    Anyone done a small island in the kitchen? I’m thinking 12 inches wide by 30 inches long and pushed right up next to the TV cabinet. Purchased our 2021 31G last Wednesday but it went straight to Quality RV in Venus, TX for upgrades to the ride.

    Nice informative video. Just purchased brand new 2022 31G this Feb.
    I noticed when you first started the inside tour showing the theater seating, it looked like your side window blinds would clear the sides of the chairs, my blinds hit the top of the chair not letting them go all the way down, bad planning/engineering.
    Also, during the orientation, the guy never mentioned anything regarding the black & gray tanks and related; the 31g owner's manual is very vague and does not explain the black tanks (2 blk tanks) individual capacities nor does it explain which blk tank is #1 & #2 on the tank meter readout. Same with the gry tanks!
    There are a few other things that I've been having to figure out.
    myself .
    Will definitely be watching your other videos.

      Hi Sam. Thanks for watching! There should be a build sheet with all the capacities and other important info in the pack of manuals you got with the trailer. There is 1 gray tank and it's for the shower and sink in the main bath. It is 37 gallons. The front black tank is 38 gallons and is for the main toilet only. The 2nd black tank is also 38 gallons and it's for the half bath and the kitchen sink. The readout should be marked as to which tank is which on the panel. I'm glad to answer any more questions you have. If you do Facebook we have a group just for the 29G/31G trailers. There is a ton of info there. Here's the link. facebook.com/groups/momentum29g31g

    Terry can you tell me the process of filling water in tank? I have a 2021 21 g i just bought and i read somewhere you got to pull a vent valve or something?? I see a valve under camper. Just want to be sure

    • @terryhatfieldmin
      @terryhatfieldmin  Місяць тому

      Just push in the white valve levers under the trailer and set the levers in the wet bay to fill and start filling. The first will fill a little faster than the 2nd. These trailers are notorious for leaking water out the vent tubes when you are going down the road. Many of us used Shark Bite valves from the home center to stop that water loss from the blue vent lines. Very important to open those valves when filling and when using the tanks. Here's a link to another video where I show the valves and how they work. Lots of good info in the video but about 16 minutes in are the valves.

    • @fozzybear9114
      @fozzybear9114 Місяць тому

      Ok. The "white valves" are the 1.5 " drain valves? Ya those should be closed for sure. I might end up doing shark bites and valves in future. I can see why u want those open while filling.
      Also the previous owner of my camper stated that he had trouble getting water into 2nd tank. He said he had to fill slow in order to get water into second tank?

    • @terryhatfieldmin
      @terryhatfieldmin  Місяць тому

      @@fozzybear9114 The white valves are the drains. The Shark bite valves solve the 2nd tank fill issue. Once water comes out of the front Shark bite I close it and it helps to fill the 2nd tank.

    What’s your opinion on why you chose a travel trailer vs 5th wheel?
    I have the same setup 2021 31g and love it but people keep giving me a hard time that I didn’t get a 5th wheel.

    • @terryhatfieldmin

      Thanks Ryan! We have several reasons for going with the 31G. We boondock almost exclusively. We did not want to deal with the extra height, length or weight of the 5th wheel. In addition, when we decided to get a toyhauler we set a budget and actually stuck to it for once. :o) It's been perfect for us and how we use it.

      Don't think a Tundra would be capable of toing a 31G. Loaded weights up around 13,000 and tongue weights of around 1800 are pretty normal on these trailers. 3/4 ton is a minimum.

    I'm very interested in getting this same trailer!!! Can you post a picture or maybe a short video of the bedroom slide process? I'm concerned about a crappy factory mattress and would want to upgrade it. But it seems the mattress has to fold up for travel??? Also is the hanging closet big enough for a standard hanger?

    • @terryhatfieldmin
      @terryhatfieldmin  3 роки тому +1

      The mattress does fold. There are some posts on the Facebook groups showing a mod to the bed to allow for a regular mattress. The original one is really hard. We will be changing it out over the winter. I'll post a video of the mods necessary when we do that project. The part that folds is thicker than the rest so it requires making a backer to take up that space and being able to hold the mattress in a position that allows the slide to operate correctly. The closet is big enough for a standard hanger but not a ton of room in the hanging closet. I'll get some pics when I'm out there next time and add them to this album on my Flickr page. www.flickr.com/photos/93396776@N06/albums/72157717284584017

    Nice unit. Thanks for the tour. I'm curious to know how you tie the Talon down in the garage, and how easy (or hard) it is to get access to do that tiedown procedure. I suspect that having the side "man-door" in the garage would help with access when tying the Talon down. Also, I'm curious as to a ball-park price for this Grand Design unit? Finally, is your truck a 1-ton?
    As always, thanks for sharing.
    Steve

    • @terryhatfieldmin
      @terryhatfieldmin  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks. I've loaded it forward and backward to measure the tongue weight each way. Putting it in backwards only adds 50 lbs but it is much easier to tie down in that orientation. The front wheels are too far forward to access the D rings when it's in forward. I hooked the straps with it a foot or so from the wall and then pushed it back to where I wanted it to be and tightened the straps. Much easier on the front. I was thinking of doing E track on the floor but it's going to interfere with the door into the living area and I'm concerned about it being a trip hazard since we will be using the garage as living space. List price was $66k. Out the door price including $1500 in freight was $49800.00.

    • @terryhatfieldmin
      @terryhatfieldmin  3 роки тому +1

      Sorry. Didn't answer your questions completely. Yes, the truck is a '17 Ram 3500 Cummings turbo 1 ton dually. For tie downs, I used regular crank straps with soft axle straps attached to the Talon suspension as close to the wheels as possible. The other end is in the 4 outboard D rings. It's not exactly what I would prefer but seemed to work fine in my test trip yesterday. Still contemplating E track but not sure what the best configuration is just yet.

    My new 31G has a power rear awning. I noticed that that door above the pantry in my trailer does not have a pull handle to pull the door open. I called the dealer and asked them about it and they said that they do not put a handle on that door. After looking at why they might not have a handle on that door I would assume that it might hit the wall above the garage man door and mark the wall up.
    I noticed that your 31G has no handle either on that door. It is no big deal to open the door without the handle I just thought maybe they had forgot to install one on that door.

After these months of watching post after post on our 29G/31G Facebook group, these trailers pulling well is as much about the hitch as it is about the truck. Your F250 should be fine but I strongly suggest going to a 20k pull and 2k tongue weight hitch such as the Weigh Safe True Tow or the Blue Ox. I have the Weigh Safe and ours has been flawless.
