What Happened to the Owners of this Abandoned House, Why is so Much Left Behind!?

- The Christmas Disney House
Here we have another abandoned house that looks as though it was abandoned around Christmas time. There is a calendar on the wall from 2014 and it is opened up to the month of December. The house is semi packed up with a couple of rooms with boxes full of items left behind. Some of them include Christmas decorations like wreaths, lights and dickens houses there is also a Christmas tree in the basement that looks as though it was set up when the owners moved out. There are so many other interesting items to see in this house but you will have to watch the video to see what they all are.
I had originally driven by this home a few months ago and at the time it looked active, or at least the property did. Because of this I was very surprised to see the calendar from 8 years ago! I really am curious as to what happened to the people that lived here, why would they leave so much behind.
Built in 1975, this house screams discreet 70s decor, with lots of beige paint, tiled bathtub enclosures, hardwood floors and even some wood panelling for good measure. This property is up for redevelopment and the home will be demolished in the very near future!

It's common to see Christmas decorations around abandoned homes for two reasons - One, because many people have to move out after leases or rents run out for the year or the end of the month and when the tenants are forcefully evicted many times there'a a mad rush to grab what you can and/or they have no room wherever they go for all of their excess possessions. And two, because people seem to leave many of their Christmas decorations with other things they don't care about behind when they move. They can then be purchased again very cheaply when wanted. In this case something bad must have occurred with these tenants for them to leave their family photos and wedding album there. Maybe a divorce, prison, or even worse - sudden death. This appears to be a sad case - maybe the flood in the basement made the house not habitable. ...Anyway, thanks for taking the time to make decently longer videos to properly show what's there - there are a few explorers who rush in and out in under than 15 minutes per video!
Ya not sure what happened with this place but they seemed to leave an awful lot of things behind, including beds. It could have been a coincidence that the calendar was showing December too. Ya, sometimes i think my videos are too long but most of you, my regular viewers like them that way. I will continue with that even though it's harder to please the algorhythm. Thanks for the comment Bill!!
Thanks for showing the vhs tapes. I had never heard of one of those titles the Fun and Fancy Free one - it’s Mickey related and my two year old loves Mickey so now I’m looking it up so he can watch it. 😊
No problem, i know that a lot of viewers are always interested in that sort of thing. Thanks for the comment!!
Love your video's and i like the still photo's it's quite calming to see the chaos that way thankyou. Watching from the UK
Glad you are enjoying them Nicole and thanks for the comment!
It saddens me how many houses are abandoned with so much inside. I find it hard to believe that so many families had no one who cared enough to do something with the belongings. A choice between giving it away or letting it rot, I'd give it away. I have a hard time understanding the "honor" in letting stuff rot and waste. As for the house, I love the lights in the bathrooms. If I owned a home, I'd love to do something like that.
Ya sometimes it's a matter of just not being able to handle taking care of things mentally. It's always a tough situation to deal with. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for the comment!!
Love all theses crazy old houses You seen to always find! Hope You and Your family have great Christmas! Keep up the great work! ⛄🙏🏻👍
Thanks! Hope you had a great Christmas too and thanks for the comment DC!!
So sad that they would leave behind all those family photos and children's possessions. I love how respectful you are of peoples personal things (even if they've abandoned them)! That basement was awful! I hope you were wearing a mask. Such a shame al that railway stuff is ruined. So much water! Great find, great explore! Happy Holidays!
Oh ya, that basement was just nasty and i was definitely wearing a mask! Thank you for commenting!!
I love the old style homes. I love the lights. They certainly liked Christmas stuff! Love your videos and please stay safe!
Yes, there were some great light fixtures in this particular one. Thanks for the comment!!
When you said, "I wasn't expecting anything amazing", I thought, James, you're always amazing!
Hahaha, thanks Gina!!
Wow some of them VHS sealed. Thats amazing. Yes they did leave a lot of stuff behind. Man that basement must have stunk. Standing water is crazy stinky. Whats going in place of this house. Another great explore JH. Big Hugs and Happy Holidays. 😊😊😊
I actually didn't notice any smell in the basement but may have been from the mask, or because it was winter, not too sure. Probably condos going in place of this one, what else do they build!? Lol Thanks and Happy Holidays Kimmy!!
Hi James,
I enjoyed this one a lot , it is very interesting . Thank you for going down into the flooded basement , that was exciting to see even though it’s kind of sad to see the train set like that . I still like the way some of it was just floating in the water .
Thank you James : )
-Trisha
I knew i had to get down there somehow and it was pretty surreal walking through all that water. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment Trisha!!
Thank you James, this was an awesome find looks like they just stacked everything and took nothing! Merry Christmas and a great New Year!
A strange situation for sure, glad you like it Samantha! Merry Christmas and happy new year!
Thanks for the look inside. Makes you wonder about the stuff people leave behind. Merry Christmas 👣🌞
Sure does, this one was a very unexpected find. Merry Christmas SD!!
While James go through the VHS Classic Cartoons tapes bring me back to my Childhood memories.
Glad you enjoyed it Will and thanks for the comments!
Great explore!!! Looked like a big family with kids. That one table in the bedroom was a baby changing table I think. Christmas decorations and a train!! My mom still sets up a train around her Christmas tree❤️. That’s a house I could spend hours in just looking at magazines and Christmas ornaments ❤️. Thanks for setting the lighthouse up for the still shot❤️. I love lighthouses!!! Do you ever explore them? Be safe and try to stay dry❤️. Pam❤️❤️
Oh wow, that's cool, the train around the Christmas tree. I have not ever explored a light house, mostly just seen them from the outside. But I will explore anything. Glad you enjoyed it Pam and thanks a lot for your comment!!
@@StaticSpaces you are very welcome ❤️ keep an eye out for a lighthouse 😊😊
@@StaticSpaces always love your videos and still shots!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Will do!
Hi James! Merry Christmas! Waow the mould in this place was crazy. I’m not surprised with the flooded basement, which, God forgive me, almost was as if you were in a sinking ship. I dunno. That’s just what came to mind. Those Disney vhs’ took me back to my childhood. We had a TONNE growing up. Again, very Merry Christmas and thanks so much for the video at such a busy time!
It certainly was surreal walking around in that basement full of water. Merry Christmas Stephanie!! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!!
5:40 to 5:50 My mom had something like that with a matching fabric shower curtain, all purple. Made having a shower really dark. So last year I put in a white plastic one, and now one can see!
The plunger to get the shower going, on the other hand, is seized...
Being able to see while showering is pretty important! 😆 Thanks for the comment Mandy!!
Merry Christmas James and happy holidays and New Year. This was a great follow up to one of the best houses ever, your first Christmas House. I liked Snow White and the bear.
Thanks! Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too Bebe!!
A lot of original Disney VHS's are worth a lot of money.
Maybe but like I said, i looked up Bambi and found one sealed for 99¢ but there were others selling for $300. IDK about you but if i were going to buy one, i would choose the cheap one. Lol Thanks for the comment!!
Sweet! Was hoping you would drop. Merry Christmas man!
Yup! Thanks for the comment and Merry Christmas!!
Your channel was a random suggestion, I saw what I liked so I subscribed! I like that you actually look at things, I'd be in there all day looking at books and magazines!
Great, glad you found me! Honestly, some of these places i could spend a whole day at as well, just looking at everything left behind. Thanks for the comment!!
Merry Christmas! Thank you for the great videos.
Thanks! Merry Christmas and glad you enjoyed it!!
very nice find, sad to see that train set left behind, thanks for showing
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!!
So many memories just left 😢. Alot of cool stuff left behind the train town was amazing but destroyed by water unfortunately.
I did think the children VHS movies would be worth something. Surprised that they are not.
I will never understand how people just leave everything it seems. Even if a builder buys you out with a lot of money why does the pictures and memories at least get taken or kids toys for memories or relatives family keepsakes 😢. I guess I am to sentimental.
I don't keep tons of stuff from the past from family members but I do keep all pictures and some sentimental things from family members who have passed. From time to time I look at the stuff its heartwarming to me 😊. That's just me apparently I assume.
I have Christmas stuff from family members that I put out at Christmas . Oh well I guess I am the weird one lol.
I enjoyed the video. I tell you its hard to understand why people steal copper and other stuff from people and these houses. I understand you can get money but is it really that much money,?? I feel like its to much trouble and risk for whatever you get to sell but I don't know. Thank goodness I am not in that situation to find out.
Thanks for sharing 😊
I know you are a grown man but I worry about you and the mold and decay in these abandoned places because of your health.
I know you wore a mask in the basement here but I wish you would more often. I need you well so we can keep getting these good videos.❤
Ya, I don't get the copper theft either, there is no way you can make more per hour doing that then even say a minimum wage job. I get the feeling that the people that do that sort of thing may have mental health issues. It's just so disrespectful too. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Love it it's a shame it's going to be tore down great video thank you and you and your family have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year 🎄⛄🤶🎄
Ya, that staircase was pretty great, a shame to lose it. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you too!! Thanks for the comment!!
Hi James 👋 Thank you for another great video ❤️Merry Christmas 🎄Please stay warm out there 🥰Cool video to see 😃
Glad you enjoyed it Fawn! Trying to stay warm but it is cold outside! Merry Christmas!!
You are welcome James 👍❤️😃
Video tapes are for watching, but for gathering dust! Sad that they didn't go ahead and watch their stuff, even if it just Disney.
Ya, IDK maybe they had bought them not long before they left and didn't have a chance to watch them? Who knows. Thanks for the comment!!
@@StaticSpaces No problem! Thanks for exploring!
Wow! I get to watch a video from one of my favorite explorers on Christmas! Merry Christmas James! Interesting find. From the looks of the mold in the basement there was some sort of flood - that water line was high. Too bad the train set was ruined. There was probably a ton of money spent on it. I can't believe all the pictures that were left behind. I'm thinking they left in a hurry, possibly because of the water? Thank you so much for going in that gross basement. Great explore!
Thanks Merry Christmas!! Ya, i think that basement has been flooded for a while, too bad but glad it wasn't very deep. Thanks again KMF!!
Eu fiquei enquadra com gelo acho muito lindo a casa 🏡 por fora muito linda 💕 como que pode água dentro da casa 🏠 eu gostei do vídeo parabéns
Wow 😎 🆒 nice family home 🏡🏠 looks like they were moving out then just disappeared then someone came in and tossed it
Ya bit of a weird situation. Thanks for the comments!!
Thanks for another great explore James. It seem like in alot of these abandoned homes, you find alot of Christmas decos. I wonder why they didn't take any of their personal possessions and photos. I guess when it comes to moving out they just leave everything behind. Thanks for being so respectful of these people's properties. Thanks for the tour. Happy Holidays!
Personally i don't very often find Christmas stuff in abandoned homes, i can only think of maybe 3-4 locations over the time i have been exploring. I would imagine some of the time capsules would have the decorations boxed away neatly somewhere though. Thanks for the comment Lisa and Happy Holidays!!
@@StaticSpaces Thank you James. You have a good day/night.
Hi James
James EW🤮. The house was cool but I can’t believe you went down in that creepy
and flooded basement. I guess there is nothing you won’t do for us your
subs. But seriously I hope you had a respirator mask on. That Static space was
gross with all that mold. Yeah I think the folks that lived here loved Christmas.
All those nice things down there floating around in the flood waters. At least the VHS
tapes were upstairs and saved. I think it was a nice explore and I like it. James I
would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and/or a Happy
Hanakkah which ever you celebrate. I know I spelled that wrong. But anyway have
a great time. I will see you in the next Static Space. Stay safe and healthy.❤
Ya, i had to see what else was in that basement and it payed off! I hope you had a Merry Christmas as well Irene and thanks for the comment!!
merry christmas and have a great year to come
Thank you, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Loving this one 😊
Great glad to hear it and thanks for letting me know!!
The mold may have started and driven them out, leaving them no choice but the leave everything behind as it carry’s the mold spores. Very sad, be safe!
Quite possible. Thanks very much for the comment!!
I was wondering about the reason for so much mold and mildew on the upper level at first as there didn't appear to be roof leakage, but then I thought about a flooded basement, and sure enough.
I used to own a house in western MN that ended up in a similar state after I sold it to a friend. He opted not to keep the heat on one winter and the water main burst, flooding the basement with about three feet of water. Needless to say it was a mess.
Yup, never turn off the heat unless all of the water is shut off, it can cause massive problems. Thanks for the comment!!
Perhaps everything was left behind because of the black mold. Mold spores hitch rides on clothing, furniture, etc. If they take these items to their new place, they'll eventually end up with a mold issue there as well. Black mold is difficult to eradicate, and it is a serious health threat. Be careful while exploring these types of places, especially in warmer weather. Cool video channel.
Ya, that could be the case. If it had been summer, i likely wouldn't have explored this one. Thanks for the comment!!
One idea occurred to me that perhaps this house was set up by a big family as a place to get together for Christmas. Family members left it set up with toys and christmas decorations all year long so they only had to arrive/make food and chill. Maybe the core family members passed away and this is what happened to the abandoned house.
It's entirely possible! Thanks for commenting!!
No way! They wouldn’t have their family photos there, and old baby items.
Ohhhhh my goodness those movies are worth alot of money where they are sealed
Lol Thanks for the comment!!
Gorgeous find my friend. ( It's Damien_quebec_urbex😉) This house deserves to be put back in order given all the stock it has to pay a nice tribute to the former owners.
I find James usually does that, at least to a certain degree, to get good photos.
Certainly was an interesting one? Thanks for the comment Damien!!
Yes, you're right Mandy, i do sometimes clean things up a bit during my visits.
Happy holidays James !
Thanks! Happy Holidays to you as well John!!
James what way to come with a outstanding vlog before Christmas. What is your Christmas going to look like?" ho ho ho Merry Christmas"
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Merry Christmas!!
The biggest thing (taking up needed space wise)
Christmas decorations!
That and the out of season clothes.
I used to volunteer at a thrift.
People lose their jobs because the workplace closed... they have health problems and can't afford the immense heating bills and new roof etc etc that the old house needs.
That's a hugely expensive place bills wise if you're on Assistance.
Edit
The Disney VHS tapes all trash.
The store throws out most as they rarely sell.
Not worth 5¢.
I have some sealed as well I couldn't give em away.
2 were unique I might keep but the Princess crap is everywhere and doesn't sell.
Yup, i even looked up the Disney VHS just so i could mention in the video they have no value but people still commented lol It seams to be an urban legend! Ya, Christmas decorations are a waste they just take up space 11 months out of the year. 😆 Thanks for comme ting!
@@StaticSpaces it's the VERY first series of VHS that were recalled...(& the recall in 1990 if I remember right), those are valuable.
999 out of every 1000 mom's returned the recalled ones so it's impossible to find them.
The staff told me the lowdown.
They get in a box full every week and zero of them are the collectible. Most never see the shelf as the soft cases are broken -garbage.
The 2 or 3 unbroken ones set out at $1 each.
The one lady said she bought a couple princess movies back when (brand new at the store) and then Disney sent the recall notice.
"We threw the notice out, eff em, I'm keeping them, cause we knew right away they'd be collectible later"
Zero I have seen (I've seen 100s) were the ones.
Some other VHS tapes are collectible as they were never released on DVD
Zero are Disney.
So sad that it’s flooded and full of mold. It has to be demolished unfortunately.
It definitely will be demolished soon i think, will be replaced with a larger and higher density development. Thanks for the comment!!
Please tell us you are wearing a mask with all the mold . Take care of you! I really like the swag light fixture. It looked like all the closet doors are gone ? This poor house with the mold factory basement. Thank you for sharing your find. Merry Christmas !
I double checked the upstairs footage and all the closet doors were there i think? Ya, some of those light fixtures were really great. Glad you enjoyed it and Merry Christmas!
The outside of the place looks perfect that's weird
Ya, a lot of the places the get demolished around here are in good condition still, they get demolished for redevelopment due to a lack of vacant land.
11:36 That may be a liquor/decorative bottle stopper. Or... perfume?
It could be, i wasnt really sure if it was a doorknob or not but the end does look more like a stopper.
The chest in the hallway didn’t have any Christmas decor on it, then in the photo it did?
Ya, those were the Dickens houses from the boxes i showed at the beginning of the video, i put them there so i could photograph them. Thanks for the comment!!
I need those VHS tapes..the Disney ones
There are so many available on ebay, go take a look, they are cheap too! Thanks for watching!!
Wedding album, that's alot of things they left, wonder what happened
Ya, seems as though they left just about everything behind. Not sure what happened but possibly the owner died. Thanks for the comment!!
You should of checked front of little mermaid vhs , hidden picture.
Oh right, i forgot about that! Thanks for the comment Leisa!!
@@StaticSpaces not many of those where printed. I have one still!
I wonder why they left all there stuff behind though 😳Thank you for the tour of the place James 👍You are awesome 😃
No idea, that is often the mystery of some of these locations. Thanks Fawn!!
You are welcome James 👍❤️😃
So sad
Photos are another thing
😘👍
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for commenting!!
I had to leave during the gross water in the basement. You need to be wearing a mask even if it's winter. All that black mold. I wonder how the basement became flooded. If it became before or after it was abandoned?
I was wearing a mask, you can hear it in the audio, i also left right after walking around in the basement and stirring up all that water. I would assume it flooded after the home was abandoned, since it had no power and the sump pump couldn't do its job any longer. Thanks for the comment!!
@@StaticSpaces I was just worried!! Lol You do get yourself into some dangerous and yucky places!! 😂 Merry Christmas!! Stay safe out there!
Haha, i am actually a very cautious person, if i think a place is dangerous, like collapsing floors or something, i would never attempt it!
The kid probably out grew toddler toys so they left them behind.
Definitely a possibility. Thanks for the comment!!
Wondering why didn't take vhs tapes
That was a bottle stopper
Thanks a lot for the comment!!
It’s too bad the basement is flooded James 😳
Ya, no kidding, there was a lot of cool stuff down there!
I hope your boots was water free James 😆😂🤣😅
I made sure of it, they are still pretty new, so no holes yet! 😆
That is great to here James 👍❤️😃
That box of train scale vehicles. Those aren't cheap because of the detail on them. They cost a lot more than your average Hot Wheel.
That was a bottle topper not a door knob
I had a feeling it might be but I'm not a big drinker, so i wasn't sure. Thanks for the comment!!
Can you maybe take those photos to the Authorities please
Why?
I don't think that was a door knob it was the lid to a bottle
Ya, more likely a bottle lid but it was the exact same size as a doorknob
🇧🇷🇧🇷👏👏👊👍🥰🥰🥰
Possibly something happened to the parents like killed in a car accident. Kids would go to other family members & house would go to the bank. Just sayin
Anything is possible! Sometimes these don't have a backstory easily available. Thanks for the comment!!
Basement look like sewer.
It was sooooo gross!!
What about the shop
It was completely empty so there was no point in filming it
It is very obvious that they were remodeling the house. just installed lighting, redoing the bath, brand new wooden bedframe still wrapped in plasric, new couch still wrapped in plastic, brand new mattress still wrapped in plastic. baby items. New videos for little ones. it is hard to understand why they walked away unless thghe mold started,
Well i got the impression that the things wrapped in plastic were because they were about to move and it was to keep them from getting damaged. Only some of the VHS tapes were sealed and they were in a big labelled box, looked like they ordered them online or something. Both the kitchen and the bathrooms were more recently renovated but they still looked well used, so i don't think it was all that recently. You do make an interesting point though and I'm not sure if we will ever know for sure. Thanks for the comment!!
Maybe a divorce he left her stuff she never came back
Could have been! Thanks for commenting!!
Damn some bad probably happened I see all the blood stains all over the corner of the mattress can't tell 100% sure what it looks like dried blood
I didn't notice any blood stains but maybe i missed it. Thanks for the comment!!
Show the front of the little mermaid
Don't worry, it's the one with the original cover that you can buy for $5 on ebay. Thanks for watching!!
