Sometimes right isn't equal,. Sometimes equal's not fair. Truth.
My family never owned any farm land but my Grandmother did sell the house in a small town that my Grandfather built. Its very sad to lose something like that. I even helped stain it one summer, the whole family did. My Grandmother made a mistake selling that place, it was the backbone of our entire family, things have never been the same.
The sadness of this song mirrors the sadness of our times. Support your family farmers/ranchers any way you can.
Amen
L
Never give up the farm if you can!! Im telling you, the future they plan isnt a good one, and land is ultimate. Hold it as the people of the past always did, for its only the essentials to LIFE!! Never forget why they want it so bad!!
All of us sons become what our Daddy’s were in one way or another !!!
One of my all time favorite songs. Corb is a vastly underappreciated artist. He manages to not only understand the life of Rural people, but translate it to lyric and song.
The saddest part of all, is doing your best, then the greedy one comes along, and takes everything he/she can. Greed, the ugliest thing on the planet.
Greed shall imprison us all.
First song to make me cry in a long time. Mostly because my grandparents are selling out. I mean I'm 15 and there's nothing i can do about it but it just makes me sad to have to sell
Hey, everything might be changing and it'll all seem outta place... But know they would much rather have you loving them and being there, than any plot of land... Sorry your going through this.
How are you guys doing now?
Im selling sections of mine to save the rest now
Good for you young man. That's true grit.
I was in the exact same place 3 years ago and I still miss the farm so much and I don’t understand why people choose to live in the city
God Bless the Diamond Bar. My family lost her. This hurts. I’m the youngest. Trying to get it back
Best wishes...
Good luck man
Here's to your land. We just lost the love you ranch this year when my grandpa passed away trying to break a mule. In the process of trying to get it back. God bless ranchers wherever you are..
this is one of the very few song to make me cry. this will forever be my favourite song of all time
As a farm family coach I have tools to help farm families find harmony through understanding. Would love to share your music Corb to create new healing stories for ag.
Great song by a brilliant musician. I'm still surprised when I mention this guy to people who've never heard of him.
Can't listen without getting goosebumps
Man watching the world change is sad . Those things we grew up with , had handed down becoming obsolete or untenable because of the “progress” of man. Moving fast just because we can . Sorry bout that , better luck next time seems to be the pulse of the nation. We can do better.
One of the saddest songs I’ve ever listened too.
Maybe, but you obviously have not listened to very many Chris Knight songs. They aren't all sad, but some are just plumb damn DARK.
Sad but true
I can see that a ranch is a 'life' for some people. I respect that. Losing it must be hard.
It is really a good and sad song.
...not a land-ownder myself but God-Bless the families that do....
This is a not just a song.
It's real, when people die, relatives turn into greedy pigs. I know this it happened to me.
This is the best song he ever wrote love you corb
I saw Corb when he came here for a concert. I wasn't a major fan but I knew some of his music and it is some of the better country music around. I forgot about it for a while and just came back to find this. Wow is all I have to say to this, very well done!
family member forced a sale of our 40 sections of high desert Arizona ranch after a death. it's something that can never be again. My grandparents introduced me to the land and I'll never be able to do the same to my grandkids
Corb lund is his own genre, you are a great writer and storyteller sir, in my opinion you have already joined Ian and Gord.
I love this song it reminds me of our ranch/farm
This song always brings me a tear
This song is a perfect example of why it’s smart to have only one child. Siblings suck when family money is involved….
Hits close to home mom. Got screwed the same way broke my heart!
Seriously one of his best. Forever a Corb lover
I love this song 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹😭
This is such a beautiful song.
Going to see Corb Lund live here in Sudbury Ontario. Looking forward to hearing this live. Thanks for making Canada humble and great as usual Corb!
I’ve seen him in st Catherine’s was an awesome show. Won’t be disappointed. Very humble person he is. Got to talk to him a little after the show. Was a small venue. Maybe 150 in the crowd. Sat third row center. Would love to see him again. American aquarium opened for him. They are another outstanding band
I love your words, Sir
Love this song, thanks
Good song
Well I was born in this valley
On this ranch I was raised
I learned to lope, rope and dally
On the S Lazy H
Well the roots of my people
They run deep on this place
I am sixth generation
On the S Lazy H
And when it came to the future
I never gave it a thought
If there were broncs to be broken
Endless steers to be caught
Well my youth it was carefree
For the work was my play
And what I loved would always be there
On the S Lazy H
I had one beloved sister
A few years younger than me
Before a sole cowboy had kissed her
She left for school in the east
Me I might have gone to college
Might have liked to fly planes
But my dad needed help to
Run the S Lazy H
So I worked there 'long side him
Put adult years in this place
And I gained appreciation
For the lines on his face
And when mom had grown older
And when dad passed away
It fell to me to look after
The S Lazy H
By now my sister she had married
A sharp attorney back east
We didn't see eye to eye but
I did my best to make peace
What did they see when they looked over
Over the fence one fine day
They saw a whole lot a value
In the S Lazy H
So after thought and assessment
The court awarded them half
And no cow / calf operation
Carries that kind of cash
Well I worked through the numbers
Worked them every which way
Yeah I went through the numbers
Oh and boys I'm afraid
I had to sell twenty sections
Of the S Lazy H
Sometimes right isn't equal
Sometimes equal's not fair
There will soon be rows of houses
On that ridge over there
Many lifetimes of labour
Will be all but erased
So shed a tear and look skyward
God help the S lazy H
The last few years were a struggle
But I gave it my best
And I tried to go forward
On the land that was left
Well I have lived with the sorrow
And I will die with the shame
For now the bank owns what's left of
The S Lazy H
Me Too, Bro!😢
There's 8 people that don't know a good song.
It's a great real song, money is the root of all evil!
They must be lawyers....
gosh dang tear jerker hits a bit too close to home friend
Know the struggle
I'll tell ya one good goddamn thing I will never allow any amount of money to devide my family. That's the final fuckin word on that.
Ps smalls are sic too.
😢😢😭
My family's ranch is the Lazy S H
Where?
Are you in Ontario? I saw a place with S Lazy H on a sign up on the barn.
Northern New Mexico, USA.
@@waderoberts2490 Nice spot. Can I ask you 2 things? How much does a ranchhand get paid and how much is land ?
Egg So we are completely family, so idk what an average ranchhand gets paid. Land really differs with how good the range is, any access to water, any pens, buildings etc. If you find land for $1,000, that’s probably a good deal, but watch out for places that aren’t grazable.
Yes sir. It hits a bit too hard
mmm❤️❤️😘:)
You can say this is country music but if you know then you know…. this is punk rock! Ya just got to listen. Punk to me is hardcore in your face truth about real life! And YES I KNOW he has a punk background. That’s my point! He changes genres and it’s still as nerve touching as ever!
If you don’t own land, you ain’t no kind of man. Make you mark young man get land before you marry.
Unfortunately us young folk are stuck living paycheck to paycheck and struggle to even pay for apartments. Land is far out of reach for most of us
That's my plan. To get some land.
You boomers are traitors and sold us out
