I got a Casper bed and love it. They have a 90 day return policy. Not an add. I had an old mattress from the late 1990's that was falling apart. Casper was easy.
I went to a cheap store with no fancy stuff and bought a nice floor model for 700 dollars. What’s more, it was not from one of those big companies. Two years later and perfectly satisfied.
Honestly, the best beds I’ve ever had were those super cheap ones you get from the mom and pop shops where the mattress and frames altogether come to like £120. Hell, on bed frame/mattress combo I had was £70 for the full thing
When I had my first apartment, I slept on an air mattress that leaked air and once it completely broke, I slept on the floor with a camping pad with 4 1/2 hours of sleep working 84 hours a week and I actually had a better night of sleep on the floor than I did on a mattress
You should check out smaller manufacturers, not the ones you see everywhere because they have huge marketing budgets! We got a wool mattress on Etsy and it's amazing!
I used to sell Simmons Beautyrest Mattresses at a retail store. I wish we had a product we could sell at 50% or75% profit because I was paid a commission calculated from the gross profit earned by the store. At the time all Simmons products generated 35% GM and that was enforced by Simmons. At the time all they manufactured was the Beautyresr. Simmons was bought in 1979 and that’s when they started selling low quality stuff but still put the Simmons name on it. Except for the Beautyresr line. You can still get ‘em if you go to the right store. Currently about $4000 for a king size full set up. Worth it, though. We just sold the set we got when we were first married 40 years ago and got another one. I guess I’ll die in this one.
I Sell mattresses at a family owned place and these chains are a nightmare. If you have a local manufacture of mattresses near you, definitely check them out. no where near as confusing. One of my clients does research for a living, and mattress shopping even confused her. Absolutely true that they make different types for each distributer so you cant compare prices. Its insane. Next time your at a mattress store, ask about 2 sided (Flippable) mattresses and see what the sales rep says. most of the time they say its illegal to sell 2 sided mattresses, but that is a lie.
You want to know how to buy a mattress? Ok. Look up foam supply store on google. Don't buy a "mattress" buy a 3x7ft slab of memory/poly foam straight from the supplier. Honestly, since Casper and the cartels have gotten on the scene, foam suppliers have dried up a bit, but it's still so much cheaper if you can find one.
Hammock are better than any mattress I've tried before. You can even make your own hammock. You can set it up using a stand too if you don't want to drill a hole in your wall
At least with cars it is understandable because they are machines that help you move around quicker. But with beds they are literal giant pillows that are marked up $1000.
The real question is, why does my region have 20 mattress stores? Every 2 years one store goes out of business and another two pop up in the same area.
And here I am, sleeping on two foam pads on a cot. 😂 But seriously, I recommend IKEA. You can easily try out different mattress types that are clearly labeled, and the prices won't break the bank.
Actually, there is something you can do. Just don't buy a mattress! You can just put outdoor patio cushions on a table and sleep on that. I use 3 cushions from Goodwill - the total was around $6 - and a strong folding table from Walmart - around $20. A complete bed setup for $26! It doesn't feel much different than sleeping on the full box spring and mattress combo.
So I bought a regular mattress a few years ago in store and a Casper mattress online recently. They are absolutely not the same. Casper is memory foam, that's how it's able to be rolled up and shipped. You can't do that with a coil spring mattress. Oh and you can definitely try most online mattresses at stores. I tried a Purple at a mattress firm location. Speaking of which, even those online mattresses are completely different. Casper is straight memory foam. Purple has this weird gel layer that, if thick enough, almost feels like a water bed. Not everyone's cup of tea but also not the same as a typical mattress.
I bought a Mainstays full, 8" memory foam mattress from Walmart for like $140. It's the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on, and the price was good, too.
Among most of the direct-ship mattresses within similar price points, purple ranks the lowest. I don't know too much about them, but many complaints seem to revolve around the "purple" materials not being properly sealed within the mattress.
So biggest thing they got wrong in the video is when the Casper mattress box showed up. I work as a dock worker for a courier company that deals with Casper and there is no way she could lift let alone throw a box with a Casper mattress in it. Those suckers weigh a ton.
Then there's us who can't buy new and get second hand ones. My bed is second hand framed matress with a second hand cover matress. I mean. Best way to find beds and parts of that is to just check second hand stores, sales at the physical shops and if the recycling centre stores matresses inside, go there. In many cases all you need to do is to use steam cleaner and air the heck out of the matresses. At least here in Finland all that is possible. I don't think that many buy matresses online here. We tend to say "Do not buy a pig in a sack."
The best mattress for the money cost me $200 off of ebay or Walmart. It's their memory foam mattress that's around 8" thick. The other mattress I bought that I think is best but is more pricey happens to be purple first gen.
I’m one of those people that could and have slept on the floor because I like something super firm. Had to buy a new mattress for a new bed. Dad says pick anything look at all these things in the one. I’m like ya no to much for me I want it cheap and hard. I pick out the perfect one it’s like 150 and hard as a rock. Sales person goes off on how if I want a firm one she has a better one for me. It’s like $500. Dad says perfect (he’s paying) I say hell no I want the cheap one. Over an hour later sales lady and dad trying to convince me that the more expensive one will be better for me. In the end I leave with my cheap and hard mattress happy as could be.
But one thing they forget to mention is that Casper and other online places offer a trial of the mattress and let you refund it fully if you don't like it.
Because most mattresses are basically the same. Once you have it in your house you'll likely use it. If they were getting any significant returns they'd stop this at once.

3:19 hilarious!
You know, I'm glad that I decided to just get a japanese futon to replace my matress after I had to toss it.
The best mattress for the money cost me $200 off of ebay or Walmart. It's their memory foam mattress that's around 8" thick. The other mattress I bought that I think is best but is more pricey happens to be purple first gen.
Mattress shoping is a thing that needs to be done like every five years. You don't need to be an expert on it.
why every 5 years? if you have a durable mattress you don't need to get a new one for like 30 years! maybe more
I’m one of those people that could and have slept on the floor because I like something super firm.
Why did Adam turn into SCP 096 at the end?
Anyone else concerned it took him more than 30 seconds?
I got my queen sized bed with a bed stand from another person for $25
0:59 to 1:24 What is that music?
But one thing they forget to mention is that Casper and other online places offer a trial of the mattress and let you refund it fully if you don't like it.
Because most mattresses are basically the same. Once you have it in your house you'll likely use it.
If they were getting any significant returns they'd stop this at once.
ngl, I kinda expected an expert to come out of that online ordered mattress package
