  • A very diverse selection of favorite songs from 1968, from Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart, Plastic Penny and Traffic. Details:
    1. Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart - I wonder what she's doing tonight. This song moves along at a frantic pace. The duo were prolific songwriters, especially for the Monkees, including their theme song. "Words" was the one I really liked.
    2. Plastic Penny - Baby you're not to blame. Not a well known group, had a minor hit with "Everything I am". But I've always been fond of this one. I was surprised to see that Nigel Olsson, Elton John's well known co-writer, was the drummer.
    3. Traffic - No face, no name, no number. Traffic were a very talented "super group", with some very innovative, unusual songs. (eg. "Hole in my shoe) Having excluded "Dear Mr Fantasy" as it rambles on a bit, this is my favorite, show casing Stevie Winwood's vocal talent. It takes a few hearings to fully appreciate it's beauty and subtleties.
