- This video continues with my special series: Brands that I collect or avoid. The spotlight here is on IXO 1/43 scale.
IXO is one of the collectible mega brands, making just about everything in 1/43 scale and many of the same race cars in 1/18 scale. They also collaborate with Tarmac Works in 1/64 scale.
IXO are affordable 1/43 scale die-cast race cars, one half the price of a comparable Spark car. Quality is generally good and value exceptional.
IXO are also plagued by quality control issues and poor scale and casting.
If Spark is unaffordable or if IXO makes a model that you want and can't find in Spark, buy and collect IXO. I own about 25 IXO. I also own about 200 Spark.
AVOID at any cost the modern era Ford GT. The casting is of the worst in the entire industry. Check out my Ford GT videos such as: You can put 💋 on a pig, but it is still a 🐖.
That Saleen S7-R....check it next to a spark version. They do that one you have & the #54 also, and there is a good review of them on UA-cam.
I recently got one, because I had an IXO, which is nicely detailed & liveried but I always felt like it wasnt quite right at the front.
Get a spark and see the difference. The rear mesh is even see through to the engine. But the main thing is the headlight and front shape, much more elegant and true to life.
Bottom line is, if the car matters to you, buy spark or maybe TSM, HPI (although sometimes their shape can be wrong).
Tom.you are right on. Spark is always my first choice, TSM, Looksmart and HDI. Most of the IXO that ive collected were offers from sellers that were so good I couldnt pass...like the Ford GT. On that model i widh I had. My advise to anyone would always buy Spark. Many comments I receive about Spark are in regsrds to affordability. I have to agree their too. THANKS for watching. Do you have any experience with the 1:18 scale IXO Ford GT models? I feel like the 1:18 Models by IXO have a better quality compared to their 1:43 counterparts. Cool vid tho.
No I don't, as I collect primarily 1/43. IXO may make a better casting in 1/18. My recommendation is to avoid the Ford GT in 1/43. Thanks for watching.
The Gt looks like a toy
It is terrible fucking model. I bought two at the same time. Worst purchase I ever made.
