I am a 42 year old, African American Swiftie and I always come back to this song with a sense of awe and pride because Taylor and BoB collaborated so well on this song.❤
We might not be getting a Taylor's Version of this track but we really need to manifest a live performance of this. Like seriously. I'm not joking. This is literally, genuinely one the best collab she's ever had. We really need a live performance of this one in The Eras Tour!
Taylor did perform this track on tour and she had B.O.B come out and they performed this song together. You should be able to find the video on youtube.
Taylor's part always made me cry, I struggled so hard to get my son and I out of a hard life when I was very young. Now he's 17 and I'm 36, I married an amazing man and we have a 3 year old girl, with 4 dogs and a beautiful house in the country. This song always reminded me to never give up back then, I knew I could make it. I ended up being strong enough to lift not one, but both of us son ❤
13 Facts you probably didn’t know about Taylor Swift & B.o.B’s Both of Us. 1. The lyrics of "Both of Us" talks about racism and bullying. 2. The Dr. Luke and Cirkut produced the track, B.o.B finds identifying with underdogs, as he rhymes about battling pain and hardships in life. 3. It was received critical acclaim, praising Swift's feature, with some calling the country rap collaboration as a sweet and melodic catchy song. 4. In the music video, Taylor wore the dog tags of Sgt. Wade Wilson, who was killed in Afghanistan. He was a huge Taylor fan; Taylor sent his family flowers after she saw a video uploaded by his friend about him. 5. There is an alternate version of this song where B.o.B sing along with Taylor in some of the lyrics of the chorus. 6. The song was leaked on April 11, 2012. 7. It was Taylor's idea to collaborate with B.o.B on this song (which she actually co-wrote). She decided to reach out to him after she visited his record label. 8. B.o.B told The Boombox that his collaboration with Taylor began with him getting a text message from someone claiming to be Taylor Swift. "I was like, 'This isn't Taylor Swift,' " he recalled. "She invited me to her show, to bring me out to her show to do 'Airplanes.' Lucky for me I'm a really trusting person so I moved forward. Usually if someone's like, 'This is Tupac,' you're gonna be like 'Whatever' [laughs]. 9. B.o.B recounted the story of the song to The Boombox: "I wasn't in Atlanta at the time so she arranged for me to come to Dallas. I remember I had a show in Alabama and they let me use her tour bus to come to her show in Dallas. When I played her ['Both of Us'] even before the first verse even dropped, she was onboard. She was like, 'I love it already.' I was like 'She'd be perfect for it.' She recorded her vocals in L.A. I recorded my vocals in Atlanta. [When I first heard the song with both our parts] it instantly felt magical]. 10. B.o.b had to re-sing some of my parts so they could really blend with Taylor [vocals]. He rewrote one of his verses as well. "It started as a blueprint and it really continued to grow into something tremendous," he said. 11. Director Jake Nava's inspiration for the visual representation of the tune was what he calls "a collage of different aspects of humanity in the Southern states, particularly around Nashville." While the footage shows scenes from a farm, a bar and home, one aspect he didn't anticipate was the bugs. 12. The song sold 143,000 copies in its first week, debuting at number 18 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became the week's top debut. 13. It was certified PLATINUM in the US & Australia, and GOLD in New Zealand. #7YearsofBothOfUs source: Songfacts, taylor_swiftfacts on tumblr, theBoot, Wikipedia

I used to listen to this when my girlfriend when she was pregnant with our first child we both lost our jobs, lived in a slumlords house and had no family or anybody to help now 10 years later we have 4 children are married and in a way better finacial situation in a good neighbourhood never give up
This gives me serious 80’s movies vibes where Taylor is the older sister who takes care of her two younger brothers because they’re parents have either left or have neglected them and she slowly falls for B.O.B who reminds her how to be happy again despite their circumstances 🥺
This song got me through a lot of tough times. To whoever is reading this, you'll get through what you're dealing with your life rn, maybe not today but you will eventually. You can do it.
"And if life hadn't chosen us, sometimes I wonder where I would've wound up. Because if it was up to me, i'd make a new blueprint, being built up from the ground up." Pretty deep words.
Thank you again Jesus! And if those who knew the TRUTH, knew the TRUTH; in its EXACT DUE MOMENT, would let it come to play..Thankyou to all who still gave me their trust; when I had none. I hope to of have been the one that these did it to as one of the least.. a prophet who is alive and now lives speaking. I cannot wait to meet Jesus Christ as well as any of his faithful Apostles, disciples or from Judas is'cariot's side of brothers as well. Long as they can give me a reasonable response as to why, the good news is being delivered. I'm happy. Love you Lori Johnson from many many years ago.2023/14/04 as of April its your former student.
one of the best (if not the best) hidden gem in taylor swift's discography. two entirely different artists and playstyle yet blended perfectly in this masterpiece
oh this is definitely her most underrated song. i’ve felt like it’s hard to find “Taylor Swift’s most underrated song” cause she has well over 200 songs. she has 10 albums, she has four Taylor’s version vault’s out as of right now, a couple one-off singles, a few collabs. like that’s so much music, a lot of the songs end up going under-appreciated. but at the same time, she’s the most famous person in the world and literally billions of people listen to her music so i’d say most of her songs are known, by at least a few people, just not super popular. but i just found this song and it HAS to be her most underrated.
Taylor's BEST Collabs • Both of Us • Safe and Sound ft The Civil Wars • I Don't Wanna Live Forever - Zayn Malik • Two Is Better Than One - Boys Like Girls • Thug Story ft TPain • Exile ft Bon Iver [NEW]
Ya know there are a lot of rap songs with deep meanings not all of rap songs are about money of girls u just gotta find the right songs and there rlly nice songs too
neither is greater than the other. this song is a great complimentary display of vocals. Taylor is light and airy, while BoB brings back the masculine feeling and edginess. It's a masterpiece tbh.
I miss this times where our TV is not that flat and listening to these kinds of songs with a max volume till my grandma will complain and scold me.. I miss my grandma too 😢😢
Like the idiot that I am, I just listened to this song after 2 years and instantly fell in love with it. This is the kind of collaboration that needs to take place in the music industry.
*They didn’t really promote it though!* I suspect her music label didn’t want her country fans to shy away due to structural rasism. And seeing how some spoke out when Swift a few years ago stood up against racism and homophobia, many of her right wing fans got very angry at her because they thought her previous silence had meant she had the same view on people as they did.
The first time I listened to this song was when I was a kid, and I thought to myself that this was beautiful. But now as an adult, damn, this song made me cry. Life is rough and we never really knew that as a kid. It made me think about my single mom and how hard it was to lift an entire family. Now, it's my turn and this song made me sob.
this is my favorite rap song. not just because of taylor but because the song has a true meaning that thousands of people can relate to. also for it being a rap song, its unique in the melody and music. and the video is so simple and perfect. i just love it so much!

I wish I was strong enough to lift not one but both of us
Some day I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us
Ever thought about losing it
When your money's all gone and you lose your whip
You might lose your grip when the landlord tell ya that you're due for rent
And the grass so green on the other side
Make a n**** wanna run straight through the fence
Open up the fridge bout twenty times
But still can't find no food in it
That's foolishness
And sometimes I wonder, why we care so much about the way we look
And the way we talk and the way we act
And the clothes we bought, how much that cost?
Does it even really matter?
'Cause if life is an uphill battle
We all tryna climb with the same ol' ladder
In the same boat, with the same ol' paddle
Why so shallow? I'm just asking
What's the pattern for the madness
Everybody ain't a number one draft pick
Most of us ain't Hollywood actors
But if it's all for one, and one for all
Then maybe one day, we all can ball
Do it one time for the underdogs
Sincerely yours, from one of y'all
I wish I was strong enough to lift not one but both of us
Some day I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us
I can feel your pain, I can feel your struggle
You just wanna live, been everything so low
That you could drown in a puddle
That's why I gotta hold us up, yeah hold us up
For all the times no one's ever spoke for us
To every single time that they play this song
You can say that that's what Bobby Ray wrote for us
When the tides get too high
And the sea up underneath get so deep
And you feel like you're just another person
Getting lost in the crowd, way up high in the nosebleed
Uh, because we won't be near yet, both of us
But we still stand tall with our shoulders up
And even though we always against the odds
These are the things that have molded us
And if life hadn't chosen us
Sometimes I wonder where I would've wound up
'Cause if it was up to me, I'd make a new blueprint
Then build it from the ground up, hey
But if it's all for one, and one for all
Then maybe one day, we all can ball
Do it one time for the underdogs
From Bobby Ray, to all of y'all
I wish I was strong enough to lift not one but both of us
Some day I will be strong enough to lift not one but both of us
Thank you

Fuck off you little bitch boy

Flew under your radar
@@why9098 he didn't mean any harm or insult to Taylor. Pls reread and understand his comment well before calling him a "btch"

I used to listen to this when my girlfriend when she was pregnant with our first child we both lost our jobs, lived in a slumlords house and had no family or anybody to help now 10 years later we have 4 children are married and in a way better finacial situation in a good neighbourhood never give up
I'm so happy for you ❤️
SHE LOOKS LIKE AN ANGEL IN THIS MUSIC VIDEO.
The fact that this comment section is alive after 8+ years is incredible

THIS SONG IS CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED!
Still is 😢
Righhhttt??!!😭
Louder!!!!
its 2024 and this still rocks! i hope this will be played in the eras tour
This gives me serious 80’s movies vibes where Taylor is the older sister who takes care of her two younger brothers because they’re parents have either left or have neglected them and she slowly falls for B.O.B who reminds her how to be happy again despite their circumstances 🥺
I feel this song! I feel Taylor's songs! He is good too! And she is not a snake! She is our Taylor!
Still one of the greatest songs ever written. All the feels.
Blessings to you 🙏
UA-cam these days is bringing these nostalgic and legendary songs for us without us searching for it
YESS, I got it on my recommendation
This song got me through a lot of tough times. To whoever is reading this, you'll get through what you're dealing with your life rn, maybe not today but you will eventually. You can do it.

The lyrics in this are so powerful I can’t stop. I’ve been listening to this for years
I came back here after a long time. Honestly I even forgot this song existed. It deserves better..

"And if life hadn't chosen us, sometimes I wonder where I would've wound up. Because if it was up to me, i'd make a new blueprint, being built up from the ground up."
Pretty deep words.

Taylor Swift's singing part is simply beautiful
this song is so good, but underrated, i almost forgot this song exists.
me too
I didnt know it exsisted
She means not alot of people talk about it
i didnt know 32 millions views meant underrated
Me neither
So underrated but such a uplifting song. Thanks B.O.B and Taylor.
2024 still vibing

@Sleep in I know who B.o.B and Taylor Swift are lol. I just never heard this song specifically, I was only 7 when it came out.
+1 😅
I never heard it before either until today
Yeah like I didn't care if anyone heard me listening to this lol it was fire
Same
She's absolutely stunning.
oh this is definitely her most underrated song. i’ve felt like it’s hard to find “Taylor Swift’s most underrated song” cause she has well over 200 songs. she has 10 albums, she has four Taylor’s version vault’s out as of right now, a couple one-off singles, a few collabs. like that’s so much music, a lot of the songs end up going under-appreciated. but at the same time, she’s the most famous person in the world and literally billions of people listen to her music so i’d say most of her songs are known, by at least a few people, just not super popular. but i just found this song and it HAS to be her most underrated.
It isn't available on Spotify 😢 maybe that's on of the reasons
It is on Spotify under B.o.B!
Taylor's BEST Collabs
• Both of Us
• Safe and Sound ft The Civil Wars
• I Don't Wanna Live Forever - Zayn Malik
• Two Is Better Than One - Boys Like Girls
• Thug Story ft TPain
• Exile ft Bon Iver [NEW]
mono album of year How you gonna do Last Time, End Game, and Everything has Changed like that?
Don't forget ''Highway Don't Care'' with Tim Mcgraw.

*Taylor is very beautiful 😍😍*
*B.o.b is beautiful 💚💜*
I'm still laughing how B.o.B gets all these mainstream artists and is not more famous than he already is.. He is so damn underrated....
+Nikeairon24 this was 3 years ago when his music was good now hes making some gangsta shit. He doesn't realize that this is his sort of music.
No he's not lol. Listen to his new mixtape/mini album
+Nikeairon24 its because he didnt join the illuminati lol
Toby Bishop
DON'T TELL HIM!!!! HE WILL KNOW B.o.B SECRET!!
Nikeairon24 Wtf is a mini album
B.o.B was the king back in the day. Everyone talking about Taylor in these comments, but he made it happen.
Usually, I hate rap, but I really like this song. It has a really nice message.
Elizabeth Proctor bitch kindly gtfo!
Elizabeth Proctor nice is mediocre, this song is excellently not
Thats just what I was thinking, I even like this rap and have learned all the lyrics to it
Ya know there are a lot of rap songs with deep meanings not all of rap songs are about money of girls u just gotta find the right songs and there rlly nice songs too
Dont how u can hate rap but whatever
neither is greater than the other. this song is a great complimentary display of vocals. Taylor is light and airy, while BoB brings back the masculine feeling and edginess. It's a masterpiece tbh.

this song is fucking amazing. I can't believe I never heard it.
Quantom Arrow so true
are views the only measure of appreciation?
one of her best songs. her breakup songs have more view that's why she keep making them. recently her songs are all about shades
I am really shocked that this song is underrated
Taylor Sweet this was really a hit back then, it was my jam 💕
jannine velasco i am fond of this song especially Taytay's calm words..
I was only 13 that time but I really appreciate the song and the meaning behind it 💓

I always love this song but now in 2020 it hits a little harder. It is even more relevant now than I ever realized it could have ever been before!

Love b.o.b and Taylor didn't even know this song existed till now ❤ I like the different vibes
This song marked the beginning of a very rough few years for me when I turned 16. I love how much it reminds me of how far I've come 10 years on.
I hope you’re doing great now! God bless you
Some people just discovered this...while I have this on my everyday playlist, it's literally one of my most listened songs...
This song has been on my playlist for 9 years
*They didn’t really promote it though!* I suspect her music label didn’t want her country fans to shy away due to structural rasism.
Best mom🎉
This is one of my favorite Taylor featured songs. Both of them are amazing artists ❤
It's been 4 years..how have I never heard this song before??

this is my favorite rap song. not just because of taylor but because the song has a true meaning that thousands of people can relate to. also for it being a rap song, its unique in the melody and music. and the video is so simple and perfect.

Hands down one of the best collaborations, underated. More heart and soul in this song than ever. It's Amazing.
This song will remain relevant till the end of time.
