And almost all Christians believe that everything that happens to them is God's will. Does God's will always happen on the Earth? All the more reason to keep myself close to our Savior, & Pure .. to fall on my knees & repent my smallest deviance, or wavering unbelief .. which He is faithful & just to forgive & cleanse, + Heal. God grant me Grace to be sensitive & responsible to Him, vigilant & zealous for his beloved Saints ( present & prospective) .. courageously engaged in the redemptive cause of our Good Shepherd. The gates of Hell cannot prevail against the Ekklesia of Holy God .. if his Children might thru us yet hear his entire Gospel truth, repent our complacency (unwitting or not) & Grow up into our High Calling ! Like statements we hear everyday from people, we look at the situation or context if we wish to have accurate determination. The quote in question is the last line of an occasion where Jesus was giving the disciples a picture of the (national) unbelief of Israel through the fig tree that would hence bear no more fruit. The disciples were marveled and puzzled so Jesus prophesied that they would take up a mountain and cast it into the sea. Again, this is a picture, not a literal, and it relates to the disciples "upending" Israel's religious establishment through the gospel. Finally He gave the 21:22 statement. The context already limits this statement about prayer to the disciples' relation to Israel and their (upcoming) promulgation of the gospel message to Israel. So it meant that they would have receptive help in all things they asked in relation to their ability to witness to Israel. Can't take quotes from the Bible, a politician, a textbook, or anywhere else without due consideration to the occasion of why something was said.

Someone complaining about evil without an objective basis of morality is very absurd. It is like a person who says the building was built wrong without having a blue print.
The irony of someone saying I don't have enough FAITH to be an ATHIEST...I WOULD TELL THEM A THIEST WITH OUT ENOUGH FAITH TO MOVE AN A OVER ONE SPACE TO THE RIGHT, THEN YOUR FAITH IS WORTHLESS
This is genuinely the guy who wrote a book thinking atheism needs faith, so he has no understanding of the topic. Morality is a huge problem for religion.
@@Mooskellunge That's a false dichotomy you've set up there. No, I haven't read it, but the title contains the nonsense that atheism requires faith, so would it really be worth reading? Also if you watch him try to defend it at talks in the Q&A he has nothing to back it up and is easily exposed.
There is no objective moral standard. Moral Realism is completely false. You require alot more faith to be a theist, than to be an atheist. You have to believe minds are substances that exist unembodied that speak and has magical powers that create distinct substances out of literal nothingness. Energy, space did not come into existence. also, no you dont need a programmer for their to be order or causality and functionalism explains what life, the mind and consciousness is. They are simply a set of functions. Laws are not immaterial, they are products of changes that substances undergo.
He didn't answer a thing. Just made many assertions and focused on persecution in this incomplete video of the talk. Post the whole thing, otherwise this only begs more questions. Us Christians aren't the only ones who suffer evil ..so how does "we weren't told we'd be protected, we see we'll be persecuted" help those outside of the religion? Evil isn't just on the religious....evil doesn't care about all that, evil is a HUMAN problem in general. Animals deal with their own.
If u guys say well god can't control everything well god made the universe is what you say so if he made the universe why can't he make it so he controls the universe
"Why does God allow evil"? Because he's allowing us humans to try and do things our own way without him, but we're failing miserable. Once God is satisfied that we've learned the lesson that we can't live without him, he'll step in and completely stop all evil and undo all injustices and bring everyone back to life, and then he'll say, "Ok now lets try it my way."
I like your reasoning. This is a tough one. No christian or religious person can make a logical argument for this. I think of the Jews that died in AUSCHWITZ and all the other camps. How they must have prayed. Ironically God had a reason to intervene during the construction of the tower of Babylon but not on this occasion???.
Tom Foolish When i say God will undo all injustices i mean he will bring back to life everyone who has died, including those who died in Auschwitz, for a chance to live again right here on earth. Everything i say can be backed by scriptures if you'd like to see it.
The scriptures say that??. They shall be brought back??. Superman and batman - the Hollywood fictional figures would not have let Hitler get away with it. Despite their meager powers compared to the almighty God. In summary :- Is God unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful. Is God able but unwilling to prevent evil, then he is not all-good. Is God both willing and able to prevent evil, then why does evil exist? If you can logically answer those questions then you can convert me to Christianity or a believer in deities. While you are at it read GENESIS 3:22 and explain to me what type of a petty God this is.
@Tom Foolish.. I'm glad you mentioned the story in Genesis because that is the reason God allows evil, death and suffering. God made Adam and Eve without blemish meaning they would have never got sick, grew old or died. But he also gave them free will to choose to obey and love him or not. If they were forced to obey and love him then they wouldn't have free will and the love wouldn't have meant anything. The tree in the Garden of Eden was a test of their free will. It represented God's right to be ruler and he is the only person who can rightly say what is right and wrong since he created us. God laid one command on Adam and Eve and warned them that they would "positively die" if they ate from the tree. When Satan deceived Eve through a snake, and Adam and Eve ate from the tree, all 3 of them raised the issue that God doesn't have the right to be ruler. Old age and death was caused by Adam and Eve when they disobeyed because they now passed that imperfection on to everyone else. God could have just wiped them out and started over with 2 new humans, but that wouldn't have settle the issue. So God basically said "OK, you think you can live without my guidance? I'll allow time to let you try." But when we look back through history, we can see humans have failed at governing themselves and humans have caused much of the suffering in the world. The day that they disobeyed, God set a plan in motion to undo what they did. Thats where Jesus comes in. He came to get back what Adam had lost for us humans. The day is coming soon when God and Jesus will undo death, suffering and all of mans problems. Anyone who has died for any reason will be brought back to life on earth for a chance to live again, including sinners. (Psalm 37:29; Acts 24:15; John 5:28+29) God didn't create evil. Its the result of free will. So God is able to prevent evil he just chooses not to right now and he knows he easily can undo all of the injustices evil has caused. God is also willing to prevent evil because he has promised to end evil once he is satisfied that we have learned our lesson that we can't live without him. God has also stopped evil in the past with the Flood and at Sodom and Gomorrah. So now, how do people like Hitler fit into all of this? The Bible doesn't say exactly who will be brought back to life. Only Jesus will decide who is worthy of a second chance. It would seem to us that someone like Hitler isn't worthy, but we have to leave it to Jesus to decide. If Jesus decides not to resurrect him, he will be erased from existence. Either way, *all* of the people he killed or people like him killed, will be brought back to life in a new body. They will all have a chance to live forever, so what Hitler did to them will seem like nothing after they've lived a few hundred years. There's obviously way more to the Bible than this. If any of this doesn't make sense I'd be happy to explain more. By the way, I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Jehovah Witness???. Yeah I could almost tell when you resulted to preaching. Word of advise don't ever preach to an atheist. spewing a lot of words from the bible. The bible doesn't make a whole lot of sense to an Atheist in the first place. when I speak back to you I may quote the bible coz that's the language you understand. QUOTING IT BACK TO ME IS JUST GIBBERISH. Not unless you quote an obvious fact like "DO TO OTHERS AS YOU LIKE THEM DO TO YOU". Some verses like that. Sermons on the mount or something. Have you ever read Genesis 3:22???. Go read it right now and tell me how it fits in that nonsensical story you have spewed in the essay above.
It's actually NOT that difficult to see how this fake conundrum came to be. "In the beginning" (of the career of human beings as a species), nothing was known about the world and our place in it, nothing was known in regard to the causes of events, everything was mysterious and terrifying - disease, natural disasters, lack of resources - we were just starting to figure things out from scratch. It's a natural human tendency to anthropomorphize, so it was only natural that we'd invent "gods" who were responsible for various phenomena, whom we could petition by various means to provide conditions that were favorable to human flourishing. Of course, since this was a misconstruing of the true causes behind perceived effects, it wasn't an effective "science" - people got what they asked for from their gods at a rate identical with what they'd have gotten if they'd left it to chance. Yet they'd invented the gods, so they had to invent reasons for being failed by them - and thus, in one of the worst moments ever in human history, the notion of "sin" was born. "We've offended the gods; it's OUR fault that disaster has befallen us." And thus we get all the elaborate systems of taboo and sacrifice that are still enshrined in religion. "How do we make it right with the gods? Let's give up the things that are most precious to us [e.g.], offer them to our gods, so that they'll protect and favor us." Hence desperate notions like that of the sacrifice of the first-born - "Here, take this one, and leave me the rest." This way of thinking is portrayed with startling clarity in the Hebrew Bible - Jerusalem is invaded and destroyed as a direct consequence of Israel having fallen away from God. Over and over again, all the disasters that befall the Israelites/Hebrews are attributed to their religious waywardness (rather than their obvious, to us, natural causes). They're in a constant state of guilt and shame, constantly excoriating themselves, constantly grovelling to the being they've made up to protect them, but who has let them down. Later, mingle this abhorrent concept with certain "pagan" notions of a demigod born of the congress of a god in animal form with a human female, and certain "mystery cult" concepts of a "savior" god who redeems mortals from their mortality, and you get Christianity - in which God offers his own "first born" as a sacrifice that vicariously saves all of mankind from sin and death, and grants them eternal life.

If you really want it laid out clear, see the book, "When Healing Prayers Aren't Working - Spiritual Warfare for Real."
Well said & amen, Gene Smith ! The Lord blessed me with this realization a few years ago thru anointed Bible preachers, including Andrew Wommack & Pastor Dilkumar. How very timely, since my family & I needed Healing big time. When Jesus moves me to pray, & it seems Impossible ..Lord Jesus reminds me "I already Finished this on the Cross !" So I speak to the mountain, & it moves ! He commanded us to believe & obey .. heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out the demons. He promised to do everything we ask, that His Father might be glorified in the Son. Faithful is He who calls, & He will Do !
I've experienced Thousands of Miracles of healing & rescue .. It has already been bound .. or loosed in Heaven. The only possible barrier is Sin .. someone else's or Mine. All the more reason to keep myself close to our Savior, & Pure .. to fall on my knees & repent my smallest deviance, or wavering unbelief .. which He is faithful & just to forgive & cleanse, + Heal. He then leads me out Again, to do battle with the enemies of Life & Godliness .. the Real adversaries of our soul & body, our Life & Peace .. here & hereafter.
I believe we are called to share in his Glory & Virtue: we've a responsibility to uphold & defend His Righteousness, Mercy, & Truth. Jesus, as Captain of the Lord's Army, enlists Us with Timothy to be His comrades in arms .. You & I are commissioned, not as mere citizens of His Kingdom of Right & Good, but as Guardians of the Realm .. over our brothers' & sisters' Well Being, at Jesus' behest: not in our own care & power, but by the Blood of his Cross, & his Resurrection to Life. Heaven & they .. now count on Us.
So .. when some Calamity befalls, & people ask: How could God let this Happen ? .. I ask: How could believing Christians .. Children & Soldiers of the Living God .. Let this Happen ? ... especially how have I fallen short ? God grant me Grace to be sensitive & responsible to Him, vigilant & zealous for his beloved Saints ( present & prospective) .. courageously engaged in the redemptive cause of our Good Shepherd.
The gates of Hell cannot prevail against the Ekklesia of Holy God .. if his Children might thru us yet hear his entire Gospel truth, repent our complacency (unwitting or not) & Grow up into our High Calling !
I thank Heaven, Gene, for your Caring & Faithful endeavor, to clarify & magnify his empowering Word, his holy Will, & his sure Promises. I welcome your comment as my Encouragement, straight from my Lord !
I will read your Book, & revivify my own efforts, to be a more strong & true Soldier, a trustworthy Guardian of His glorious Realm .. in bold caring Prayers, in every courageous Deed .. as ordained for me, by Him.

Uhm... Mr. Turek... Jesus did say this: "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:22)
He did say that we can pray for God’s protection.

Gift of free wil
He has set the time aside to do that. The time when it will be of most benefit and allow the most people to come to Him.
This is genuinely the guy who wrote a book thinking atheism needs faith, so he has no understanding of the topic. Morality is a huge problem for religion.
So did you actually read the book or are you basing the content PURELY off the title?

"Why does God allow evil"?
Because he's allowing us humans to try and do things our own way without him, but we're failing miserable.
Once God is satisfied that we've learned the lesson that we can't live without him,
he'll step in and completely stop all evil and undo all injustices and bring everyone back to life,
and then he'll say, "Ok now lets try it my way."
In summary :-
Is God unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful.
If they were forced to obey and love him then they wouldn't have free will
and the love wouldn't have meant anything.
The tree in the Garden of Eden was a test of their free will. It represented God's right to be ruler and he is the only person who can rightly say what is right and wrong since he created us. God laid one command on Adam and Eve and warned them that they would "positively die" if they ate from the tree. When Satan deceived Eve through a snake,
and Adam and Eve ate from the tree, all 3 of them raised the issue that God doesn't have the right to be ruler.
Anyone who has died for any reason will be brought back to life on earth for a chance to live again,
including sinners.
(Psalm 37:29; Acts 24:15; John 5:28+29)
God didn't create evil. Its the result of free will.
So God is able to prevent evil he just chooses not to right now
and he knows he easily can undo all of the injustices evil has caused.
God is also willing to prevent evil because he has promised to end evil once he is satisfied that we have
learned our lesson that we can't live without him.
Either way, *all* of the people he killed or people like him killed,
will be brought back to life in a new body. They will all have a chance to live forever,
so what Hitler did to them will seem like nothing after they've lived a few hundred years.
Nothing can exist without it's opposite.
Let's give up the things that are most precious to us [e.g.], offer them to our gods, so that they'll protect and favor us." Hence desperate notions like that of the sacrifice of the first-born - "Here, take this one, and leave me the rest."
This way of thinking is portrayed with startling clarity in the Hebrew Bible - Jerusalem is invaded and destroyed as a direct consequence of Israel having fallen away from God.
