    Hi! For the spam rice ball recipe, you seasoned the spam with mirin and sake. When i go to look up these ingredients google says mirin is sake. Can you please tell me the sake you used in this video? Thanks so much

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel
      @JapaneseCookingChannel  Рік тому

      Thanks for your comment!
      Sake and mirin are different actually. Both are made with koji and rice, but mirin has sweet taste.
      One of the major differences between the production of mirin and sake is that mirin does not undergo the alcoholic fermentation process that takes place before sake is made. Specifically, mirin is made by putting steamed glutinous rice, malted rice, and shochu into a single tank and brewing them together at the same time, so that only saccharification takes place instead of alcoholic fermentation by yeast as in sake.
      Sake I use is here👇
      Sake: www.wine-searcher.com/find/sho+chiku+bai+ten+sake+japan/1/japan
      I use drinking sake not cooking sake, but you can use either one!

    So, do you eat these cold or do you eat them at room temp? Rice that's stored in the fridge gets hard, but I don't have time to make a lunch with rice before work and would rather make it the night before.

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel
      @JapaneseCookingChannel  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your comment!
      I eat them at room temp. I make fresh rice when cooking bento box, and make sure to cool the rice enough before packing it in the box.
      If you want to prepare the bento the night before, how about making some ingredients other than rice? Also, if it's deep-frying dish, I would just prepare to the point of sprinkling bread crumbs (panko).

    Question: Is it stored in the fridge or sitting on the counter the night before taking it for lunch?

    • @JapaneseCookingChannel

      Thanks for your question. I make it in the morning, and my husband eat it the day I make it.
      If you wanna make it the day before, maybe you should put it in fridge, and heat it in microwave when eating.
