I don't own Family Guy or any of the clips or images used. All copyright belongs to the respective owners. I merely claim Fair Use for the purpose of criticism.
Man thats a cutoff, i was invested i wanted to hear the rest that you were gonna say
I’m sorry, I warned y’all! Ricardo and Jasper were quite angry!
LOL
GREAT KITTY MONK FAMILY GUY IS JASPER GRIFFIN OFFENSIVE VIDEO ESSAY,
Mommy Abigail uploaded on my 32nd birthday today and I'm bi.
ok wasnt just me
Not to an extreme, he was a fun character. Granted it was implied he manipulated a man into marrying him who wasn’t gay IIRC.
Oh, right. It was a deleted scene.
@@robbyrobaDeleted scenes in media are kinda tricky because they are kinda in a limbo of canon, in my opinion if it doesn't cause contradictions then it could be canon in your interpretation
@Eric6761 I still remember Stewie deleting all of Brian's siblings for petty reasons. If that was canon, I could see a multiverse Brian pulling an Evil Morty.
But sadly he's dating a human like his cousin Brian does.
I wouldn’t call Jasper offensive. He’s just the overused Frankie Grande-esque example of gay men that film and tv have a hard time getting away from. Which can be accurate representation of course but isn’t the only way to do it.
It was the early 2000s the only gay characters were jasper basically just a stereotype or extremely flamboyant
At least it didn’t end like the Sopranos and cut to
Apologies once again, but Jasper and Ricardo were so offended at what I said that they got Katherine to cut off the last 30 seconds
I'd say he is offensive because he is boiled down to stereotypes, used for comedy, or is just all about sex; they don't make him seem like a REAL person...or dog I guess.
I got banned from a subreddit for bringing this up
r/familyguy is soooo ban-happy
Eh, reddit is basically a den of douches who are on their high horses, led by a bunch of neckbeards. Still, you have a valid point. So, how would give Jasper a proper character
I'd rather listen to Jasper more than Brian, because Jasper isn't a pretentious narcissist.
He's offensive in that he's stereotypically annoying. Not outright hateful offensive, but its like having a black character constantly yell during movies or a woman talk about shoe shopping all the time, its lazy.
It is lazy and overused and outdated.
@@seeleunit2000funny cos I’ve met plenty of gay people who are similar to Jasper 😂😂😂 Of course it is somewhat a stereotype but Jasper isn’t negatively depicted, he’s actually one of the nicer people on the show. Just a lovable goof
Terry from The Cleveland Show wasn't the stereotypical gay man. He was gay but he acted more normal.
Because he was playing the stereotypical gay man who is acting straight to hide
Jasper is one of my favorite characters on family guy. I especially love that seen you just showed where he says he's from the Philippines I know I know I'm a rice queen
He's adorable and sassy, i don't think he's offensive at all.
The fudge joke is my favorite joke in early family guy it's hilarious
@@MeepmcarthurtheSECOND true😂😂
Jasper is the living embodiment of Yass Queen Slay, if you dislike Jasper you dislike the spirit of Yass Queen Slay.
I could be wrong, but I think there's old Capn Crunch commercials that show him sailing the sea with a small crew of some kids and a dog. Pretty sure his enemy was a pirate.
I live in Indiana, and there’s actually decent Greek population around the state. There’s a lot of Greek owned family diners, I recommend a gyro or baklava
If Jasper is offensive the so is almost every gay guy that acts exactly like him
That's the point. Gay characters that act like Jasper are supposed to be walking stereotypes of gay people. An out-of-date ones too
Early 2000s gay character
Flamboyant or just gay sex joke and just a stereotype@@seeleunit2000
Good video! It should be noted that he also appears in a cutaway during The Thin White Line.
32:00 why is Peter’s stepdad Francis at Jasper’s GAY wedding? considering he hates Brian and is extremely catholic how did he get on the guest list
Honestly Francis the kinda guy to show up just to be a dick during it the dude's last words was to mock Peter 😂
He’s not offensive, but he is outdated!
Incredibly outdated
Plus, Bruce lives in Quahog, Jasper lives in LA
I’d say he is a running gag that has run its course.
oh a thing why Jasper isn't in the show.... because Seth doesn't write for Family guy any more, it's just some no talented hacks who write for it, Peter being a good but dumb dad? gone, Lois being a good mom? gone, Meg being a teenager girl? gone, and Brian being the voice of reason? gone, because the newer writhers who thinks there writing is some shit, why family guy worked in the older seasons because it was new, showing how a real family acts but no longer, and why family guy clones don't work, because they don't have a fanbase, they try so hard being edgy that it doesn't have heart
And The jokes are so much worse now when they have to explain the joje
Kitty uploads a video
Me: What i missed?
Kitty mentioned Hollywood: I would say here in LA is wallet breaking, hot, hard to self establish place to live. When my north Carolina photographer cousin, her son, and my aunt came, they were fish out of water, and I understood. Last Saturday, my uncle's birthday, he lives in Ontario, and it was SCORCHING. I thought my shoes were melting. That was a joke.
Naw. I worked with a guy that acted pretty much like Jasper. He was a mean funny dude 😂 str8 crazy
Jasper's awesome, a really fun cute character. Im pan, and i personally never found him offensive. But i do understand why others can.
Oh thank god jasper ain't my cousin he seems like one of those characters who can't be quiet for 5 minutes
2:23, what show is that Jasper from?
Gay guy here and I don’t find Jasper offensive. I know plenty of guys like him.
agreed. i love Jasper. stereotypical gay bottom during the 2000s/2010s. knew two gay dudes exactly like that.
Jasper may be gay at least he's not using it for shock humor unlike everybody else like Peter, Stewie and even Quagmire.
Chicken!
i love jasper, i saw much of myself in him.
"chicken!"
Is jasper a griffin? I thought Brian was because he was adopted, but that would mean it was only Brian, right? Idk lolz
I'm LGBTQ, and I find him to be one of the nicest Family Guy characters. Aside from that one deleted scene, I don't see a problem with Jasper. Is he a gay stereotype? Eh, sort of. Is he offensive? Nah. Family Guy has WAYYYY more problematic characters than Jasper. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Jasper more often.
He is too good for that world.
Brain griffin
@26:59 you said that word so wrong. You have to pronounce like the sixth graders from South Park. “Bewwwbs!”
He's a gay stereotype.
_But not really an offensive one._
Like...HERBERT would be more of an offensive gay stereotype to define your queer charavters by, *if you get what I mean.*
I don't think he's really offensive. I just wish Jasper could have more characterization beyond being a flamboyant gay stereotype.
To me Jasper isn't offensive but perhaps annoying and underdeveloped as a character where the stereotype becomes his character. However I've dated and met people who are like Jasper and they are fun and such a character but Jasper needs a bit more depth
Kitty Monk, do it! I want a Carter and Babs video done ASAP! And, Bruce too. #ForTheFans
For me, I've never really liked Jasper. I found him an annoying stereotype at best. Then we get to his wedding episode and not only is he basically a prop on top of being annoying stereotype (along with no one pointing out the could just move the venue to the next town over, but that's besides the point), but we have that infamous deleted scene which is sadly the only real bit of characterization we have for Ricardo in the series. Knowing about that scene just drags down an already poorly done episode.
Still, one thing thing that really bugged me about this episode where it's another episode where Brian, by definition, becomes a terrorist in order to get his way. There's this episode and the episode where a Totally Not Wal-Mart comes to Quahog which has a negative impact on the town, so Brian and Stewie decide the best course of action is the destroy the store with a tank, along with murdering at least one guy in the process. It's really reminding me of that censored speech from the South Park ep, 201, only with South Park, you knew it was making fun of the network and such views, where as with Family Guy, it seems to be in favor of Brian's actions. "If you're fighting for a cause you find is just, it's okay if you hold someone hostage at gunpoint, destroy a store, causing millions of dollars in damages and killing at least one uninvolved civilian."
Still, that episode just reminded me of the ending to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, where the head of Roxxon points out that if The Tinkerer blew up his building like Brian did, they have insurance and this would likely paint a bad picture of Brian and his movement. Anyway, I'm rambling, so I'll stop now.
I enjoy Jasper. He's a good dude and seems to care about those around him. He's a "sissy," which is a behavior pattern that exists. It's not bad or good; some of us (gay dudes) are just like that.
As a gay man I've never found him offensive. He's a cartoon and he's funny. There are feminine gay men like him irl though but are a minority albeit vocal in the gay community. Most gay men I've met are not like him though.
i have a crush on Jasper he is so dam cute
Depends who you ask. An average everyday 9-5 25k/year person would say no because they have bigger problems than an offensive stereotype while a current year college educated social media addicted person would say yes because the algorithm, a functioning human hive mind, has deemed it so.
Well he's funny and that's what truly matter. But if someone is offended by him shhhhhh. You're in the wrong and the world needs more laughter.
I don't find Jasper to be offensive, but I do find him to have a flat personality and overall boring and just a little bit annoying. His character barely even stems of stereotypical gay jokes, just gay and that's it. Now, I don't hate Jasper by any means, in fact, I think the character has a lot of potential not bringing used. But because of that, he's barely worthy enough to be a side character, background character, or making an appearance for plot convenience. It feels like like a lot of his appearances are for filler purposes so bland and un important that the episodes would've been exactly the same if he wasn't in it.
I actually want to like Jasper, and I see great potential in him, but because those potentials aren't being used, that becomes his downfall.
"one room please" shoulda been all that hotel exchange was. Who cares what people think. For better or for worse to be honest.
it dont matta
nona dis matters.
Memphis Stormfront isnt gay.
I Think Jasper and Ricardo are just Token "Joke" Characters who are just here for the sake of being here without a Proper Purpose.
and No; Jasper is not an Offensive Character, just a Useless Wasted Token "Joke" Character in my Opinion.
What a Disappointment. I'm not a Cynic. I'm just Disappointed.
You should do a Bruce video next.
Speaking as a gay man myself, I don’t think he’s offensive. With that said, I’ve almost never related to gay rep in media in general since a lot of them lean into stereotypes I don’t connect with, so I see Jasper as more of a prop to fulfill a role in than someone for me to think “Wow that’s me on TV!”
Speaking as a bi woman, I would say Jasper is moreso a caricature of gay men, not a stereotype. He's just meant to be a "hey look a gay character!" type of character unlike someone like Bruce who has other qualities that make him endearing. Jasper is there for jokes and to make the main cast change in some way, nothing more. That's why he's one of the most minor of minor characters. The issue is that they made him far too one-dimensional to be an interesting character
Meh, hes at worse boring, at best nice addition.
I don’t think Jasper is offensive. He is definitely over exaggerated of a stereotype. Lots of shows do over exaggerating of stereotypes.
I'm offended.
Is everyone in Brian's family a jerk or is it just him and Jasper?
No but i hate the voice, as a bi man that doesnt do the voice lol
If a cartoon offends you, you need to take a long hard look in the mirror and then grow up
Even if he's a stereotype, he's still more likable than Brian himself.
A fair point.
God I miss

@@MeepmcarthurtheSECONDme too hopefully since meg is being treated more respectfully we can see more of the 1999 to 09 brian

he's definitely a reflection of the stereotypes of the time but i personally don't find him offensive and i'm queer af. he's funny and kind, if a little bit obnoxious-- but basically everyone in FG is obnoxious lmao
The difference between Family Guy's usual obnoxiousness and that of Jasper is the fact most of the show's writing consists of fart jokes, vomiting, abusing Meg and dumb cutaway gags.
Whereas Jasper, while oddly flamboyant, is a relatively nice and funny character
Dude, even back then during 2007 those gay stereotypes still were very out of date and offensive. It was riff from the 80s and 90s stereotypes about gay people
Short answer no he isn’t over offensive but they just wanted to convey the idea of jasper being gay as I have a friend whom are very flamboyant and is gay like jasper is so if anything thing I would say jasper isn’t offensive in my opinion.
Yeah my sister’s guy best friend is pretty flamboyant sometimes but I absolutely love him. I see him as my little brother and was very happy when he came out. I always knew even before he decided to come out to us. I was just waiting for him to be comfortable to do so. Shockingly it was my sister who was shocked. Lol.
Honestly jasper is a favorite of mine. He's one of the only sane people in the show. The thing is also I can't be openly gay or act gay at all, for some reason I just envy acting like that without being mocked or called a disgusting monster. Also I find him a nice change of pace in the show compared to the random stuff In the show
Yep. It may be stereotypical, but it isn’t inherently offensive as these types of gay guys exist who are very flamboyant or “fruity”.
Besides Jasper is still a better person than Brian anyways.
@@rachelc.8143 not saying much
Since modern Brian deserves to be in jail
Are you gay? No then your opinion doesn't matter. Even then it doesn't matter you don't get to tell other people what's offensive to them.
I think of all the LGBTQ reps in Macfarlane’s shows,
Roger, Greg, and Terry (both AD and TCS) seem to be the least offensive. Mainly because they seem to actually be characters and not constant “lol, different” cracks every now and then. Compared to Jasper, Ida, Bruce, Jeffrey, Aunty Momma, all from Family Guy and The Cleveland Show, I can at least say that American Dad handled this concept the best.
Roger's a pdf...
@@garuelx8627yeah Roger dates minors and does stuff that quagmire wouldn't dare to do
@@MeepmcarthurtheSECOND Quagmire literally saw a Highschool Cheerleader tied up in a bathroom stall and said "Dear Diary, Jackpot!"

@@garuelx8627 Roger's horrible but he's a fun character that is a complete character.
Representation is good and bad. Being able to handle both ends demonstrates an acceptance into the world rather than as an "Other" who is above reproach, or below applaud.
as a gay male, i never found jasper offensive. i wish they brought him back.
tho like… i also wish they brought New Brian back thanks to all that timeline shenanigans. New Brian might actually make a less offensive gay dog if they really need one.
Is he offensive?
Depends if flamboyant people piss you off...
They can get annoying to me
@@Lavender2005 they piss me off definitely
Minor correction, Memphis isn't gay. That was the ending joke, Stan and Francine think he is and tell him and Greg to kiss much to his dismay because he's scared of the Smiths.
I don't think Jasper is that much of a gay stereotype like everything else in Family Guy
Well here's an observation. The furry community seems to love Jasper. I see fanart of Jasper quite commonly on furry-centered websites. Also to point out how the furry community seems to thrive off of queerness, so the fact they love Jasper seems to make sense to me since Japser is a cartoon dog and openly queer.
Jasper is openly gay.
If people can say queer why can’t I say h-o-m-o?
Because I would say he’s openly h-o-m-o-sexual and it’s just as valid as heterosexual, and I like it more than queer just for accuracy’s sake
If we’re allowed to take back terms and all that.
6:55 Thank You I'm not the only one, Seth McFarlane shows will always have characters ramble about nothing just saying non sequiturs. While the other character stares silently waiting for them to finish and bring the conversation back to the plot.
I felt like that for years. Seriously it was not funny the first time and it wasn't funny that thousandth times they did it.
@@seeleunit2000that's why I hate family guy it's horrible and unbearable to watch
"Captain" Crunch isn't a Captain. I read that the decorations on His uniform actually mean He's an Admiral.
He’s not a Griffin, he wasn’t adopted by the family unless you count that one cutaway before he was properly introduced as Brian’s cousin
EXCELLENT WORK. KITTY MONK FAMILY GUY JASPER GRIFFIN 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😇😇😇😘
Jasper seems to be a decent character, probably why writers pretend he doesn't exist.
What's probably more offensive is Ida Davis when she is used like this:
"This is a public place, you can't watch porn here"
"It's okay, I'm Trans"
"Oh, my apologies. Do what you want all the time."
No wait kitty I didn't even hear you describe the scene I paused That's exactly how I remember Chris getting dumped
yyayy!! Omg i luv when u post
I forgot Jasper existed for a while
The most I ever think about him is "Oh right Jasper is his stereotype gay cousin they barely use anymore"
Because, yeah, when the character is just a bunch of gay jokes it's kinda hard to actually think of entertaining ways to use them, especially nowadays.
In general I just think Family Guy feels shallow, not just with rep but with many of it's characters as a whole. So they rarely etch out a permanent place in my mind besides "Yeah I kind of remember them/those moments with them" at most.
That's what I've been saying for years. The first three seasons were fine. And then a season 4 and onward it was a downward spiral. A long downward spiral that lasted for years
Early family guy it seems like they actually tried to be funny but season 4 onward they relied on stupid pop culture references and Conway Twitty
The worst part is the downfall of my favorite character brian. Who started out as a man of reason and of culture who turned into a scumbag liberal stereotype it's terrible@@seeleunit2000

Have you ever heard of DLAbaoaqu? He’s a cartoon reviewer who hated Family Guy seasons 4 and beyond because “they made Brian a liberal”, “killed off a bunch of cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, Jane Jetson and Yogi Bear” and “made a lot of 80s references”. He did a review on that episode where he ranted like a mad man on how unfunny the jokes are, accused Brian of being a terrorist just for helping out his cousin and called Jasper a “pink tumor”. Honestly, no. Offense is entirely subjective. There is nothing that can be gained by saying that something is objectively offensive. He's overused and cliche, like all of Family Guy's characters, or should I say caricatures? In any case, I don't understand why people get so butthurt over whether or not a character in a story, especially fiction, doesn't represent their beliefs or ideals of what is good and what is wrong. Darth Vader's a horrifically evil person, and yet people flock to him. The question shouldn't ever be if a character is offensive. It should be:
A. Is the character entertaining
B. Should people in society be looking up to that character.
As a gay man, I would say Jasper himself isn’t offensive, but his relationship kinda is. Like you said, it’s portrayed purely as sexual and, while the wedding scene probably isn’t canon, it still implies the relationship could be predatory to a degree. Those two things combined are not great when portraying a gay relationship, especially in a show where at that point, the only other recurring gay men is Herbert of all people.
I will say though, I think his relationship with Brian is actually great representation. With Ida, her and her queerness often feels like a burden on Quagmire. It’s often something he’s embarrassed about or something he needs to “deal with.” Brian on the other hand is never embarrassed or grossed out by Jasper’s queerness, even when he’s making sexual references. He even offers the backyard to Jasper for the wedding. And as soon as people are denying Jasper his right to marry, Brian goes immediately up to bat for him. That is such a great depiction of a family bond between a gay person and their straight relative.
Is Jasper a very stereotypical character? Yeah, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing since there are gay people who act like that and everyone in family guy is extreme. Overall he’s not awful, but I would like some more screen time for him and his relationship since I actually do like Jasper quite a bit.
The only greek food at least with the word greek in name... is greek yogurt? Nothingl else comes to mind,, it feels...a bit more dry is how I would describe it... all the greek food I can think of... chicken.
As a gay man, I just liked seeing jasper as a a character and I wish they used him as more. Most side characters are random stereotypes or there just for a joke. I found jasper pretty funny as a satire of flamboyant gays that I actually know.
What makes me mad is when a group is portrayed as every stereotype in the book and said group goes on a rant on various social media, only to be revealed they are living stereotypes themselves.😠😠😠😠😠😠
Na i think hes a little funny even if the gag gets old after a while he needs more gags other then just "gay guy"

Youre welcome
Jasper seems to be a "Full circle" character
At the time he was most certainly a stereotype and could be negatively received because it was "One" stereotype in a broad group of people, and was basically the ONLY stereotype gays had at the time.
But now that people have a lot more different representation and expression, people are seemingly more welcome to the stereotype because it's not the only thing on TV these days, and it's rather "Positive" for the most part (He's not grotesque or contentious for the show's standards which has MUCH worse characterizations)
I think Jasper's biggest weakness is simply that he's a Family Guy character, so he doesn't actually get any development and the jokes go on too long.
You mean accurate?
I miss Jasper.
