  • The Autumn Gala at the NYMR featured three visiting ex Great Western locomotives, Pannier 1501 from the Severn Valley, heavy freight 2807 from the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway and mainline certified Castle No.5029 'Nunney Castle'. Sadly 1501 had problems with a broken spring so was restricted to a few appearances running about at Grosmont.
    5029 'Nunney Castle' at Water Ark, Darnholme and two views at Moorgates.
    2807 at Beck Hole and Darnholme
    29 at Esk Valley with the freight, piloting 61264 (as 61036 'Chiru') and with the freight again at Darnholme.
    63395 at Water Ark, Beck Hole and Darnholme
    44806 at Esk Valley, 45428 at Water Ark and banked by 60007 at Esk Valley and 45428 and 44806 top and tail at Darnholme
    60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' at Beck Hole and Moorgates

    Fantastic sound from 5029. And 2807 (nice whistles too). What a lovely sight 29 makes with the Goods.

    I would have loved to have gone to this one Austin, but I knew I could rely on you to do the business....and what a treat you've produced...Stunning work as always, with the added bonus of a single chimney Castle working hard....I'm thrilled to watch it ...Thanks very much...Bob

      Many thanks Bob, it was wonderful to hear the bark from 5029 as she tackled those gradients with ease. As we've mentioned before it's hard to beat the NYMR for hard working locos in superb scenery

    Was the B1, as the Rev. Awdry would put it, a bit poorly? It had assistance from both the Lambton Tank and the class 25, with only five coaches.

    • @acw71000
      @acw71000  10 років тому

      Not as far as I know, that train had originated at Whitby and they run top and tail to avoid running round with the 25 leading to Whitby. The Lambton tank was due to be on the front of that train. I didn't see 61264 in action on the Saturday so it may have been 'poorly'. Maybe took exception to the Swindon intruders on its territory

    Hello, i hope you don't mind me asking but I'm visiting the NYMR in June and I was wondering if you could tell me how to get to Water Ark? Having some trouble finding a route on google maps lol Thanks!

    • @acw71000

      No problem. Take the road to Beck Hole and park opposite a large house on the right not far after the crossroads where the road goes down to Darnholme. There is a public footpath to the right of the house, follow that all the way down and you are there
