern, you may want to turn it off from main switch to ensure that there's no power draw at all. For our case, we only use the remote control to turn the device off.

yes same issue for me, before the update 1st gen was fast and have no stutter on streaming. after the update using Kodi app 4k streaming now stutters and it's so inconvenient to use
Will probably go for MeCool KM6 Deluxe with wifi6, 4 times more storage and additional usb 3.0 port, though price is 20-30% higher with no local warranty. In comparison the xiaomi box S 2nd gen specs feels "restricted".
But with no Google certificate right? No all aps vod goes 4k? Xioami does. All codec like DTS, dd atmos, av1 etc. All here.

Hi! Happy to report that the old remote works on the 2nd Gen box. We were able to pair the Mi Box S remote with the 2nd Gen box. We will post a video on how we did this.

If you're really happy with the performance of your current device then there's no real need. You should only upgrade if you need better performance or if you require the newly added features such as IR functionality, dolby vision support, etc.

Yes. When we searched NBA in Play Store, it showed "NBA: Live Games & Scores" app in the results.

Yes you can. We mentioned this in the other video in our channel - "Xiaomi TV Box 2 2nd Gen - Watch Before You Buy!"
What about autoframerate?
Unfortunately, auto framerate doesn't seem to be working based on our initial tests. It works fine in our Mi Box S but not on the Xiaomi TV Box S. The good news is this feature was just added to the Mi Box S in one of the later updates so it's possible that this will also be enabled for this device in the future. At the moment, we wouldn't recommend upgrading to the newer device if you require auto framerate. We're currently preparing another video to provide additional information and to share our experiences after using it for a couple of weeks.

Yes. The Mi Box S doesn't support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The newer Xiaomi TV Box S 2nd Gen support them though.

I have the Mi Box for years but lately everytime I turned it on I have to manually update the date and time, otherwise the wifi although connected has no internet. It's starting to irritate me. Also, when watching UA-cam, the screen freezes but the sound continues. It's been happening a lot lately.

Yes. You can install apps from unknown source by enabling it in the settings. We have installed retroarch using this method.

Can I use the usb port of this tv box for external hdd driver with capacity more than 4Tb ?
We don't see why it won't work. As long as the higher capacity HDD is self powered (with its own power supply) then you shouldn't have any issues. The HDD Filesystem format is the more common reason why it fails for most people. We have tested NTFS, ExFat, FAT/FAT32 with various HDD drive sizes and they all worked!
Sure can and even USB hub then corded old xbox360 controller,1 USB for extra memory, and 1 extra for apps. The ultimate box basically. N it works flawless if you have IPTV and tivimate with recordings jus so u know
The remote is always lagging i hate it. The old one had no issues like the new one. Anyone know what to do?
We haven't experience this in our unit. Albeit, the remote from the new one is a lot snappier than the previous gen. We noticed though that our remote asked for a firmware update the first time we paired it. Can you check if yours is updated? Our says the remote firmware version is 13.7.0.7.

May software update na narelease recently for 1st gen at naimprove yung performance ng UI. Kung malaki difference ng price, ok pa din yung 1st gen for general use :) Pero kung may budget, worth it din yung 2nd gen (better in the long run).

The old method of hard reset through recovery mode via remote doesn't seem to be working anymore. Until a new method is discovered, factory reset can be done through the settings -->
Settings -> System -> About -> Reset -> Factory Reset

@@rodion51 Thanks for sending the video. I understand your problem a bit better now. I just don't know at exactly which specific screen are you having problem with because it is in Russian. Anyway, if you have one, maybe you can try completing the setup using USB keyboard? If you can finish the setup process and go to home screen, maybe you can try to perform the Factory Reset from the settings menu.

Пробовал подключить к компьютеру через usb папа папа. Что бы зайти в рекавери. Но компьютер не видит приставку (((( может надо разобрать её и зажать какие нибудь контакты на плате???

It does! Android TV officially supports Arabic. Also a fun fact, our review unit was officially purchased from Dubai, UAE :)
Can I install telegram app?
You can sideload any APK the same way it is done in other Android TV boxes. Please make sure that you're installing safe and legit APKs though. We were able to sideload Telegram from an APK downloaded off the web.

Lets be honest, there no real difference here between the old one and 2nd gen. Sure CPU and GPU, small changes. Even the old version has Google TV upgraded now. Why buy the 'upgraded' version if the old one works perfectly well? Xiaomi shot themselves in the foot here by offering a rebranded box, even looks the same
Dolby vision and hdr10+ support, dts hd audio codecs. Better processor and gpu.
No need to upgrade unless you need the extra audio and video codec support. I have a new oled tv and my 1st gen doesn't support dolby vision, hdr10+ and lossless audio. Many 4k debrid files end up being displayed green or very dark as 1st gen can't properly decode the files. The second gen can.
