I have only 4 WIPs, but at one time, back when I had a yarn shop, I had 65! Having so many WIPs was a strain on me that I didn’t even realize. I feel so much better with only 4 (2 blankets, a pair of socks, and a shawl). It’s wonderful that you do a check on your WIPs once a year!
I have the same amount at the moment, probably more… how did you pare down, did you frog a lot or just work through all of them? The urge to cast on is always so strong so I’m struggling to get the number down. 🫣
I got my count a bit down in comparison with last year, but still a long way to go. We all want to know how you did it.
Re: how I got rid of my 65 WIPs: I actively started trying to pare down my WIPs about three years ago. I finished some, as they were nearly done or they were small projects. I frogged a lot, mostly things that were store samples. The last two were beaded shawls that I was afraid to frog, but after I started, they were easier than I thought. Then I worked steadily at finishing the rest, working on them a little bit each week one WIP at a time. It’s very freeing to have those projects not hanging over my head. I think of that when I want to cast on something … if I still want to cast it on in a week’s time I will. But usually I wait til I am done with one of my active WIPs.
Oh you are here ! What a lovely surprise - Thank you for the special video.
Lots of good WIPs in your pile of projects- I can see why you have more in the “still want to make it pile” then the 🐸 it!
Dearest Jana, keeping it real. I love it.
I do hope you will finish the beautiful blanket of sorrows. Perhaps we might call it a blanket of comforts or heros for all who are fighting in so many different ways for peace and freedom. 🇺🇦🌻
And, your dog mitts. ♥♥
I will definitely finish both of those special projects! ♥
Thank you so much for sharing yourself and your creativity with us.
Last year's wip video introduced me to the kappa, and with your help I now have knitted one in cashmere that I use almost daily in winter. I love it so much! I hope you will enjoy yours just as much.
Love this video as well, wip collections are interesting and entertaining. I get overwhelmed if I have more than a handfull projects going at the same time. I want exactly one wip per category/'need' like complex&challenging, easy&portable, comfort knit, blanket.
See you in the next video :-) Marijke
Thank you! For the most fun, beautiful chat! Amazing you, hug!
Jana, your WIPS and UFOs are beautiful! I love your style and color palette! Mostly, I really appreciate who you are as a beautiful and warm human! 🐑♥️🐑♥️🐑
Maybe you can bind off your mosaic hat and make it a headband/ earwarmer?
Sooooo good to see you Jana and all you WIP’s and UFO’s. You always bring a smile 😊 ❤
Hahaha...you just accidentally start knitting on the sweater! Lol cracks me up!!!
It is such a relief to know of other knitters with so many WIPS! Thank you thank you! I’m new to your channel and really enjoying your videos! Hello from the coast of Maine in the US, where we are about to get more snow.
I love the subtle stripes so much- please don’t frog that one!!
Frog the mosaic hat, yes!
Girl!!! 27???!!! It was like watching clowns pile out of a Volkswagen! Thanks for an enjoyable treat (but I could never!). ❤️❤️❤️
Perfect description! So cute.
🚗 🤡 🚗
Hi Jana, enjoyed seeing your WIPs and all the lovely bags they are in. Also love your knit blankets. Regarding baktus vs Sophie’s shawl - I too have knitted many baktus, plain and lacy and a couple of Sophie shawls. They are not the same shape - the shawl is longer. The nice thing about the Sophie shawl is the pretty edging. I think you would enjoy knitting one😄.
Thank you! I have knit a few that look exactly the same as Sophie shawl, as I was playing around with the increases. 😄 And with the nice edge as well. ❤️
Oh I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for these wonderful episodes. I look forward to them. Sending you all my love.
Your “Garden” sweater is so gorgeous!!!!! 🌸🌼🌻
Wow! Happy knitting through the year! Hope you have less WIPS next year. Always love seeing you and your enthusiasm for knitting.
One WIP at a time. You can do it!
Thank you for the WIP update! Always lovely to see you and spend a bit of time with you! 🎉
You probably know that you are an enabler 😂 I have as many wips- no blankets- and some you have mentioned
I love seeing your work. It inspires me to use unusual yarns and try new techniques.
That's wonderful! 👍❤️
Yes Baktus! Bought the tshirt! I feel the same about sofie shawl! Frog the pink A Mowry pink and if you add mohair do it or not… I love that you have as many Wips as I do! I frogged 2 sweaters so far this year. Now I have the lovely yarn. I am inspired to count!🙁😉🤣😵💫
Thank you for sharing your wips. When you finish the ones you like you will be so happy. And you knit pretty fast so all your projects to be finished will be done before you know it. I'm trying to finish a sweater for my son before spring gets here. Enjoyed your volgcast, Keep 'em comin!!!! Have a great week!!! -Carrie ❤
Very entertaining can’t wait to see the floral sweater finished it’s just lovely
OK. I do this when I have a lot of UFO’s whether it’s quilting or knitting. I plan in advance and pick one month, let’s say May. And for that entire month is just dedicated to finishing up projects. For some reason it works for me and I’m focused getting a lot finished in that one month. Please finish and show us all your beautiful knitting.
I went through a WIP inventory and frogged some things too, recently. It is so nice to do once in a while, even if they do end up going back in the bag into hibernation. 😎 It is always lovely spending time with you here !!
Love how you remember names of projects, designers, yarn and love all your bags. My project lives in a soup pot and is handspun alpaca 2 ply for Bordeaux nights, my stash is in a gallon zip lock bag. I would so fail as podcaster!! You sure were very caffeinated at the start!
Lovely to see the Battenberg blanket again. Knew you didn’t frog it. No, you couldn’t !😊As for the Rai rai jumper, I would suggest you knit wider stripes to make them more visible. Seeing your Wips is like seeing old friends, it’s memories for us too, coming for all the episodes we watch with so much great attention ! Because the knitters community has always a lot to share, and you’re such a great example of it !
I agree...either frog it or make wider stripes. It's just not showing the beautiful yarns well as it is now.
Jana, you make my day! I just love watching your podcast, you are always so cheerful. Happy UFO Knitting 😚
Thank you Janna - always a treat!
Hi Jana!!! I’m sooo excited to watch this one today…. Let me just gather up a coffee and my knitting and make my day just that much better by smiling and laughing with you! 😃👏🏼🥰👏🏼🧶
🥰
Your lovely extra video made me smile and laugh out loud.
Thank you 😘
Please finish the garden sweater. It’s beautiful!!!🧶
You're comfort blanked is lovely and while the reason you needed it is a sad one the friendship that brought you the wool as well as the comfort you got from knitting it are very much true and pure so I hope that you can enjoy and feel those when working and using you're blanked. Tanke care.
That is so true! I will try to work on it. ❤️
I am always smiling during your vlog 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for viewing your WIPs. I have 6 WIPs and it is a good number for me. I get stressed with too many WIPs.
I like your RaiRai sweater. The stripes are subtle. It's just different than what you usually knit. You usually use pinks and bright clear colors.
That sweater is beautiful. I see the stripes. Yes the colors are subtle and it makes the sweater elegant. Keep to the pattern and you'll have a magnificent wooly. I love your podcast so keep up the style you have started. Ms. Hurt
I see the stripes too, just keep on knitting ✌️ And I love that sweater ♥️ And you, and your podcast, but I have already said that ☺️
Thank you! I'll keep going! ♥️
Oooooo yesssss WIP VIP! 😻
Pass me my tea cup and shut my door for an hour 🤗 Please and thank you
I laughed so hard at your comment!
@@FinnishKnittingStories shhhh, still watching! 🤫
Talk to you later 🤗
Yeah I feel so naked with my 2 wips. And one of them is a blanket, to be precise.
Luckily your wips gave me so much inspiration to start new knits, especially some summer cardigans!
Loved the vibes and the mood of this VIP episode 🥰
Jana, you make me feel so good! I have 16 WIPs and I was feeling very guilty, but now I am much better... I think your blankets are my favorite things you are making. They all look so cozy and warm ❤
Congratulations, Jana. You really diminished your number of wips during this last year and (nearly) all deserve to be finished. I totally fell in love with the Metsä Kukki, and immediately wanted to upload it when I saw it was a free pattern, but unfortunately it only exists in Finnish, and it's ununderstandable for me. This is clearly my favourite of all your wips, and I hope we will see you proudly wear it soon. One other of my favourite is the trooper sweater for your husband. As it's knitted in nr 3 needles, I'm happy my son didn't see it; I promised to knit him a sweater this year, and he certainly would choose this one. At the beginning of the month, I had 5 WIP's and it clearly was too much for me. I finished all but one (which will wait until springtime) but castonned 2 other projects (a sweater and a pair of socks). If I had all your wips, I think I wouldn't know on which to work.
Thanks so much for sharing Jana. That was most enjoyable❤All of your WIPS are so pretty and totally deserving of a finish. Take your time no hurry. I have 7 wips. More than 10 makes me anxious BUT I probably have over 100 projects waiting for a start.
I have so many wips as well..the sad ones and the ones we can't work on yet ..it's brave to share them. Also the box of shame and what was I thinking WIPs so true. Inspires me to review mine to move forward. A beautiful visit thanks
God bless you Jana, please finish Rai Rai sweater as it is,the yarn color combination is beautiful ,love you
Jana! You are the best!,,❤
I absolutely understand about the dog fur. A couple of years after my dog died I pulled out a rarely worn coat and it was covered with Bingo's hair. It was much more upsetting than I would have expected.
I moved things around and found my old dogs hair. It made me cry even though when he was alive I cursed it.
Velkommen tilbake! Håper å se deg igjen snart❤
That was so fun. Thank you for sharing!!!
A good idea I think is to start with the ones that have the least work to finish....that way you seem to get things done quicker.
It is so fun to get an EXTRA Finnish Knitting Stories video during the week! And it was the promised WIPs video! I was supposed to watch do with the family tonight but my son fell asleep oinstead so what could I do? I had to watch! Thank you!
😄❤️
Less. 19 wips. I find it helpful to divide WiPs and UFOs into categories of how close they are to being finished. Then think about why they are UFOs. Most of mine are either boredom or I chose the wrong yarn for the project. I have made an effort over the past month to finish at least 3 projects. Many more to go
I'm trying the same approach over here. This year I will finish a bunch of them! Or frog. 😂
That was lovely and a great deal of fun xx
Jana Jana oh how your w i p garden grows. I’m sure you can knit up all the garments in no time. Especially the ones almost finished. Definitely, please finish the Melody Hoffmann designs! I seem to have the bug where I need to finish before I start new. You look happy, so all is well !
Really lovely video! I'd be careful with the Forager and maybe check the fit. When I made mine I discovered that the stitch counts are off for some of the sizes, which results in a jumper that's not the right size. I think it is the bigger sizes where there is a problem. I've told Melody Hoffmann and the team agreed that the stitch counts are off but no update has been released yet.
i so loooove your podcast...have a great day..
Hi! Fantastic video! I love It 😍😍
Beautiful projects!!!
My favorite is the garden sweater, so marvellous 🥰🥰❤️
Good luck with unfrog or go ahead 🤩
See you soon !! 🌹😍
all beautiful projects, so many, but you seem to be a very fast knitter.💗
Isn't crazy and doesn't it feel a bit surreal that it's been a year since the war started. And almost ten years after Crimea.
I can feel them breathing down my neck. Or rather at my side, as their border is just a kilometer or two away from our coast/land down here.
Shall we finish our comfort blankets and the war will end indeed? Love this idea!
I love the blanket
Loved seeing you go through your WIPS. My hubby popped into the room as I was watching the episode and asked if I had a many as you do. LOL - I told him no and half of the ones I have I've given myself a deadline of 12/20/23 to where they're done in time to give as Christmas presents. Regarding your Rai Rai sweater you can see the stripes, but they do tend to blend with the other yarn. To me, it depends do you want the stripes to be seen - if so, then I'd do another couple rows of the stripes. If not, then I think it looks great - all depends on how you want it to look like in the end.
Hi Jana. I watched this video. You have so many projects. You are a lovely lady and a great knitter. You are a great Mom and wife and daughter. I went to a yarn store, locally, where I needed some advice about a green shawl I am making with garter stitch and eyelets. It is called Simone Shawl. I am almost done with it. I am also knitting a light weight blanket for summer that is going along well. I am enjoying the yarn by the company Rios which means rivers. It is wonderful to knit with. The color is Lettuce. Take Care. 😊
Oh my goodness such beautiful projects ❤ thank you for the great podcast 🙏🏻
❤❤❤
Thank you sooo much for sharing all your super nice knitting project ❤! Every detail is usefull ! I’m impress by your productivity, you have as much as garnement in progress ,than I have orphelin sock 🧦 waiting for his « soul mate »😂
😄❤️
First, I love the thumbnail/closing photo. 💖
Your videos are so personal and I tend to forget that it's a YT recording and we're NOT sitting together in your crafting area in real time. LOL 😉🙃 These videos are best when done with "company" as you discover the old WIPs and UFOs and you did not disappoint. I laughed when you questioned why you stopped mid-row - there is no real answer since life will life and shake us off of our regular routines. 🤷♀Thank you for sharing your yarny goodness with us. ❤
Thanks jana!!!wow,,,,,I have alot too,,
Frogging g some today!!!!
Elaine🌷⚘
Always fun!!!
❤
That was so much fun to look what you had in all your bags and baskets 😊 I don’t dare to count how many wips I have😅
Hugs! Lotte
I also had lots of fun doing it! 😊
Thanks Jana. That was fun! 28 WIPs….I have 1. Monogamous knitter mostly.
We're all different and that's wonderful! ❤️
Wow. All beautiful love watching you thank you be happy 🥰
I love your candor and your commentary. Thanks for inspiring me. My take away tip was that I could put some of my aspirational projects in kits and some of the ones that need repair or attention in bags so they are ready to go. BTW I knit a batkus too. Why didn’t I put that together?!
I truly admire the garden sweater! I look forward to seeing you wearing it in your garden. 🙂
Loved this ❤️
Such an awesome video!
The rei rei is beautiful and I can see the stripes quite clearly through the camera. So many beautiful wip’s!
So great to see you, Jana. Love to you and Family. Always sending love and prayers!
That was fun. 😁😁
Thank you Janna enjoyed your tips x
It was so fun, Jana - I am amazed that you have so many WIPS - and I dont mean its too many - its just having the energy to even start all those projects amazes me! And I know you well enough to know that you actually do finish a lot of things and that they are lovely. So, I wish you well with frogging those that didnt make the cut, and with moving forward with all of the rest. There were so many lovely yarns and patterns, I wish we had “touch-a-vision” so we could reach out and cuddle all that squishy beauty! Thanks for the laughs after a very busy and fun few days with my grandkids.
I love the sweater and I think the stripes are lovely just the way they are. Your Battenberg is absolutely gorgeous. I really enjoy your podcasts. You lift my spirits. Thank you.
Thank u for this fun and funny podcast
I finished and have started another Anthology alphanumeric . I absolutely love it. I have 4 wips . Yesterday I spent the after winding skeins 😢 .
🍀 hi jana 🥰 I was suspecting but now almost sure that 🤗 guilty is your wonderful project bags " 😘😅😅😅😅
😄
I like to work on multiple wip, I have knitting, crochets, handspinning, weaving and cross stitch, yet I have less WIP than you 😅. Loved the video, so much good stuff in there ❤
Thank you! It took me years to make this collection. 😂
Thank you for sharing all your nice WIPs and lovely projectbags!👍Have a nice week! 🧶😊👍
Hi, thank you for another great episode and also so much fun to see older wips and patterns new to me. Have a great week!❤
There was a rain of wips in Finland today! Love you knits as always
What a beautiful selection of wips Jana thank you for sharing. You are so inspiring, I have 5 wips now want to cast on more 😊
Yes it us a lot but much less than last year. You must finish the colourful long sweater. Heipa
Hello Jana...thank you for this WIP special....should be fun and inspiring🤗🌻 joining from sunny Southern Hemisphere..🌞
I suppose I should go count my WIPs now. Thanks for the fun episode! ❤🧶🧡
27 doesn’t seem so bad! I think I’m in the 40s…. 😬
Some lovely things for you to finish!
Keep warm 😊
I was at 50 a year ago. 🙈 Go check out my last year's episode. 😂
@@FinnishKnittingStories 😂 I will do that! Thanks. Have a fun week :)
I have seven wips. I finished a sweater and a pair of socks in January and about to finish another sweater this week. It’s hard to find the time for all the beautiful things we have the ability to created. Thank you Jana. ❤
Loved the special video! I should really examine my WIPs and UFOs…. 🤪
I made the storm trooper sweater for my son for Christmas. He enjoyed it.
So glad to see you again. Trying to complete all my wips but I have added new ones total 6 wips in progress.
So glad to say - just 3 WIP s, but one is about 5 - 6 years old. But I want to finish it. Thank you for the cute video.
My count has 3 digits, at least the first number is a 1. It would take me hours to go through. I looked at the Sofie scarf and have several super skinny versions on both hooks and needles. I am preparing for neck surgery in a few months and wanted something fun to cover it while it heals.
I love your garden sweater and look forward to seeing it. If you want a suggestion, I'd say rip out the Pink Fizz and give away the sock yarn in the basket. Those both seemed like projects you weren't enthusiastic about. And that garter blanket you showed at the end is so pretty. I also really liked the colors from the subtle striped sweater but if it were me I'd use them for a shawl or something else.
