Knockout put enough effort into his assigned tasks to narrowly avoid invoking Megatron's wrath and wasn't actively trying to overthrow him until Starscream got involved lol, so I guess Megatron saw it as a waste of time to go for Knockout when Starscream was the REAL offender lmao

    • @TheDaxter11

Plus unlike other Decepticons Knockout never really tried to overthrow or go against Megatron. Sure he decided to go along with Starscream when Megs was in a coma, but that was about it. That was like, _one_ instance since Megatron met him. The only other character who's never tried to go against Megs is Soundwave, who never, not once, had beef with Megatron or tried to go against orders or overthrow him. He rarely if ever failed Megatron.
I'm willing to bet the only reason Megatron ever got harsh with him or Breakdown is because they had a tendency to fail him from time to time, but because it wasn't as much as other Decepticons, and Knockout had a medical role with Breakdown being his assistant, he never felt it necessary to give them more than a few harsh words and light threats. (Not saying he wouldn't back the threats up, but that they weren't as bad compared to how he's threatened others in the past.)

His silence spoke pretty loudly when he uses actions.
Also the way other characters treat him is a great way of showing that deference.
He’s one of very few that Megatron will treat respectfully, even Starscream will toe the line when Soundwave is around, he quite clearly establishes his superiority and extreme loyalty when he effortlessly humiliated Airachnid and his cunning by breaking himself out of captivity with only Lazerbeak to help, and is perhaps the only character precise enough to use Space Bridges in personal combat.

    Transformers Prime had god-tier representation:
    - Knock Out was great LGBT representation, being an extremely likeable and occasionally badass villain with really no bad stereotype to him
    - Arcee was an amazing strong female protagonist that doesn't feel manipulatively empowering and was a great character all around
    - Agent Fowler was an amazingly competent black man who could also be very funny
-Megatron was some extremely rare representation of a wall-eyed character that's cunning and badass
-Bumblebee was an amazing disabled character that can still accomplish a lot, and, frankly, so was Starscream after he lost his TCog

      @UnderChromey 2 роки тому +54

While yes, technically he's the sixth Knock Out/Knockout he's not really remotely a reinterpretation like Optimus, Ratchet, Megatron, Starscream et al are. He is a completely new distinct character who just happens to share the same name as some rather obscure or insignificant characters. The other characters I would say come even close to this are Breakdown and Airachnid (the former bearing little resemblance to the previous Stunticon or Velocitronian counterparts and the latter being entirely original) however they both match very closely to tropes of other characters they clearly take the place of (Lugnut and Blackarachnia respectively) which does leave Knock Out still somewhat unique here.

It was used to further the plot, set up a cliffhanger that would translate into the season 2 finale, establish Starscream's new personality, and the best part, was we had two amazing voice actors just hamming it up in-between clips. It truly shows that there is so much more to the concept of a Clipshow episode, than just a cheap copout.

I actually thought it was great that Knockout actually becomes a reluctant autobot and even is praised by Prime in the “rise of the predictions” movie special.
One of the things that the show made clear was that While Knock Out has a sadistic streak, it usually when he’s been motivated or angered to be so
Also he’s never actually that cruel undeservedly, he does seem like the kind of bot who gives back what he receives
if you’re kind and or loyal him, he is not against being the same
it makes sense that not all Cons will suddenly just go back to being pally with autobots but Knock Out, even Shockwave seem more logical and more open to beneficial cooperation then militant dogmatic hatred like star scream
Knock Out i think is also smart enough to realize that the autobot wouldn’t double deal or betray him like the other cons have done many times, he can count on them to have his back if he’s genuine and willing to reform.

    • @andyskill810
      @andyskill810 Рік тому +1

TLDR: Starscream is open to cooperation, and actually good at it, as well as suited to actually help his aliies, whoever they are, as long as he benefits from it. More explanation below.
Well, to be completely honest, Starscream, while being a militant and a narcissist on par with Knockout, he is geniunely worried for the actual fate of cybertron, albeit under his command, but, remember this, he is:
      1) An actual military AND civilian commander(Seekers were not just all warriors, though all of them were highly trained)
      2) He joined the cause becauce of the original meaning of it, and while sleek, was actually concerned about the caste system while being at the top of hierarchy(just like Soundwave)
I choose to not let the movie end for Starscream to be the case, considering how he was written, after being rejected his groveling from post-trauma Megatron, he could geniunely stepped up to Optimus and say lines along "well i guess we are on the same team now", which honestly is the case here. He is overproud and narcissistic at times, but when it is time to stop, he stops.
Coming back to your comment on that he is not open to cooperation, honestly, he very much is, at least until the writers decide he isn't. It is a recurring problem that some characters in TFP do not do what they most likely would do in a said situation.
He is honestly a better survivalist then Knockout, so him just trying to seize the command of decepticons after Megatron goes back to neutral is kind of a bad writing decision.
Tere is no war to be waged anymore, since now both sides are willing to build the new society as the original decepticon cause wanted to, so for his own sake the best he could do is pledge allegiance to the cause of rebuilding Cybertron and restoring the society, which would then move him back to his rightful place as Seeker Commander as Seekers return to Cybertron from all corners of the galaxy and learn what happened. He is more then suited to be a leader, heck, he was a leader for millenia prior to the war.
All in all, I see movie Starscream as a fluctuation in his character that should have never been the case.
TLDR: Starscream is open to cooperation, and actually good at it, as well as suited to actually help his aliies, whoever they are, as long as he benefits from it.

    • @mckenzie.latham91
      @mckenzie.latham91 Рік тому +1

@@andyskill810 I will say that Starscream’s commitment to the cause and species depends on which adaption he’s in
I would further say that the Starscream from Prime is more like the original 1986 counterpart and is both a coward and a selfsh manipulator
he might care about the fate of the species but only in how it affects him, and he would be the first to abandon at the slightest moment the fight went poorly and or he was threatened
In fact we have that here since in the final series Movie, when A possessed megaton (By unicorn) unleashes a sea of undead predictions to poison the heart of Cybertron
Star scream plans to take the Decepticon warship and abandon the planet until Knock Out knocks him out, defects to the Autobot side and helps them to protect Cybertron
One of the main reasons Starscream in later season 2 and most of 3 is more dedicated to the cause was to ensure his safety from Megatron since the majority of season 1 and 2 Starscream’s schemes and power struggles hindered Megatron, got Starscream nearly scrapped many times over, and thus keeping him happy and being useful is the way he keeps alive. Self preservation.
Yes Starscream is open to cooperation with enemies or rivals for mutual benefit but he is fully willing to betray and or drop that the moment it becomes inconvenient
yes Starscream is more of a survivalist then Knock out because his entire mantra is to survive at any cost, no matter how many lies and or desperate this you have to do
I always assumed that Starscream if he survived the predictions would return to cybertron but would only do so because it was impossible to carry on the deception cause and it was the best way for him to have any real power and or influence anymore
because that’s all the character cared about deep down.
I actually did not like the sequel series and their use of decepticons or star scream so i agree there

As a kid I was confused thinking he was just being his deceitful, conniving self.. with them not showing his expressions, or body language, or thoughts... But now, they likely didn't show those things because, he WASN'T being that for one sec. Makes sense as well with him knowing of, and not being the biggest #1 fan of the stuff in this continuity. And matches too with him not having a "deceitful" reaction to Megatron in the last episode
Reading the Wind Blade comics right now, I think it's good! The art's appealing and story's kinda interesting(plus I imagine similar things happening after the events Prime/the movie) Nice lore.
And yes, very much enjoy BreakDown + KnockOut.
So glad they can continue being together, where BreakDown is alive. Poor dudes 🥺

In Prime, Starscream spends the first season being that traditionally conniving and scheming “stab you in the back” type of enemy of megaton,
But when megaton returns from coma stasis, Starscream despite having been punished badly for it, continues to be that character until a point in the second season where Megatron spares Starscream and starscream decides that he is better off following Megatron then being destroyed by him
That's why he starts to genuinely show concern and or at least is far more loyal from that point to the end of season 3 and the movie.

knockout wasn't an entirely new character made for tf prime. The name "Knockout" was created way back in G2 for a minicon character. The character wasn't popular at all. Later the writers for tf prime decided to make a new incarnation of the character, this time not as a minicon. The new incarnation is the knockout we all know and love (if you don't believe me go and watch Chris Mcfeely's video on knockout)

Soundwave was not present when Knockout and Starscream schemed behind his back. In the laboratory he merely witnessed Starscream being his usual self indulging self. Soundwave would not have a reason to distrust Knockout, it would merely seem like his medical opinion. But Starscream his need to gloat the moment Megatron was supposedly killed in action that is what set off Soundwave. He had no surveillance of Knockout being treacherous. Also, in regards to the episode “Speed Metal,” the idea of Knockout sneaking out to a street race is funny when you consider that he would have use the groundbridge to get off the Nemesis, then just drive around until he catches wind of a race after dark. And considering he’s done this multiple times, Knockout would have to use the groundbridge every time he wants to go street racing.

About Knock Out in sequel show (aka Robots in Disguise), he technically did made a small cameos in 2 episodes...
Season 2 episode 9: "Impounded " when Autobots, Bumblebee and Strongarm are trapped in the impound lot, there among the cars is Knock Out's vehicle mode...same model shows up in Season 3 episode 10: "Disordered Personalities"
where, in Knock Out's traditional manner, it was participating in road race. As expected, some fans started to speculate on possibility of this being subtle hints towards Knock Out's surprise return, but as Kitty Monk already said, nothing came of it. (Yeah, you can already tell how many people actually liked this show)
I personally like to believe Knock Out returned to Earth sometime after Prime ended, in order to live a peaceful life, hiding in plain sight.
Especially since in finale of Robots in Disguise (spoiler alert btw) it was revealed that High Council that took over leadership of Cybertron after Great war had ended, were actually Decepticons in disguise, pulling strings behind most of the significant events in that show...
Knock Out, a Decepticon who decided to switch sides once the faction seemingly lost the war,...doesn't sound like someone High Council would spare...
Thank you for staying on my ted talk :)

While he's not in the sequel series (which there's a lot of debate if it really is but thats a whole other thing), there is what many people consider his and Breakdowns sparkling (transformers version of a biological kid) in it named Wildbreak who had Breakdowns color scheme with bits of Knockouts personality mixed with G1 Breakdowns (in G1 Breakdown was a bit more skittish and was part of the Stunticons who would combine into Menasor). He takes Breakdowns place in RiD for the Stuntacons, which if Breakdown was originally part of the Stuntacons in the Aligned continuity means that he took one of his dads places in the team - which if true, is a pretty sweet deal for the rest of the Stuntacons to be able to get closure with that!
The show runners (writing staff not execs) have said before that Knockout and Breakdown were supposed to be officially together but couldn't due to yknow... 2010's reasons.

Sparklings are normally created through spark merging, where a smaller spark is created from the merge and attaches itself to one of the mechs, known as Carriers! After a while of growing the sparks are transferred to sentio metalico (living metal) to eventually grow into a full protoform! There's a whole profession for this, since theres a risk of the metal not being able to read the sparks code, and it's a very delicate process to mold the metal to the spark by hand and takes years to master. One of the few Trans mechs Anode has a whole story beat of it in the Lost Light comic, she does this process in LL#3!

Several plot threats were left hanging Blackarachnia and Waspinator, the Starscream clones and the worst offender Sari. After her upgrade she bearly appeared and her origins was not really explored; apparently the showrunner were told to concentrade on the toy characters.
I catched an episode during season 2 and gave it a propper chance and rewarched the series.

TFA certainly deserved to finish its stories, but I don't hold it against Prime. I'm much more salty over EMH getting cut though.

@@bthsr7113 and getting replaced by a version that is closer to the movies while beeing rather stupid. At least it felt like that from what I have seen. AA was a downgrade, but at least the show did not bring up a new storyarc in the last season but left it in a cliffhanger, I am looking at you x-men Evolution and Lucas / David. Show was still good, created X-23 and I love the friendship between Kitty and Kurt, the two had the best connection to most people in the cast

Animated was canceled because hasbro wanted to make their own channel and animated needed to get cancelled for that to happen.

I watched my first few episodes randomly and my first exposure to him was when he was cat calling Optimus of all people.
That shit slayed me so good, he immediately won me over to watch the show for real.

FUCK YEAH TRANSFORMERS. I do think the IDW1 comics were a bit more mature than Transformers Prime though. that being said, you can get away with more in comics than cartoons.

Uh Kitty, I wouldn't exactly call the Michael Bay films mature.

It bugged me at first because he’s a Decepticon, but I got it, Knockout LIKES Cars. I can understand that. Planes are cool, but driving can be great.

Knock Out is just *FABULOUS~* -cue 'I'm Fabulous' from Phineas and Ferb-. But yeah, Knock Out was definitely a strong character who could've kept going

To me soundwave really does not like starscream, who remembers at the beginning of season 3 when starscream finds that picture of ratchet, soundwave never mentions it despite at this point the audience should know that most if not all information going through the nemesis soundwave should know about

Always wanted a Zoolander style walk-off between Knock Out and Tracks.
I recognize the queer coding, but it shows the difficulty between personality and identity. What made Knock Out fun (his sass, his irreverence) comes from his personality. He's not sassy to fill a gay stereotype, he's sassy because he's Knock Out. The same way his survival instincts are a part of his personality. It is an interesting question where personality ends and identity begins.

Knockout was one of my favorite Decepticons in the show. He was so funny, and he was one of my favorite cars. He was also voiced by my favorite voice actor. :)
