man l can't believe that l ,an emotionless robot-like man, actually cried for almost 20 minutes at lancer's death
    it's just too tragic

    Being a lancer is suffering.

A fact that serves to make them more endearing, if nothing else. >.

I don't think it's correct to say that Caster is more central to the plot than Lancer. One of the other primary purposes Lancer's team served was allowing Saber a better understanding of her master's way of fighting , as well as developing their dichotomy upon Lancer's death. That moment is one of the main tipping points that gives us first look into the kind of person Kiritsugu is that we haven't gotten yet. And every moment between Saber and Lancer is imperative build up to that moment.
Caster's primary purpose to the plot, due to his only relation to Saber being mistaken identity, is simply to move the events of all other subplots along simultaneously. Even his first and final fights in the war act as a springboard for Saber and Lancer's developing relationship. I won't say that he isn't important, but certainly not more than Lancer, who's story is thematically tied with that of the themes of the over all narrative.
Good video all and all, though

I don't think Lancer died "dishonorably" due to anyone's incompetence, if anything it was Kiritsugu's competence that lead to his forced suicide. While Lancer didn't deserve to die how he did, he was never going to survive the war anyways. He's good with weapons and Gáe Buidhe's healing restriction is dangerous, but there's nothing he could do against the likes of Gilgamesh or Iskandar, even Arturia and Berserker could have probably killed him in a 1v1. Besides, Kayneth isn't incompetent, he's just arrogant with shit luck.

yeah, now that a year has passed, one of my regrets regarding the scripting of this essay is using the word “incompetent” to describe Kayneth. It’s not a question of competence, as, indeed, he’s likely the most talented magus to compete in the war, sans perhaps Tokiomi.
Rather, it’s more about being excessively rigid, and refusing to consider non-magi tactics when planning his strategy.

That was a faster response than I expected but I do agree. If he hadn't decided to do the evil villain walk with his Volumen Hydrargyrum against Kiritsugu and had considered the "Magus Killer" a threat the war would have been very different.

Although...I do believe that from what we saw from the first duel of Arturia and Diarmuid...he would likely have won and killed saber if there had been no interruptions.

@@thetakenaxis3401 yeah in a strategic fight he would've beaten her
But iskandar had to interfere in their first fight and caster had to interfere again forcing lancer to lose his strongest spear
