The original FUNimation dub did the scream okayish. I mean, it was more of a shout than a scream but still did it's job. However while I like Bruce Faulconer's score, it did not fit with a scene as important as this. DBKai (this) did the scream much better than the FUNimation dub, but it still sounds kind of disingenuous. And also the score was okay, but not anywhere close to as good as the original Japanese DBZ score. Speaking of, anybody know the name of the gent who wrote the music for the original incarnation of DBZ? In any case, TFS' voice actor for Gohan, MasakoX, in my opinion perfectly captured both the explosion of anger and anguish Gohan is feeling in that moment.

Hear me out: I think there could be an even more perfect version of this scene. Listening to a variety of versions of this scene and the pros and cons of each, I realize that Kai screwed up one of the best parts of this scene. If you go and rewatch the DBZ Japanese version of this scene, you'll notice that the narrator comes in earlier, and he gets out of the way before that last shot of Gohan. Then, there is an extremely powerful moment where without any dialog or narration Gohan's energy just gets louder and louder. It gets so loud that it begins to drown out the music, giving an effect that makes it feel like Gohan's powers are getting so strong that they are disrupting the video itself. It was a great effect that you might not notice until you pay closer attention, and it leaves you absolutely pumped since it ends on such a crescendo of power. It seems like Kai shortened the scenes of Cell and Goku where the narration used to fit, then moved it on top of Gohan's final shot, then the sound had to be adjusted so you could understand the narrator. I think this was bad, and they really should have moved the narration slightly backward so it still ended by the time we got to Gohan and left the effect in place. I doubt anybody cares enough about this other than me to try to fix it, but I think that version would be pretty much perfect. I'd also want to see what that a similar version would feel like with the Faulconer Gohan Anger theme, as I've warmed up more to that lately especially after not liking either of the songs Kai used for this scene. But I don't have the technical knowledge to do that, and I doubt anybody really cares about this one stupid sound effect as much as me! Either way, this is very good! Just got here 11 years too late.
While the voice acting wasn't up to scratch in the original, I actually liked the dialogue changes, particularly Cell taunting Gohan for failing to save 16.
Josh Sinclair It seems every version of this beautiful transformation did something right. Although I think the Funi dub takes away from this scene when Gohan has his inner-monologue about 16. It almost ruined it for me. But the Japanese version's music and roar(with the Oozaru), The Funi dub's Cell lines, and Kai's 16 speech, and Gohan scream. My only issue with Kai is that it's a bit shorter, as evident with how the song barely reaches the chorus when the scene ends(in the original, the chorus started when the iconic SSJ2 tears shot went on screen)
