This is a short documentary about a mystical encounter with the iconic and legendary reggae group, The Abyssinians, responsible for what many would agree is Reggae Official Anthem/ Rastafarians Official Anthem since the mid 1960's to date: "Satta Massagana". The Abyssinians are known for their original conscious lyrics / Roots and Culture in most of their songs. (Declaration of Rights, Forward Unto Zion, Abendigo, etc.
Passing through Bob Marley's former home, Trench Town Culture Yard. It was a great honor to be at the same place, at the same time. It was a blessing that they happened to be rehearsing on that day. Their captivating voices during rehearsal was captured on camera as well as a quick moment of reasoning about the origins of the group, the meaning and reason for creating Satta Massagana, secrets to longevity in their career and health.
From a technical point of view, a power outage in the area made it impossible to shoot the rehearsal from favorable/multiple angles, but we captured the essence, the irie vibe (the strong breeze blowing the leaves of the trees on location, background conversations, joy, laughter, birds) The Abyssinians where also gracious to take a moment to reason on tape.
Special Thanks to AMO Sound Solutions for the riddim used for the sound track.
Special Thanks to Martin Josephat for those amazing photographs of Japan, featured in the video. Nuff Raspect!
