Pretty much, I mean recently I rewatched an episode of TFP where Megatron complained to Starscream about needing more dark energon.

Sugar withdrawal or any withdrawal can do that to any mind and body. So it does not help that dark energon tastes sweet. I guess Unicron made dark energon taste sweet in purpose to lure Primus's children to consume it and become addicted and later on get easily possessed. Just like what happen to Megs.
Über Kirbeeh that’s an interesting theory! I wonder if sweet tastes on Cybertron have a stigma, because bots would compare it to what dark Energon tastes like, that’s of course, if other things on Cybertron taste sweet or if it’s only dark energon
lilie heaney Personally, I like to think that they didn’t have different flavored energons, because dark energon flavor was completely new to them. If they did have different flavors, they could have in theory be able to process Primus’s energon that tasted like Dark Energon and prevent becoming too addicted to it. Then the only reason to become addicted to it would be the power they gain from it.
Shockwave was not created with that weird cyclops head, he was actually lobotomized as punishment, which involved removing his normal cybertronian head, and replacing it with the one he has now, this also lead to his cold personality

i dont recommend you use stuff from a different continuity to explain stuff in prime's continuity, in this case from the IDW comics, but without any other explanations i guess it works for this scenario

They don't freeze on space because there's no atmosphere to transmit the heat away from them. On the artic there's an atmosphere that steals them from heat. This means that on space they'd suffer the opposite issue and they'd over heat
That is not quite true. There is a method of heat transfer that does not depend on contact between the heat source and object being heated (the heat source in this case being the Autobots, and the object being heated, if only minimally, being the Earth).
That method is radiation. It is an electromagnetic wave (light), and it is how heat from the sun reaches the Earth through the vacuum of space, and how night vision goggles can pick up heat sources in the dark when there is no radiation (or, light) from the sun.
@starblocktheflyer7854 the problem is that radiation is a much slower method of cooling, which is why the international space station needs those giant radiators. An active bot would take a long time to cool
Think Megatron's "breathing" is due to the surgery from tank to flyer. He would've had differnet proportions to his body and weight to it so the shift could be the subconcious need to have the original look but unable to achieve it. Like phantom limbs of sorts.
Or simpler form: he had dark energon . Which is what the show said idk which character tho probably ratchet .
... um... you DO realize that fall of cybertron already explained why he is a jet, right? It's not because of surgery at all, it's because he was simply rebuilt with a new body.
And yes, I believe FOC megs is actually a jet in-universe like in TFP (otherwise, his take would NOT have resemblance to the TFP show jet at all) but was changed to a tank during gameplay instead due to them wanting to make megatron's body taller In multiplayer, since the jet class is only SLIGHTLY taller than the car class and seeing megatron smaller than optimus would be ridiculous. So really, (in MY opinion anyway.) the ONLY reason he is a tank in-game instead of a jet is because of wanting his body to be tall in multiplayer, sorta like how female transformers aren't in multiplayer at all. Otherwise, he's canonically a jet in FOC, since why does his tank design look like his TFP jet design if it's not canonically a jet?
Sort of like the phenomenon of rigor morphis shown in MTMTE Issue 1: the body returns to a preferred form.

With the radiation question, radiation breaks all materials down, not just organic materials. It destroys everything. So, it probably would be a good form of torture.

Q: Why couldn't Bumblebee feel his T-cog missing. A human would defenetly feel if their lung, or small intestant is missing
Bee might have felt general "soreness" since he was electrocuted and fell down. Humans feel abdominal pain for a huge variety of reasons like gas, constipation, internal bleeding, and indigestion.
It's also known that severe trauma can have significantly delayed pain reactions. For example I've seen soldiers describe being hit by a 7.62 bullet as feeling like getting punched until the adrenaline wears off and they realise that they're in much deeper shit than they thought.

For me the real question is, we saw that the tea card pretty much filled up the entire abdomen space of bumblebee, right? First off, I want to know how he still able to move properly and how there’s still space for that T cog in his body when he transforms. Now, the biggest issue: if the DeKock that was shown in the show could just barely fit in his torso technically speaking and he shouldn’t really be able to move much because of how stiffer it would fit inside of him, how about starscream? It seems implied that his is the same size, yet he has a much smaller waist

Since Dark Energon apparently tastes sweet yet is still poisonous to any normal bot, does that mean that Megatron effectively got superpowers from shoving a shard of what might as well be antifreeze into his chest?
If you watch the show, the Dark Substance grants a Symbiotic relationship ability that grants megatron control of Specific Terrorcons as well as sense them and link with Unicron. I would say it slightly enhances his abilities....not too much but it does give properties like accelerated healing since it brought him back from the brink of death. Twice.

As Transformers Prime is one of my favorite shows i refuse to believe it is of the same universe as *Robots In Disguise*
You sound like a very reasonable person. Not to mention, robots in disguise is about as uncomfortably cheesy as the rest of children’s shows these days, as well as resembling children’s shows from the 80s. Just extremely cheesy and doesn’t have the same character building as the transformers prime. Transformers prime is more or less “an adult TV show you can show your kids “rather than “a show for everyone “
I mean, with the amount Megatron's been battered and thrown around there's definitely got to be some framework damage somewhere. The idea of a big figure like him having a version of restless leg syndrome is kinda endearing in a way. It'd also make a lot of sense that he's always ready for action, given his history.
"Breathing" may also be due to a need of air for their internal energon processing, or possibly as a means of expelling waste produce from said process.
In regards to Predaking. Many amphibians, such as frogs and alligators, can "power down" their bodies to conserve energy. Wood Frogs do it in winter, while Gators and Bullfrogs do it to escape dry seasons. You'll notice he only comes back online when the sun rises, so it's quite likely his body entered a state of suspended animation until various senses/sensors picked up a rise in temperature that would allow him to defrost properly without immediately freezing again.
I kind of figured all that especially the eye stuff for Megatron had to do with his obviously very disturbed mental health state. When people have such poor mental health, their eyes do that kind of stuff.
Plot twist: the "sexual" video is like 1 minute long with Emperor just saying "no, they are procreate like cabbage patches in the ground (aka hotspots) and have no need for the sexual bits"
They come from the holy hole in the ground, but unfortunately people need a lot of explaining because they want their truth so badly. I see people telling me, "Well, it is never explicitly said anywhere that they DON'T have sex, and until they say that, I think they can!" I have people get mad at me and call me dense when I say that femmes and mechs aren't a thing, that sexes don't exist (and they adapt gender to the certain aliens they interact with).
Despite all lore and logic against it, people try to force their beliefs *coughs* fetishes into the canon.

In the scene where Soundwave is playing the Unicron heartbeat in the episode One Shall Rise part 1, you can faintly see his eyes behind the visor, so he definitely has them. And when he speaks in the episode Minus One, he seems to be moving his head like the other bots do when moving their mouths, something he does not do when simply playing back a recording, so him having a mouth is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. I'd love to see the character model for him and see how much the animators actually put back there.

21:02 This was actually a subject of debate when I was in Year 10 Science. Being unable to feel pain is something that actually occurs in humans as a result of mutation. Most people would think it a gift but pain has a very important role in human survival. Pain tells you when your body is being damaged. You avoid painful things because they would damage your ability to acquire resources, escape predators or find shelter.
The people who have mutations in their DNA and don't feel pain as a result often don't live to the age of 20 or very much past that point. They inflict so much damage to their body that they prematurely die. If you broke your leg in a world football championship, you'd want to keep playing, right? But the pain you feel stops you from doing that. If you didn't feel pain, you would damage that leg so badly by splintering and tearing your muscles that you would never be able to walk again. What if you put your hand on a lit stove? You would just stand there until the flames consumed a significant portion of your body. Pain is necessary, unfortunately.

About the space question: space is a lot colder than the Arctic. But since space doesn't have anything to conduct the hear(air, snow, etc) so if you were in space, you would probably feel nothing, as there isn't anything there.
When starscream fires a missile at the first terrorcon it's not on his arm but when he trasformers his arm into his gun the missile comes out of his arm
I double-checked this scene, but it did not com out of his arm. It manifested into existence lol

I suspect that the visor is transparent but Soundwave's optics aren't visible. Sort of how sunglasses hide someone's eyes but they don't have too much trouble seeing out.

Going off the mental health category.. During the starscream ark in RID was it just me or did starscream seem a bit.. depressed. in a way? He seemed to speak much quieter when bumblebee mocked him, and was rambling about how Megatron has hurt him and ridiculed him. Do you think it finally got to him after knockout had changed sides?

You also have to take into consideration that he was probably alone for THREE WHOLE YEARS before getting in contact with those bounty hunters to track down the Weaponizer Mini-Cons.
He had a ship but no army under his command, despite the ship's rather large size, comparable to the Nemesis.
Pretty much all the Decepticons either died, went to prison, switched sides or went rogue, while Starscream was left alone, finally leader of the Decepticons, but with no one to command!
Starscream's a social creature, even if he's bad with social cues. He wants to be friends but doesn't know how to. Shockwave can handle solitude, but Starscream can't. After all, he returned to Megatron in what seems like desperation, not just because of his physical situation, but also because of his solitude.
Starscream doesn't like solitude or isolation. Just look at him working in Trypticon Station, whether it be the video games or the books. Desperate to get back into action, so he agrees to join Megatron (though is notably forced to join but doesn't decline like Jetfire did).
No wonder he gets depressed and gets so hurt by Bumblebee's words when he mocks him.
No one cares to think about what Starscream's been through all these years ;-;

For anyone wondering how he’s able to see, I feel like this question can be easily answered with this: modern technology today has began to develop the ability to hide cameras behind display screens, at least I’ve heard that the newest smart phones are going to have that feature, as they are developing it. Currently I think some phones have it and most don’t but I might eventually be all smart phones.
@@otakumangastudios3617 there's an even easier answer. When Soundwave went on a mission to recover the resonance blaster from wheeljack, he came for lazerbeak. The screen alters to his point of view and a circular Cybertronean Reticle is displayed looking around and scanning things similar to a humans eye looking at point of interest spots. He's also seen doing this while captive by the autobots and Optimus attempting to interrogate him. This is also displayed from MANY episodes like airachnid, Skyquake and so on

Maybe Cybertronians armor is protected from space coldness? They did live on Cybertron and traveled through space.
Cold on Earth might be different.
The moisture of Earth probably affects them in the cold while Space doesn't exactly have moisture to get into their nooks and crannies.
Even if space is really cold, their worst enemy in the vacuum of space is heat. Because heat is really really hard to get rid of in space.
@@nil981 Space isn't "cold" in the way we're used to though because hard vacuum is the best insulator there is. The problem in space is getting rid of heat not keeping it in. When they say space is "cold" they mean lack of heat energy, but that's not the same thing as cold places on earth where you have sub zero air absorbing the heat out of you. There nothing there to absorb heat, so the only way things can cool off is to radiate it away as infrared. Spacecraft need big radiators just to keep from over heating from their own self generated heat even if they are on the dark side of the earth, and it just gets even worse when they are in direct sunlight. Somthing like a giant robot is absolutely not going to have any problems staying warm in space and in fact the real problem will be not overheating.

By the way in TFP you can sometimes see sound waves eyes for like a couple frames behind the visor. I also think that if TFP continued we wouldve gotten a face reveal at some point because of that scene was megatron is talking about repairing his visor.
You can see them after Wheeljack knocks Soundwave on the ground. For a few frames he will be looking upward while the camera is at an angle and you can see what appears to be purple optics under his visor due to the fact that the sunlight is passing through said visor at an angle.

I just assumed that older cybertronians suffered mental fatigue. The whole "you're only as old as you think" concept.
I like that they can more or less be autistic. As someone on the spectrum, it always feels nice to associate with characters.

The "What mode do the sleep in" thing is kinda along the lines of Rigor-Morphis from IDW, where the body assumes the preferred shape upon death. And yeah, sometimes it's the alt-mode.
Arcee feeling cramped in bike mode kinda makes sense considering how much cheating she does to change size. Her bike is tiny compared to robot.
Aren't Cybertronian bodies like living metal? Maybe that would explain their high pain tolerance like Starscream losing his arm but then not showing signs of pain for long and then having an arm rebuilt for him.
Well that and he was also high off of dark energon at the time.
He was injected by dark energon so it barely made pain to him since he was dosed off of it.

Sound wave actuary does have a face this is confirmed. In the IDW comics when they went deeper into who he was before the war and if you pay. Really good attention to him in TFP you can see his red optics under his funded visor. He has an actual face in most continuities apart from maybe Animated
And they actually do feel warm as shown in the IDW comics when Rodimus and his crew found a planet full of warm sparks melded into the ground

We do see them burning some kind of exhaust, but it would be different than our cars’

In this form of context, it's a no brainer that they mean saving his ass. But when it comes to them exhausting or shitting. No. It was never shown or really explained much. In vehicle mode it seems like most vehicles exhaust some form of fuel reminiscent to actual vehicles like gasoline from cars and afterburner from jets but this is mostly an Asthetic thing. Since they haven't really explained or shown what it's like for a cybertronean to Starve or whatever we just don't know. They use energon for everything but it's not explored about by product.
@@n.c.pictures it's called Tox-N. A very Decay like form of Toxic Energon that would make any cybertronean faulter, almost nauseous and dizzy....ultimately death. They make these shows seem too lifelike to relate to us on how they affect them so we can feel it.....so in this case, it's like a solid ammonia dry ice block that exposed too much of, could potentially kill you.
Megatron being fucked beyond belief and he’s still the second strongest Transfotmer in the aligned continuity is terrifying.
Interesting idea that their voice boxes are more like speakers than vocal chords, but speakers still need air to transmit sound. Sound after all is just the movement of air particles at certain frequencies, so I"m not actually sure how cybertronians can emit sound in space. Maybe it's not actually sound but some kind of radio frequency they're mentally talking through?
Also, we need to put something else in the consideration: *it’s a TV show*

This is a VERY good question....but I wouldn't call them Alpha....maybe more like.....sentient in their own caste system, but this is something I wished they explored heavily since Airachnid developed an ability to hive mind control the insecticons
With Megatron movements up and down with resting I think you're right, it could be due to his T-cog. He was originally had a ground based transformation before he was upgraded.
i personally always saw Soundwave as the cybertronian equivalent of a cyborg, tbh. i think it might be because of the ability to store information in his brain.

I tried to rationalize it like, ya know how car pistons move, well, they need something to circulate energon through their body so I figured that the breathing could be like pistons or a pump of some kind doing that.
The Pain Receptors being on and off might be involuntary but controllable through technology, but could cause additional side-effects, such as the body not managing the energon distribution when hurt or situations like seeing stuff emotions ect effectively, that is also why Breakdown looked honestly like he was blank, just kinda nothing but acknowledging his situation, its a weak explanation i know, it does help understand that thing though.
That shockwave mouth fanart may not be too far off...I think I recall the vehicons that had been infected towards the end of the series had their face split open to let the tentacles out. I'd wager that wasn't entirely the infection at work. They transform, so their face probably can as well or at least the mouthless ones do so. It'd be the "natural" way, since as you said, they wouldn't have been forged with an inability to replenish energy.

One thing I would LOVE to see explored is Cybertronian ecology, because just as metamorphosis allows many insects to take advantage of two niches at the same time, I can't help but think about how ecologically OP being able to transform would be. It's p much like they preform metamorphosis back and forth at will!
In one comic, it’s explained that Cybertronians “regrow” missiles similar to how humans regrow hair and nails. And as for disabling Breakdown’s pain receptors, anesthesia. I’m sure they took time to figure it out, otherwise why do it?

21:00 I always assumed that they used a form of Anestesia. Not necessarily turning the pain off but numbing it maybe? Silas may have just used the wrong choice of words or said that to sound more intimidating.
I think the flexible face thing is more of a style. If you were to see them in real life you would see cycling gears and moving parts on their faces and necks.
Question: do transformers grow "facial hair" or are they born with it for example Alpha trion
Characters we already see have things that resemble hair, like Knockout's sideburns and Starscream's chin. I would say all facial hair is decorative metal they are born with, even the glorious beard of Alpha Trion

@@alumlovescake I always kinda had a theory that a Cybertronians CNA would synthesise metal plating under their main plating as they grew up allowing them to grow in a sense. It stands to reason that the same could happen to create a beard like plate on his face.

I agree with all of this lol. And I believe that if Cybertronians do get intimate it's not like most humans do it, ace in nature. I would like to see a video on that, this fandom could use a poke in a different direction than it's been lately. ;)

I can relate to Starscream in a way. Is not easy for me to get some social cues, and i struggle when i have to work in teams, beacuse i can't get along with others very well, even if i try my best. Is hard for me to keep and make friends and not because im mean to them, but i gain dislike and disdain from people, or they plain dont respect me, neither i now what i can do to gain their respect. In TFP i was extremely simpathetic with Starscream and i utterly feel my guts twist when i see him being disrepected and insulted by others because it feels really familiar :")

He might’ve not been a good person, but he hardly deserves what Megatron does too him on a regular basis, and yet he’s supposed to be unlikable to the audience when he tries to betray Megatron! Anyone would after what he’s been through! Not too mention that he’s a better leader than Megatron is, during the time where Megatron was lost in space, the Autobots were starving and the Decepticons had loads of energon! If they played the long game they would’ve won the war! But Megatron came back and ruined everything
How come the writers of TFP didn’t add more fan favorite characters from the TF Universe into the show? And why did they end the series so soon and not continue it for a few more seasons?

as for soundwaves face, i always thought it was similar to what iron man has. when we see a POV shot or a shot of IM's face, we see a bunch of screens and holo projections for different functions and stats. perhaps Soundwave has the same thing. after all, being no ordinary cybertronian inside or out would proably need more data readouts than just 'feeling ill'

the in-universe explanation as to why the sapient robots of my scifi TRPG setting breathe: Supplementary part of their cooling system. They rely mostly on a liquid coolant, however a bit of air intake is used to assist in moving heat around the body and expelling it (usually via breathing out). In fact they don't normally intake air via breathing in (but they can as a part of their system's function) but instead bring it in through literally any and every seam and gap in their armor plates. They just expel it through their mouths.

I actually believe Eye color can be chosen to some extent. If you remember Megatron origin story, he had blue eyes until he was rejected by the council. I believe many of the Decepticons did the same to show their allegiances.

Little known fact: In ancient times on Cybertron, certain crimes were punished by removal of body parts and replace with inferior replacements. Shockwave was one of those. His original head and one hand was removed and replaced with his single-eyed current version and his blaster-barrel 'hand'. An Autobot to suffer a similar fate was the original version of Whirl, of the Wreckers (not the RBA version), who also had his head replaced with a similar to Shokwave's, and a rotor-blade for a hand.

i believe that the different models for Starscream's arms could be like prosthetics designed in case of a high ranking official loosing their appendages in battle

Do you know if Starscream's "immortal spark" is canon or at least implied in the Aligned continuity? If so, I imagine it to be somehow distinguished from other sparks in appearance and behavior.
Unfortunately it is not implied anywhere in the Aligned Continuity, buuut Starscream has not died here so that is why there is no knowing. I like to write it because ghost Starscream is a cool concept. It is also ironic that the one most scared of death is the one with the least to fear
The way I always saw it as the cybertronians are similar to humans, just with metallic body parts instead of organ ones. A steel eye beam is to their pliable faces what femurs are to our skin. I always assumed that the faces were made out of softer metal.

Weird question tho but when Megatron fed the Nemesis dark energon why did no-one connect the dots and think "hay maybe the warship we chose the that Tripticon guy who transformed into a warship back in the day just like the one we are in right now". Did they not think they climbed into the either dead or comatose body of a kaiju sized cybertronean?
I know they had other warships like the Harbinger or Airachnid's ship but Nemesis was assumed dead in battle so either Nemesis didn't die instantly and limbed away from his final battle only to go offline later or the decepticons chose specifically to climb inside of Tryripticon because it was convenient or something?
Is this connect to Cybertrons race issues and all giant bots are thought of as non-sentient drone like tools or just lesser beings than even the minicons bad rep?

Yeah, but with the alligned continuity you have to pick and choose what it canon, cause many parts of it, the video games especially, go against the canon, so while some of RID may be non canon, other parts of it, like the basic biology may be canon

i remembered there was once a comic that showed how and why shockwave is a cyclopes, long story short, he used to have a normal cybertronin face but committed some underground crime, like really big ones and to cover his entire identity he had his head surgically replaced turning him in to a cyclopes.

It is called empurata, it is sometimes also used with shadow play, the removal of the center of the processor that gives you emotions, now in the IDW comics this is canon, Shockwave is an empurata and shadow play victim, but we do not know if this is true in the alligned continuity, personally I like to believe it is, just because it would make an interesting plot and I wanted to see more corrupt Cybertron, but it is not canon in Transformers prime

On the mental health question, it's stated that an alternate reality version of Beast Wars' Transmutate (a female bot with a design similar to Prime Arcee in this reality) had a "disconnect in her processors" that prevented her from properly recognizing emotions and social cues, and also gave her an unusual interest in her fellow Maximals' interaction with the world and herself. Despite ridicule from other bots and being often dismissed, Transmutate utterly refuted the notion that she was "broken".
In short, this iteration of Transmutate was diagnosed with tye Cybertronian equivalent of autism. As someone with autism myself, I found myself relating very much to this version of the character.

Explanation for the pain receptor thing: It would be great if they turned their pain receptors off themselves but they cant, it has to be surgically turned off. The reason why is because they need pain receptors to detect problems so the cybertronian themselves can locate the problem. Like how humans can be born without the pain genetic.
in my opinion, i think that yes, cybertronians DO have pain receptors that can be turned off and on, but it isnt easy to do so and probably requires someone else (preferably a medic) to do it which explains why they dont just turn it off when being tortured or going into battle.
Since you posted about reviewing RID's Pilot, it would be interesting if you reviewed the episodes 'Portals' and 'Collateral Damage' side by side in a video to see your thoughts on the evolution (or devolution) of Soundwave's writing in RID. While I think both episodes have plotholes in them, one is a lot more enjoyable than the other (to me at least).

For the cybertronian optic color, I believe the color is a reflection of their moral alignment. Cause when Ratchet was explaining how Optimus used to be Orion Pax, Megatron was depicted to once have had blue optics and when his values were forsaken his rage had caused his optics to turn red.

I believe Dreadwing once said that "the Forge of Solus Prime possesses the ability to create anything from raw material."
The Forge can seemingly infuse anything with mechanisms ranging in complexity, only limited by the skill and expertise of the the Prime wielding it. Optimus in his ethereal stage of joining with the Allspark may have sent a surge to his spark as it transcends between dimensions to make it's way to the Allspark in space, this - while taking into account that Optimus' spark is that of The 13th Original Prime - combined with the combined wisdom of the Primes from the Matrix - which would also be very active as it was preparing to be passed down - is likely what gave him the upgrade as a subconscious measure of survival triggered by the option to do this becoming available when Smokscreen placed the saber in his hand.
