Ben, have you looked into Pain Reprocessing Therapy? Alan Gordon and others. It’s a very promising approach for chronic pain, tinnitus and other symptoms. I think that can be the missing piece to the great work you do. Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a system of psychological techniques that retrains the brain to interpret and respond to signals from the body properly.
Thank you for this hope. Since taking the C19 vaccine, my wife’s tinnitus has been non-stop. She was told by 2 separate ENT specialists that she will need to get used to it. I don’t think they realize how devastating that diagnosis is.
My doctor insisted that medication did not cause my tinnitus. It started ovenight with the introduction of a particular medication which is now medically recognised as causing tinnitus. It’s bad enough to have it, but deny the cause was insulting. Yes, we do have to learn to embrace it and it can be done, but if there’s a cure, what side effects might it have?
This month is my one year mark since the tinnitus started. Dr. Ben helped me immensely. I've gone from a 7 out of 10 to a one or less. A few months ago I started to get a day or two in a row where it would be almost completely silent. In the last month I've been getting a week at a time where it's very very low and I might get a day or so where it pops back up to a one or a two out of 10. Now I'm going to talk about something controversial. It has been proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that microdosing psilocybin facilitates neuroplasticity. It's also been proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that it can reduce anxiety and therefore tinnitus distress which is going to further facilitate the neuroplasticity. Every time I bring this up to a professional I get radio silence, or they respond by saying well. I'm happy it's worked for you but we don't need it. This is stigma getting in the way of helping people and I think it's appalling.
What did your tinnitus come from my friend? How exactly were you helped by Dr. Ben? I'm thinking of contacting him too.. I've had tinnitus for 1+ years and it's probably from auditory trauma and loud music (I'm a musician). Thanks!
@@chrisk6488 It doesn't matter where it came from unless your doctor is trying to pinpoint something to treat it. For you to start thinking about where it came from doesn't actually help you get rid of it. It keeps your attention on it which is counterproductive. Everybody's different. It could come from hearing loss, anxiety, pharmaceuticals, cranial nerve, tmj. A combination of any or all of the above. I'm pretty sure mine has a lot to do with ETD. I use sound therapy. A 10-hour loop on UA-cam of crickets at the beach at night. I used to use it during the day as well but when things started to get quieter I only use it at night now. Also have to school your mind and not caring or submitting to any kind of anxiety or distress if you want your brain to start filtering it out. This is the neuroplasticity they're talking about. As long as you're worrying about it or monitoring it, your brain thinks it's important and keeps it front and center. The trick is to not care. The rest is time. Lots of time and patience.
The time I am MOST AWARE of my tinnitus is when I wake up, usually 4 Xs a night to pee, upon waking, I hear a Loud high-pitched siren/shrill while urinating, but..I go back to sleep being exhausted. I know its there, ALWAYS, but have learned to live w it for Decades..the '70s. Working & being distracted, helps me Not be so aware its there. I wish you would have a seminar/clinic, in Palm Bch County, Fl.
Thanks again Dr. Ben for another comprehensive explanation of tinnitus and available treatments for the tinnitus community. I’ve been struggling with Hyperacusis & tinnitus for over two years. I’ve been fortunate to receive help from Treble Health…and thanks to videos like this from Julian Cowan Hill, Glenn Schweitzer, and Dr. Peter Vernezze I am gradually improving.
Here’s Dr Bashir khan from Pakistan. When I was studying in Medical College I suffered from depression with tennis. I started my treatment with antidepressants who had tenitis in their side effects. I m still fighting with tenitis. Now I m under the treatment of ENT doctor but no relief. My life is miserable. I need some special treatment. Age. 68yrs Bilateral Stoped antidepressants Medicines taking 1 Betahistamin 2. Vitamin B12
I’ve had tinnitus for years (hearing loss) which really didn’t bother me. Last Xmas had a health scare and stress was super elevated. Since then my tinnitus became very bothersome Health results came back negative, but tinnitus stayed high. Had to retire from the Fd and having a hard time now with T and depression. Really sucks and I don’t really have happiness any more.
Been there. Anxiety went off the charts about the time the tinnitus inreased. I went to an audiologist who set me up with hearing aids that play the high end sounds that I’m lacking and I can play relaxing sounds as well. I find myself listening to the wind chimes and ocean waves rather than the tinnitus. I find I’m having the occasional good mental health days now.
I’ve had constant tinnitus in the right ear for almost 6 months now, ear pain and ear pressure. ENT says everything is fine and finally got him to order and MRI, if everything comes back normal they have me signed up for there tinnitus treatments…. How do we know if our local treatments are worth it?
It’s great that you’re being proactive with an MRI to rule out underlying issues. To evaluate if local tinnitus treatments are worth it, consider whether they offer a personalized approach, like sound therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or tinnitus retraining therapy (TRT). Research the provider’s experience and reviews, and don’t hesitate to ask questions about the methods they use. We'd be happy to guide you, if needed.
Why are there not more doctors like this!! So many tell you to get used to it the other ones want your money to treat it but besides a hearing piece you can treat it yourself. Mine has gotten better even went away for a week after a cold. I will keep trying. Anyone out there have success with the Leniere machine?
Have tinnitus almost 15 years. Using hearing aides with white snow noise that help. White snow sound playing when i sleep that helps. Had vestibular therapy this past summer that helped with peripheral vision deficient that helped. Had c-5 through c-7 fusion for severe stenosis 3 weeks ago. The tinnitus in my right ear left for 2 days after surgery then returned very loud then my blood pressure went up went into a fib for 2 days. Had terrible gastric problem for 2 days. Still loud Tinnitus while body recovery from successful neck surgery. The tinnitus always gets max loud before i get sick or during healing process. I have came to realize that the only time tinnitus will be gone is when i am dead or not coherent. No medical staff has ordered a mri for when i get vertigo the epley maneuver fixes the vertigo and nausea but no relief of tinnitus. Cognitive therapy maybe my next route for treatment had it offered from the ent this past summer. Only improvement is the sound therapy with the hearing aides that help me understand voices and music more clear. I never go below a 5 out of 10 with tinnitus but goes up to 9+ before i get sick or during recovery .
Can spine surgeries cause tinnitus? I have neuopathy in my spine.I have had ten surgeries due to discs problems,& scoliosis. My whole spine is rodded, screws, plates.I can feel my back,it feels like its shaking,& tingling in my legs, buttock,& arms.It feels like my body is sleeping.Like when your hand, arm etc goes to sleep.Sometimes I can feel my head shake.Your right my back surgeon, ear dr.Oh there is no cure.I do wear hearing aids but they don't help much.Thank you for any feed back.I see a psychiatric & I had a therapist for anxiety & depression. But I had this before the tinnunis started. Its only in my left ear,but if it get roaring or my anxiety gets high it will effect my right ear.
I feel like you have two steps forward then three back. It's exhausting. You try not to have any negative thoughts knowing it can contribute. If it comes on suddenly due to a stressful period which i believe is the cause of mine i cant understand why my brain doesn't tune out now i feel im out of that stressful period.
If tinnitus is stress-related, managing stress-whether through medication, therapy, or relaxation techniques-can sometimes reduce its impact or even help it go away. However, results vary from person to person. Schedule a complimentary telehealth consultation: treble.health/consultation
Not necessarily. It seems one must train themselves to ignore the tinnitus. But removing the stress or treating the stress is likely a prerequisite. I wish you good luck.
"Modified TRT" refers to a customized version of Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) that tailors the standard TRT protocol to each individual patient's specific needs

Classic response from uncaring uninvolved ENT Doctors.
This video is fantastic because it involves 2 Doctors who actually care about the topic and seemingly their patients. God Bless them both.

I was just talking to a client today and agree... i bet microdosing psilocybin could cure tinnitus
@staceyweinstein5246 I don't know about cure. Improve the efficacy of any neuroplasticity in a reduction is more likely.

Need less Telehealth and more one on one in person.
Whoever cures it will be a gajillionairee and hero to all. My guess is it will be a brain implant of some type.

IF you attend a Church etc, are they praying for you? I am not saying it's going to help you immediatley but prayer over time does help.
