One thing to point out, they keep their WILD stats when in friend mode! This means that they are essentially as strong as a wild giga but without the bleed in friend mode, so you literally have like a temporary wild giga on your side for 10 mins

This is even better than a noglin though, since the noglin always kills whatever it controls, while this actually has the side effect of potentially taming something
I have to say that I absolutely love that this dino's taming method isn't the standard "knock it out and keep it out until it likes you", but rather "First, show me you're a provider of food, then show me you're a provider of FUN!"
I imagine the highlands is actually the best place to tame them, considering it's a natural spawn of both them and ovis. Remember that ovis have a super high harvest health for their size and they provide mutton, it works for Fjordhawks and would likely work similarly for Carchars
@@MyOpinionIsInvalid Yeah you're 100% right, I've tested this mf out for a bit and it's based on the kill, which appears to be based on size. However I gotta be honest this thing looks like it's gonna be cheeks compared to official stat PvP Gigas. To tame it you will need several brontos as the Carcharodontosaurus will want Herbivore dinos, and the best one that gives you several EXP will be the Brontos. The meter that showed on the left side of the HUB bar is a buff that can reach up to 100 and once done you will triple the damage per bite. The roar will buff your tamed dinos or tribe dinos to get a speed buff, also the roar will deplete your "kill count" to provide the speed buff
I love the roar of the carchar as well, it looks really cool while still being short to retain combat effectiveness. We all know the Yuty, Rex and Giga love to sit there vulnerable while they roar and take hits. Not so with the carchar. Between the abilities, taming strategy, and this, I feel like the carchar is a somewhat smarter opponent than the Giga, a great rivalry of brawn vs brains. I wonder if we’ll get a design of this magnificent beat in Ark 2
Just tamed one and ironically had the opposite issue: had a lot of trouble trying to feed her to the friendship meter but super easy once I started taking out dinos. Redwoods is real close to the spawn you got this guy at, some big creatures in there that could be hit back, but a huge density of small carnivores that could be good. Just gotta watch for thylas
1. Trap carcha. 2. Bring a wyvern to help you kill things for friendship meter. 3. Kill till friendship is about 2 minutes. 4. Return it to trap. 5. Repeat process. Possibly build lots of traps near to where they spawn so you can ride them to a new trap. That way you have critters near you at all times.
This is such a good taming method. Especially because of the sniffing animation. You know when it's working. Great addition to the creature collection and a great taming method :)
Hey Syntac, I think the best way to tame the carchar is to tame Dodds and breed them as a sacrifice because most creatures seemed to give similar taming percent, it would need a lot of testing but is worth the shot. Edit: It works on unclaimed and enemy dinos, and gives you 100% efficiency
not to bad on official tamed lvl 90 today my fourth and highest lvl so far had to ride it 3 times to get the progress up to 70% then hit with elixir and done i used baby rexs high lvl base stat no muts or anythn raised friendship meter full with one baby and no trap was used before timer runs out clear an area so it wont aggro anythn wen u hop off throw out flyer and fly up till timer runs out then land bak down close but not to close throw out baby rex cryo flyer kill baby drag to carchar rinse repeat
If you get close to the time limit, walk back to your trap, park him/her in there, close the last gate again and voila - no worries with remounting (despite loosing the taming efficiency ofc). Guess Extinction snowy area is the best spot for taming. Ovis, Megatheria, Mammoths, Wolves, Pigs, Yutys, ... (And quite many of them as well - hardly 10 metres without mobs).
you don't even need a trap tbh. If you can herd it near a cliff like the mountain spawn of fjordur you can do it without one. I tamed my carchas that way bc the trap method would aggro them on the gates and bug out the feeding
I’ve learned that even after force taming it it won’t let you ride it without a saddle like any other Dino so maybe that’s what that sign means in the explorer note
To increase the taming effectiveness go and try kill dinos (or unclaim ones) with a large HP pool (or with a lot of points invested into HP) up vote so people would see.
It's based on drag weight I think - Galli method works well because pvp players abused the hell out of them (clipping them through structures using Argys with multiple allies mounted on them) so much the devs hugely buffed their drag weights so Argys can't lift them no more (you can't even bola them either as result).
I think I figured out the whole friendship process works. Gallis tend to be super speedy especially if you pump movement speed into them, maybe that's why gallis are so effective during the friendship process? I say this cause it has a roar that buffs speed to ally creatures.
I actually heard someone say that whooly rhinos are good too, and they are very fast too! The trike in the video worked pretty ok too, and it has quite a speedy charge, so this may make some very good sense! Good observation
@@thijsvos1852 people say whooly rhinos are good is beacuse the drag weight to hp ratio is the best, bcs they only have 375 weight meaning player with 375+ weight can carry them, stegos are the best for it imo they are everywhere and they only have 250 drag weight
@@steropor2954 i was only seeing if it was cause of that. Its still relatively new, i figured it would have been a fun experiment to see. But cool thanks for telling me its cause of weight.
Syn the bar that has the number and the timer next to the hot bar gives a buff if its above 0 and if the charcarodontosaurus roars, the buff is called invigoration and it boosts the speed of nearby players and I'm assuming dinos as well Edit: the buff is called incited not invigoration
That metre on the left of the hot bar confused me too, then I found out (after messing around with one for 20 minutes last night) that the number in the box gets higher with every kill and the higher the number, the longer the buff from the roar lasts. If the number in the box is 0% there is no buff.
Hey syntac, I did some testing and found to build friendship wooly rhinos worked best and things that spawn in packs or groups with low-medium hp like mammoths, wolves, carnos were amazing for getting the breeding effectiveness up
I feel like on e it's trapped then you unleash cryo breed creatures (probably Rex) don't care about sickness, just need passive and unclaimed. Then bring tributes and go wild into your probably unconscious army of a meal. Definitely seems like a tribe will be invaluable in helping tame them
I got a Hint for everyone Use crystal isles to tame this dude Heres how 1. Go to the desert 2.find one u want 3. Lead it over to the white beach area 4. Build the trap there and use turtles and trikes 5. When it lets u ride on head over to the griffin area 6. Kill as many griffins (and everything u encounter on the way over there) 7. If ur lucky u get it first try I used this strat on a Server with no taming boost (prime meat does 11 % of a 200 giga if that gives u an idea of it / for me its not taming boosted)
Bro it's literally a passive tame giga, I never thought I'd see the day. These guys looks fun too, the giga is already a pretty fast dino, but the carchar is *fast,* even as a land dino this guy could probably rival a wyvern in terms of transport speed
The reason all the frenzy stacks went away is because you had him roar which uses all the frenzy stacks to give surrounding friendlies a buff just so you know Syntac.
Always loved this game so much but haven’t played in like 5+ years so I’m super afraid of how far behind I’d be if I ever actually started again😅 Great vid and info!❤️
Just tamed my first one (a 140-145), I fed it two baby rexes and it was stressful but I did rather enjoy the mechanic. Definitely the most challenging tame so far for me. :D
Boy, I'll tell you. I just watched the entire Pillow Cube ad. The one with "The Girl". If you know, you know. Just drop dead gorgeous! Finna buy one (the pillow, that is).
I think what it seems to be is that the taming effectiveness goes up based on some kind of multiplier while he is on frenzy mode in other words the more dinos you’re eating while he’s in bloodlust the faster it seems to tame
The Giga has only been the king of PvE since Reaper kings became a thing, imo. In PvP any good mutated Theri can make a Giga instant rage in a couple of swipes and then the rider is almost always done for. This thing looks really cool though, honestly just a struggle with these updates for Playstation users like myself, tbf i play on pretty good wifi but wifi none the less. Takes up to 15 hours to copy the download file after using 90 min. or so to download the copy file. Pretty much just takes almost a full day to get done and there is no warning/notification from the console itself/ARK itself when an update will become mandatory. I look forward to seeing more Carcha videos in the future.

The video just came out and I've already watched it 40 times and I can say that he in fact does tame a dinosaur with a name I can't spell.
Hmm I smell sus.
Mhm, 40 times.
36 minute video in 16 minutes.
You are still watching the first
LMAO BRO GOT CAUGHT IN 4K
It was supposed to be a joke in case you guys couldnt tell
high level dodos increases the taming bar by a bunch
which means you increase the friend bar with high level galis and the taming bar with dodos
Ooooooo!! I can't wait to tame one for my self😁 I just started the update an hour ago!
Isn't the update only 6gb?
@@yournan6199 yep. And mine will finish innnnnn 🤔….. 19 hours 😃
@@yournan6199 yeah but my system is slow said 12hrs for me 🥲
Hey Syntac, I think the best way to tame the carchar is to tame Dodds and breed them as a sacrifice because most creatures seemed to give similar taming percent, it would need a lot of testing but is worth the shot.
Edit: It works on unclaimed and enemy dinos, and gives you 100% efficiency
cant u tame this thing with like nothing? like imagine being lvl 10 and running around with this thing tamed
These would be good for the brood mother on the island, because it summons like a billion spiders so you can get a lot of frenzy points
The Carchar look amazing! But seeing how slow the taming meter go up im nervous for how slow and hard it will be on Official
not to bad on official tamed lvl 90 today my fourth and highest lvl so far had to ride it 3 times to get the progress up to 70% then hit with elixir and done i used baby rexs high lvl base stat no muts or anythn raised friendship meter full with one baby and no trap was used before timer runs out clear an area so it wont aggro anythn wen u hop off throw out flyer and fly up till timer runs out then land bak down close but not to close throw out baby rex cryo flyer kill baby drag to carchar rinse repeat
This is the beauty of ark
doesn't matter how good you are ark will surprise you .
Try with the sheep, every carnivore loves lamb chops 😋
If you get close to the time limit, walk back to your trap, park him/her in there, close the last gate again and voila - no worries with remounting (despite loosing the taming efficiency ofc). Guess Extinction snowy area is the best spot for taming. Ovis, Megatheria, Mammoths, Wolves, Pigs, Yutys, ... (And quite many of them as well - hardly 10 metres without mobs).
I'm pretty new to Ark and just wanted to ask one question. What Ark map is this being played on?
Ragnarok ;)
@@joerid7521 bro thank you so much, have an honest to god great day.
“ NO IM FRIEND NOT FOOD”
Syntac 2022
Probably a dumb question, but do the dino gates need to be metal or is stone fine?
Well just like a giga it can damage stone but you can probably get it done with stone anyways
you don't even need a trap tbh.
Can't wait to see the mutations. Gf is already slaughtering gigas on her Ragnarok map to try and get one to spawn.
To increase the taming effectiveness go and try kill dinos (or unclaim ones) with a large HP pool (or with a lot of points invested into HP)
up vote so people would see.
i absolutely love that the spines on the back of the head/neck move during the attacks
A little tip, when you try to fill the friendly meter, the galli is the way to easily fill it up, like I only need 2 of any levels to fill the meter
It's based on drag weight I think - Galli method works well because pvp players abused the hell out of them (clipping them through structures using Argys with multiple allies mounted on them) so much the devs hugely buffed their drag weights so Argys can't lift them no more (you can't even bola them either as result).
Bro that’s insane
31:19 syntac cough
I think I figured out the whole friendship process works. Gallis tend to be super speedy especially if you pump movement speed into them, maybe that's why gallis are so effective during the friendship process? I say this cause it has a roar that buffs speed to ally creatures.
Could be something to experiment with syntac.
I actually heard someone say that whooly rhinos are good too, and they are very fast too! The trike in the video worked pretty ok too, and it has quite a speedy charge, so this may make some very good sense! Good observation
higher drag weight of the dino means better effectivnes, its not because of speed?lmao ,galli has 410,wolly rhino has 375...you can google the rest
Syn the bar that has the number and the timer next to the hot bar gives a buff if its above 0 and if the charcarodontosaurus roars, the buff is called invigoration and it boosts the speed of nearby players and I'm assuming dinos as well
Edit: the buff is called incited not invigoration
Definitely seems like a tribe will be invaluable in helping tame them
The floating mamoth in the back when he is showing off the moves LOL!
omg i love the design of the carcharodontosaurus, it looks very menacing and gives off a intimidating vibe
For science videos are always the most fun.
I got a Hint for everyone
Use crystal isles to tame this dude
Heres how
1. Go to the desert
2.find one u want
3. Lead it over to the white beach area
4. Build the trap there and use turtles and trikes
5. When it lets u ride on head over to the griffin area
6. Kill as many griffins (and everything u encounter on the way over there)
7. If ur lucky u get it first try
I used this strat on a Server with no taming boost (prime meat does 11 % of a 200 giga if that gives u an idea of it / for me its not taming boosted)
Bro it's literally a passive tame giga, I never thought I'd see the day. These guys looks fun too, the giga is already a pretty fast dino, but the carchar is *fast,* even as a land dino this guy could probably rival a wyvern in terms of transport speed
Maybe the taming effectiveness won't decrease if you dismount before he bucks you off. Idk if it will work but it's worth a shot.
u can get it early and easily with corpses early game op
Carcha is to the giga what the tropeo was for the tapejara... A reskin with very few things added.
The reason all the frenzy stacks went away is because you had him roar which uses all the frenzy stacks to give surrounding friendlies a buff just so you know Syntac.
Always loved this game so much but haven’t played in like 5+ years so I’m super afraid of how far behind I’d be if I ever actually started again😅 Great vid and info!❤️
i can already tell this will be a good video
Syntac the roar allows for the speed boost to happen, and the higher number of kills you get the longer the time of the boost last
Wipe days are gonna be fun with these running around
I bet the centre map near penguin island would be a great spot, especially if they’re over spawning
Nothing better on Sunday morning than to hear Syntac scream his lady scream 🤣
You are so supporting for me I just got ark and you have helped a lot tysm
Sub to Rex the lizard
I love how no one has pointed out that he misspelled CHARCARodontosaurus (check Ark it's spelled with H in first)
The Giga has only been the king of PvE since Reaper kings became a thing, imo.
Ark has changed a lot since I last played One of the best big dino models.
I'm wondering if wild levels are taken into consideration. It might be why the tamed creature didn't give much taming percentage.
