My favorite thing about thylas has always been the fact that they can straight up to a 180° turn midair snd fly after you if they miss

If you put normal meat in them with the kibble, they wont accidentally eat the extra kibble because when theyre tamed they only eat kibble if theres nothing else to eat

Just a tip Syntac; No need to put food on them in order to track them. Once you get them tranqued you can look in the tracker lists and click the "Tames in progress" tab and it will be there😊

There's definitely been a thyla buff. At first in ASA, I could grab them with an argy from above with no problem, then I noticed in one of the ASA update change logs that thylas got some sort of buff to their pounce. Since then, it's nearly impossible to pluck a thyla off a tree. Makes it more fun! (?)
They were doing that in ASE...

They made everything waaay less lethal imo. I don’t even have to trap most stuff anymore 😮 also WC fix the follow and follow render thing. Getting tame home in water is an absolute nightmare
you'd think after years of playing with newbies and pros alike, he'd have the basics down. but, like every other content creator: NOPE! dunno if it's so we can laugh our collective asses off or if he really doesn't know/forgot this sort of stuff, but he does it.
If you put regular food (meat/berries) in their inventory along with kibble they wont eat extra kibble when they tame up. They only prioritize it while taming, so they won't eat it while KO and ruin effectiveness or eat too much after taming.

I would also imagine based on what you said in this video, that you won’t be able to put Cryo fridges on platform saddles, I think that would defeat the purpose of what they’re going for. Have to wait-and-see.

I've been thyla hunting the past 2 days and they have been jumping up at me too. Now I know where I can safely trigger them to jump up and their parabolic trajectory makes them sail for miles!! It's hilarious!!
I got nailed by one while clearing them out of the redwoods as they were all low level. I think my shield was able to block some of the attacks. Or maybe its how short my character is, she qualifies as a Gnome from DND, and her riot shield is almost taller than she is.
The level 70 blue thyla that pounced your bird is the same one that pounced you so it did remount the tree right above your death bag at 27:35. Its also the same one that killed you the second time lol

Nice timing! I introduced a friend to Yuty taming for the first time on our private server yesterday! Ran into a nice snowfield with like 7 of them and chaos of course ensued.
Syn if you go into the menu and tracking. On the top left there is a drop down menu and you can track the tames from there even if you haven’t fed them yet. Just click the marker looking button.

If you are going to tame a Quetzal, apparently you can throw Honey out in front of it and it will try for a second or two to get it. It will go lower bit by bit as you throw more and then you can actually trap it instead of the Grappling Hook method. I haven't done it yet, but if I can find one with a level higher than 20 I will try it

The moral of this story is: You don't find thylas, they find you!
I reckon that for the cryopods they should just put a limit on how many times you can throw out a creature before it needs recharging again

You can find tames in progress under the tracking tab without food in its inventory

FYI, You can track knocked out dino's in the tracker. Select "Tames in Progress" drop down, before adding food.

If you're looking for a good prank, you could always fill his inventory with wood and handcuff him.
I ALWAYS shoot a thyla off the tree first, before grabbing it. For this exact reason. Idk why it never happened to you before, but yes... it's a thing!

There’s a bug right now where you can complete any imprint by just pressing the interact button, but if it’s a food craving, and you use this bug, then whatever is in the last slot of your hot bar will disappear.

Oh? I thought this was from a Mod I added "Better Breeding" didn't like it making raising them so easy just wanted to not have to breed and breed and breed for the stats lol.

@@xbeast1997x This is working for me too, and I don't use that mod. I was told on Discord that it had to do with the event but I can't confirm that anywhere.
The event might have something to do with it, as I don’t remember being able to do this earlier, but I’m not sure I even tried. I also thought you had to download a mod to feet the event to run, which I haven’t

I’ve never personally seen a Thyla climb a tree but I’ve see the same one that jumped out of a tree back in another tree
The colors on that thyla remind me of a honeybee.
I was flying at a distance I thought was well clear of the southern edge of the redwoods. I mean I could see them but nope I was not far enough and a thyla knocked me into the swamp. Was really lucky to survive given what else was in the area. I'd flown that way many times without trouble but *this one time* it wasn't good enough.
I've seen other youtubers try to test cryofridges on platform saddles and they couldn't place them directly on the saddle or on a foundation on the saddle.
They do climb back up trees. It happened to me lol
Even in ASE thylas launch upwards to take you off mounts. I've been grabbed while flying through the top of the redwoods several times.

this happened to me few weeks back now im actually scared of the redwoods lmao
the thylas do just teleport onto a tree when you leave render if they are not aggro, at least on official. with the low render range, waypoints and turning trees off i was trying to see how they climbed back up, but it seems like there's no animation, they just move spot instantly and dont even need to be right next to the tree, it just puts them on the closest one. if its fighting wilds it will stay down till it has nothing to kill.

Why ? More Central. Built up on Metal Pillars of course. You can make it as big as needed there.
Heck even use Wood at first to get pillar spacing by 4 foundations apart and get a level Flooring for the Huge Taming Pen and Surrounding area to walk on, and land tames on ... Or Walk Tames down & Up as needed.

Near 50,50 on the map, there's a point on the north shore of the river that could be a perfect taming pen location. I used it as a base location since it was easy to fly to any location on the island
Let me guess... you mean around 48:49?? I have my ASE base location there.. neatly placed cliff platform on the tip, hanging over the water as the base for the entire build.. Fenced off to the Volcano side and with a bridge from the top of the build over to the redwoods, with a Behe gate at the end to block off redwoods creatures coming over.. So many biomes meet at that point and the distance to virtually any resource is short..
Might be able to pick up some of the bigger tames with the Quetz, too.

I believe Thylas are one of the best mounts. Great fall damage reduced great swimmer fast runner good jumper clings to walls. Its a well rounded mount. It just cant fly but I found no problem keeping up with people in the air while I was on Thylas.
Quetz taming hack: fly above and throw honey at them from your hotbar, they will follow it to the ground, where you can gate them

THe hit box for accessing the Yuty's inventory has always been weird I think? Whenever I try to tame them in Evolved I always have to like go to their rear end otherwise it doesn't allow me to access it

YEa they mentioned in their update that they adjusted Thylas I found out after that update that ghillie suits dont work anymore.
Syntac...... just to let you know you can track tames with out having to put food in them. You just need to go to your Tames page and then go to the drop down to "tames in progress". It should show up there for you with and with out food in the inventory. It just automatically shows up when food is added to it.

I would know myself, sometimes you do great things for a lot of people, and you don't even know if they appreciate it or how much they appreciate it, it might sound dumb to some people, but it can be a huge deal to others. It's always good to let someone know how much they help you, or how they make you feel, because it might just be what they themselves want to hear.
That being said, sometimes this is done just to be an attention grabber, but if it makes someone feel better, what does it matter?
