The message in the chat "The essences are bursting" means that essences will start dropping from enemies in certain biomes: ocean (Tidal Essence), snow (Icy Essence), desert (Dune Essence), jungle (Primeval Essence), and underworld (Fiery Essence)

To make it harder I think for these randomizers you should try making it so you can only randomize items that you could access at that point in the game. So like when you kill bosses that usually allow you to get certain weapons or when you get to hard mode those items are added to the randomize pool. Not sure how hard that would be to set up but It would make a really hard run.
