I was sitting down on the fence next to where the players come out. Me and my mates got there at 8am. We were warned how packed it would be. They were right.
That was because many thought it was a possible grand final preview. This match was near the beginning of a sustained Balmain losing streak, but it was thought that they did look the goods up until then. You'd get that in those days, that being an exceptionally large crowd early to mid-season when two sides thought to be the big two came together.
Pringle was off-side. Maybe not by much but he was ahead of the kicker, whilst in full motion and not from a standing start. Sometimes the ref calls those, but sometimes not. Branigan did not mind the tackle because he appreciated there being no illegal thuggery with it. And you can note the Balmain captain, Trevor Ryan, with ' Well, that has cost us ', regarding field position, and so forth.
He was a poser & played to the camera. Bill Harrigan, while not being quite as flamboyant, adopted a similar attitude. They were both known as Hollywood,by the way 😂😂
@@absoluteb22 Artie Beeston didn't appreciate it 1 day down at Brookvale in a pre- season game in 1977...I think & no more did Neil Pringle in Round 11 of 1976 at Brookvale 😂😂
I was at that game as a child. I was seated in the North East corner, just up from the fence. I remember the Pringle incident, very well.😀

Hartley once grabbed Dallas Donnelly by the hair. Dallas allowed it, he knew who was the big boss at the end of the day
Pringle looked level there 😆
Rex seems to sound a lot more excited and aggressive in these 76-77 videos. Im noticing the play seems to be quicker as well?
Pringle 👍🤙
Pringle at his best before he came down with a mystery virus which derailed his career?
Hartley did not back down from anyone it seems!
Corrupt showpony in debt to bookies (sent Price off two years in a row in semi's) and disgracefully disrespectful to players.

Mossop was biased as anything when his beloved Sea Eagles played.
He certainly was biased for Manly 🦅😂😂.
Everybody knew it...& most loved the way he went on about them.
A few didn't ofcourse 😂
Ol' Hollywood had his favourites.
Are these the news only edits? Does the whole game exist somewhere?
No
The full match must exist because it has commentary and multiple cameras at the ground.
Ch 7 threw the videos out
