Great interview great information I'm a practicing Catholic but my parents are of the generation that you would never questioned the pope and of course I have been trying to just put blinders on and ignore all the missteps and choices and changes he's been making.. So glad to know I'm not alone so glad to know I'm not alone I love John Paul I love Benedict
Mr Reno is correct that a lot of our problems are generational. Our parish is exclusively dedicated to the Extraordinary Form (aka the Latin Mass), set up in 2008: the median age is 29, and there are kids all over the place; we have four parishioners in the seminaries (learning the Extraordinary Form), and two men in Traditional Monasteries. The future is with Tradition and Orthodoxy.
Quite a conversation. One that is not surprising, especially when it comes to a leader of a denomination who supposedly is the shepherd over the flock of the LORD Jesus Christ. When the leader of that church is more attuned to the things of the world and not the word of God then it is failing, deeply. When the leader of that denomination, no matter the denomination, is more concerned about "climate change" than the souls of their flock, then those who claim to follow Christ should run away from such heretical nonsense.
How do you get Bishop Strickland back. This is not a solution to ignore what has happened. He wont loose sleep what about Bishop Strickland in east texas what about that. Even the baptists in tyler texas love him and protested him being removed.
This isn't really a Protestant vs. Catholic thing. Let me put it this way. Anyone who thinks conventions of United Methodists, Episcopalians, and the ELCA are the voice of God are in deep trouble too. The struggle against secularism crosses all denominations.
@@glennlanham6309 Should be abundantly clear Jesus is both the foundation Acts 4:11 - 12, I Cor. 3: 11. And the head Eph. 5:23.it would be a mistake to think He gave them roles to Peter. Jesus worked through His Apostles.. As with Mary the RC gives out authority rather easily when it fits their dogma given by a man claiming to talk for God .Mary was a sinner for she claimed Jesus her lord. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. All except His Son. And if you think Jesus had to come through a sinless mother, you deny God His power.
Rusty Reno is a whole lot different from Marc Bauerlein of podcast First Things. What a disappointment that he was recommended by the bishop-of all the plethora of apologists and podcasters available. I suppose still waters run deep, as this man was a dud in demeanor and delivery. Mr. Hewitt, next time ask someone else for a referral, or find them yourself.
Love your podcast, but when it it comes to Catholicism, you lose me I WAS a Catholic but Left the church, Pope goes against the Word of God. It's very wrong and sin.
And eventually he returned. Regular listeners know that. At (1:00) Hugh clearly says, "And I left the Church for a long time: the Archbishop (Abp. Chaput) brought me back in." And the current pope is a problem for many of us. To Catholics, a pope is the successor of the Apostle Peter-- the Bishop of Rome, with a special responsibility to protect and promote our Holy Faith-- not a divine being. The current one gets a lot of friendly press, but he seems to have an agenda not consistent with the role of pope.

National Catholic Register is a good, quality Catholic newspaper

Remember when he called Trump “unchristian” and had no comment on the rabidly pro choice Hilary Clinton?
Love Bishop Chaput
No, the Washington diocese is not in good shape. The outgoing cardinal-archbishop has forbidden the celebration of the traditional Latin Mass.
Too much liberalism. I don’t ever see the pendulum swing back to the right as far as it does left.
wow, Soul Cages song by Sting as an intro.... respect. Hugh has great taste in music for sure

The Protestants know more than you think about a guy who the Church of Rome says is God's voice on earth. If he is the voice of God, your in trouble.

Matthew 16:16-19 is pretty clear...and Peter died as Bishop of Rome...thus...God's vicar...

Bishop Baron has an excellent pod cast with Word on Fire.

How can anyone take the pope and Roman Catholicism seriously in the first place?
Give us your reasoning, instead of un-biblical opinion

Is the pope Catholic? Nope
Correct
