These are great rain scatter qso’s. I really enjoyed 10 gig qso’s ten years ago during vhf and uhf contests here in the Southeast USA. The participation level fell off and I drifted away from 10 gig. You can even bounce signals off water tower tanks on mountain tops. A good mountain or hilltop view with hams ready for you was a blast. I would buy one of these IC-905’s if I could find someone to qso with. Thanks for the video. 73 de AF4OD em72
Great video Mike! Glad you were able to get your first and second Q's on 10GHz. Still chasing my first rain scatter contacts but have made other close with other ops who have been extremely helpful.
I setup microwave PTP links for businesses often. I wish I could get excited about 10Ghz for Ham Radio, but it's an uphill battle. Firstly, It's a lot more popular in other areas of the world like Australia. Due to our landscapes, it's a lot more difficult to find someone else in line of sight. Secondly, it's not cheap by any means. Thirdly, it really has failed to launch here in the states and be adopted by other hams. I would love to buy the equipment and have some long distance PTP QSOs or SSTV but it's not feasible knowing that nobody I know of in town has the equipment. We as a community need to find a way to make it 'exciting' and showcase it. - Maybe I'll buy the equipment and make a video after all. FWIW, this was definitely cool using rain scatter.
Mike can you sell a hardware kit for mounting the AH-PB109 dish to the tripod? And also for mounting dishes that have already been modified for horizontal polarization? De N2YTF
The Icom dish is vertically polarized. However the way I mounted it on my tripod makes it horizontally polarized. I had to modify the mount slightly to hold the dish and the transverter. DXE does not currently sell anything for mounting other than what is supplied with the dish. Thanks!

Cool band, antennas have high gain like a flashlight. Frequency stability and accuracy is a real trick. Have fun de KT1R in WV grid FM09WP
The 905 is GPS locked so being on frequency is not a problem.
