The sentiment of this song is the secret sauce and Jason’s ability to turn a phrase that you have to think a second and then wham...the meaning hits you in the heart. Profound. Thank you for presenting this, saw him live last Friday night in Florida, felt good to hear live music again.
This is probably one of the most perfect love songs ever by a male songwriter. You do your fans a huge service but introducing it and Jason's work to them.
She also saved his life in leading the intervention to get him sober some years ago. Knowing this, and seeing how he gazes at her at times, just devastates me every time.
He takes a look at so many things from the other side of the mirror, finding new perspectives that feel so true. Like this song and that even the very luckiest of us is likely to end things with a broken heart. Good God.
Jason is probably the best living songwriter right now (Brandi Carlile, Sturgill Simpson, and Chris Stapelton are close too). The entire Southeast album is a modern masterpiece.
Sooooooo much Jason Isbell to hear Quick list of my favourites Dress Blues - Jason Isbell Decoration Day - Drive By Truckers Live Oak - Jason Isbell Outfit - Drive By Truckers I would love to see this content
Yourubes algorithm is jacked up. I search for Jason Isbell reactions about twice a week. I also watch your reactions at least a couple times a week. And for the 1st time tonight, UA-cam suggested this 8 month old video.
Best writer in the business right now, he’s also a legitimately great bluegrass player. Definitely should check out elephant, selfishly I hope you’ll check out cover me up (live from acl as well) it is his song to his wife Amanda Shires the fiddle player and back up vocalist that was hitting those harmonies, of how she saved him from his drug use the song hits close to home for my significant other and myself.
“Songs She Sang in the Shower” might be my original favorite of his.. followed by “Speed Trap Town” and “Relatively Easy” and I could list another 20 after that.. 😂. He’s just incredible and keeps getting better. Treasure!
Been a fan of this song and Jason Isbell for awhile now but just stumbled across this video - you put it perfectly when you speak to the human element of the song. That's something I feel as well when I hear this song but wasn't sure how to put into words. And you nailed it - I literally went to go hug my wife the first time I actually listened through. Great song and great reaction video 👍
When Jason was coming back to music he was in on a Letterman performance with Justin Townes Earl (RIP) playing guitar on Harlem River Blues. Please start down the JTE road with Harlem River Blues!!!
Would love you to react to more Jason (and the 400 Unit) - you really feel the emotion when he sings and his lyrics hit deep. As you noticed they are very human and he doesn't shy away from life or difficult topics. His wife Amanda (singing with him here) helped him get sober and many of his songs touch on his experiences. I can't pick a favourite - it depends entirely on the day and my mood - but Songs That She Sang In The Shower, Last of My Kind, Cover Me Up, Alabama Pines, Travelling Alone and Live Oak would all be high on the list.
Tbh, I think you missed the point. He's not saying "if only we were vampires. He's saying the fact that their time is limited is a gift because it makes the time they do have special.
Enjoyed this. You definitely should check out more from Isbell. Plenty of reactions already for Cover Me up and Elephant, but he literally has dozens of amazing songs worthy of a reaction.
I am a fan of vocalists and of course lyrics. So I don’t say it lightly when I say, Jason Isbell is this generation’s Bob Dylan. Hands down, the best singer songwriter to grace our ears these days. His backstory of addiction and being saved by a wonderful woman, leading to a second chance at life and massive success. His catalog is worth a dive. Check out, “White Man’s World”. Maybe not as in your face as Rage Against The Machine, but one hell of statement from a guy born in Alabama.
Best currently living lyricist. I love that your channel is so diverse god damn. Listening to guys from Armenia, guys from Alabama, and a Christian metal band.
Jason Isbell crafts songs the way Amish folks build furniture. Once I listened to him all those years ago when he was still with Drive-By Truckers, I could never go back to IKEA again.
Glad you did this one man its a good one elephant is another good one He is one of the best songwriters out there and a guitar monster . love your reactions . very good stuff
This song hit's real hard.. I don't even want to love any more people. When you get to a certain age you lose your best friends, parents, and other loved ones. I don't want to be a vampire , hell I don't even want another dog because I don't want to keep out living them.
I think the point is that if we were vampires we would take the time we have for granted. We would pair up with other vampires or face watching everyone we love die. “I wouldn’t feel the need to hold your hand” , because you know it will be there tomorrow.
Bro, I normally watch reaction videos not expecting much honestly. This video was great, your voice is awesome and your actually comment on the song and have good and interesting takes. Great job
Not really unpopular. Music is so subjective and we all have different songs that draw us in. I love this one, but there are many others I love more. Songs That She Sang in the Shower, Live Oak, Decoration Day, and Cover Me Up are some of my faves.
Come on, dude....get out of your head and into your heart. One of the most epically poignant songs I've ever heard and you treat it with all of the emotion of an algebra equation.
Thx for uploading. If you have a minute come check out my cover of Chris Stapleton - I'm a singer-songwriter and think you may dig my sound. Really appreciate it!
Jason is one of the best writers working. Way back to his youth in Drive-by Truckers.
One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest songwriters alive.
This song screams, Don't take life or your loved ones for granted. Great song.
Widowed after 40 years, this song makes me cry Every. Single.Time. 💔
The sentiment of this song is the secret sauce and Jason’s ability to turn a phrase that you have to think a second and then wham...the meaning hits you in the heart. Profound. Thank you for presenting this, saw him live last Friday night in Florida, felt good to hear live music again.
"Elephant" "Cover Me Up" "24 Frames" "Children of Children" "Tupelo" (to name just a few.) Jason Isbell is incredibly talented! Enjoy
This is probably one of the most perfect love songs ever by a male songwriter. You do your fans a huge service but introducing it and Jason's work to them.
Jason Isbell is definitely one of the greatest songwriters ever
This is a beautiful song this guy is the best writer of today. Hands down the guy is a genius with his lyrics.
The woman providing harmony is his wife, Amanda Shires. An amazing musician in her own right.
Her song "You Are My Home" is stellar. I think of it as a sort of companion to his "Cover Me Up."
She also saved his life in leading the intervention to get him sober some years ago. Knowing this, and seeing how he gazes at her at times, just devastates me every time.
Now divorced.
You beat me by 1 day lol @@Bobbysgirl1974
It's the brevity of life that makes the love story.so beautiful
He takes a look at so many things from the other side of the mirror, finding new perspectives that feel so true. Like this song and that even the very luckiest of us is likely to end things with a broken heart. Good God.

The album you’d choose if stranded on a desert island
You missed so many others
It’s Benjamin Tod, but Jason is probably second.
@@benjaminfoord2447 It’s all subjective but Tod is nowhere near the level of writer Isbell is.
He lacks talent and experience.
Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Kris Kristofferson are still living
literally one of the best song writers to ever live react to any of his songs you will see
Jason Isbell is the greatest songwriter of our generation
Sooooooo much Jason Isbell to hear
Quick list of my favourites
Dress Blues - Jason Isbell
Decoration Day - Drive By Truckers

Cover me up by Jason is one of the most amazing songs ever!!!! Has to be up next!!!
Yes, Cover Me Up is a great song.
Best writer in the business right now, he’s also a legitimately great bluegrass player. Songs is the first one I fell in love with too!
Agree 100%. Amazingly well written song
When you’re truly in love with your soulmate, this song hits differently. 26 years and counting babe!!
one of my favorite songs

There are so many great songs written by Isbell. You may want to mine that vein further. Amazing stuff.
Great, great song
Jason Isbell is like nobody else. Remarkable.
Been checking out a bunch of your videos, I clicked on this immediately. Thanks for doing it, one of best songs of the last 10 years
Tbh, I think you missed the point. He's not saying "if only we were vampires. He's saying the fact that their time is limited is a gift because it makes the time they do have special.
Please... please do the live "cover me up"
Enjoyed this. You definitely should check out more from Isbell. Plenty of reactions already for Cover Me up and Elephant, but he literally has dozens of amazing songs worthy of a reaction.
Tom Petty said Jason Isbell is the greatest song writer of this generation. I can’t disagree
Best songwriter alive.

best song writer EVER!
My children and grandchildren will carry on for me.
That’s why he wants to hold her hand because we are not vampires and time together is precious
This song kills me! Yes...a very human reflection on mortality. Best line: "...maybe time running out is a gift..."
Glad you did this one man its a good one elephant is another good one He is one of the best songwriters out there and a guitar monster . love your reactions . very good stuff

Cover me up is Isbell’s best song, especially after learning the meaning of the song.
if i could suggest any artist to react to, or listen to on your own time. Its jason isbell. period.
So glad you got to Jason! Definitely elephant next
I think the point is that if we were vampires we would take the time we have for granted. We would pair up with other vampires or face watching everyone we love die. “I wouldn’t feel the need to hold your hand” , because you know it will be there tomorrow.
You need to review more of him if you want to "feel a song". Best songwriter going by "miles".
Bro, I normally watch reaction videos not expecting much honestly. This video was great, your voice is awesome and your actually comment on the song and have good and interesting takes. Great job
Elephant should be the next Jason Isbell song!
Unpopular opinion, but this isn't his very best song. Elephant or Cover me Up are amazing as is Live Oak.
Cover me up was my wedding song.. its truly unbelievable
not at all unpopular opinion. With a catalogue like his it's hard to pick a best. Alabama Pines is another one that always gets me
Even his not best is far and above better than most.
Not really unpopular. Music is so subjective and we all have different songs that draw us in. I love this one, but there are many others I love more. Songs That She Sang in the Shower, Live Oak, Decoration Day, and Cover Me Up are some of my faves.
Overlooked is Speed Trap Town
I would recommend reacting to "Dress Blues" by Jason Isbell
You HAVE to hear his sone White Man's World.
You have to check out elephant is one of the best stories in a song I’ve ever heard
ELEPHANT... got to do elephant!
It's not 'if only we were vampires', it's: If we were vampires we would be be missing out on the love we have.
Mooi hoor.
The horror of being while she isn't. I'd die a thousand deaths to not feel that.
Man, pls, Miyagi & Andy Pand - Yamakasi (with subtitles!)
It’s the f***n movie, which you should see!
Respect from 🇷🇺 for you and your channel, dude
Please continue with him! Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, ....theres a difference when the singer's the songwriter IMO
Trapeze Artist by Iron and Wine!
"Yvette" should be on your radar....by Isbell
The violin player is his wife.
Do “Elephant”
Yall think he talks like this in his day to day life?
Singing it with his wife hits hard. Not together now tho
I hope I AM the one left behind. Not because I want to be, but because that might mean that she wouldn't be.
The Springsteen of Americana
Come on, dude....get out of your head and into your heart. One of the most epically poignant songs I've ever heard and you treat it with all of the emotion of an algebra equation.
Elephant
Purdy please listen to Elephant by him 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thx for uploading. If you have a minute come check out my cover of Chris Stapleton - I'm a singer-songwriter and think you may dig my sound. Really appreciate it!
Man, you came so close to the point but then completely missed it…
I saw a recent interview with Jason. He said this song and Cast Iron Skillet he will never play live again. That’s what he said!
