- Welcome back to Expedition Epcot, this week is our first stop for a look at the history of Wonders of Life at Epcot. This now closed pavilion came to life with its circus themes and thrill ride inside before it was left abandoned and a shell of its former self.

This was definitely the most a e s t h e t I c attraction at Epcot. It looked like a late 80s/90s mall.
why write aesthetic like that?
I guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account??
I somehow forgot my account password. I love any tricks you can give me!
@Leland Misael Instablaster =)
I feel like Disney has completely decided that "well, selling a bright future is no longer making enough money so anything that has to do with a bright future (EPCOT/Tomorrowland) should no longer be maintained. Just keep painting over the cracks and we can keep hiding this."
I used the making of me as a springboard to a birds and bees talk with my son. It was actually a great segway to the TALK.
Really good sex ed film.
It’s weird how our mind works. Obviously, I haven’t been in the pavilion in years but I remember the Rose Parade having something to do with the Wonder Cycles. Lo and behold, the part around 4:35 brought it all back. It’s almost as if I’m back in those childhood moments all over again.
I just got back from my first WDW visit. When I was using the bathroom in the Wonders of Life building I commented to someone else washing their hands how weird it was to have to pull toilet handles and faucets. He told me the whole history about the building which I knew nothing about. Too bad because I always wanted to ride Body Wars and see some of the other exhibits they used to have. I really enjoyed Spaceship Earth, Carousel of Progress, and the greenhouse ride, but I can see how those could be in danger. I'm glad I finally got to experience them.
Spaceship earth is definitely in danger because of how old it is and how hard it is to maintain. Living with the land and Carousel of Progress aren't in much danger. Living with the land heads through the greenhouses which are still used and shows a unique behind the scenes experience and Carousel of Progress is one of the original Walt Disney rides. Unless there is a MAJOR issue with it it's not going away.
Not to mention Spaceship Earth lost their sponsor too. I really hope they can figure it out though. They can't remove the whole golf ball (term of endearment)...I hope.
“The Wonders of Life lived a short life.”
Isn’t that ironic.
I wouldn't call 18 years short. Those born the year it was built graduated from high school the year it was closed.
This pavilion was so popular during my first two trips (1990 and 1992). It's wild to think the current Figment ride has had almost as long a run as Wonders of Life ever had.
Yeah such a shame really!
That is bonkers!
Now the current figment ride has outlived wonders of life. The current figment ride is 21 years old while Wonders Of Life only lasted 18 years.
Weird that a show about contraception is at a theme park, staring Martin short 😂 love the 80s style and swinging mobile from the ceiling. I liked going in here when Epcot uses it for their festivals.
They’re finally going to redo this pavilion. They’re calling it the Play Pavilion. An interactive city like area where you can play and interact with Disney characters.
I went inside that building a few weeks ago for the food and wine festival and it honestly could use some further updates it looks like a dead mall that was built in the 1970's that turned into a flea market and dispite the roof repairs you can see water damage on the dome ceiling. I really hope that when Epcot gets overhauled they either put a new attraction(s) in the pavilion or gut it and turn it into an event center
I don't think anything will be happening soon but i may be wrong!
@@ExpeditionThemePark still I don't see Disney paying for repairs to a roof that they'er not going to use more than a couple times a year
I don't see why they didn't get another medical company to sponsor Wonders of Life. It looked so cool! Too bad the only time I went while it was still opened we skipped it because I was too short for Body Wars.
I heard they tried but couldn't. Epcots sponsor system was really flawed
@@ExpeditionThemePark And outdated. I'm sure they can afford to fund it by now with or without a sponsor.
Body Wars was a fun ride. People I knew complained or winced when it was brought up but I never had an issue with it. It was a typical VR ride for its time.
I was there on the final day of wonders of life, the park was really busy but wonders of life was a ghost town, not even a line for body wars and we only saw 1 cast member the entire time we were inside, what a sad, quiet end.
Yeah, though nobody knew it would not open again. Still a shame!
@@ExpeditionThemePark the cast member we saw told us it was the last day, not sure if she meant for the season or not, but we ended up being on the final body wars ride, it was nearly empty, sad
The wonders of life was great at teaching disney park guests about health and medicine. Cranium command was my favorite show at that pavilion.
We went in 2004. I remember that most of the stuff in the central area seemed closed, and that since I was only 8 I was freaked out by Cranium Command. I still wish I had gone when I was a bit older to really take an interest in what was going on around me.
Thank you for doing Wonders of Life!! I look forward to seeing the Body Wars and Cranium Command videos. I absolutely love your channel and your Expedition Epcot videos are always my favorite! :)
thank you so much Hannah!
Great video!! I loooove any information about reused pieces around the resorts/parks like that arch. The "Cool Ship" spaceship in MK is from the backlot tour in HS and before that was used in the movie Flight of the Navigator (one of my favs)!
I was just in this pavilion the day this was posted. It actually pretty nice in there, for the food and wine festival. There was lots of things for the festival in there, and a lot of sponsored vendors selling wares. It has a bright second life as a festival pavilion.
I'm glad I got to experience this pavilion.
Did you like it?
@@ExpeditionThemePark Oh,yes! I saw everything except the Anacomical Players and "The Making Of Me"....if I had any complaints,it'd be that, during waiting in that godawful long line for Body Wars (I'm guessing this was their opening year),there was nothing to look at....as opposed to Star Tours with its queue full of display screens and conversational droids.
I mean,seriously....the setting is a fictional medical miniaturization company, and all I have to look at is a bunch of blue walls?!
Just stumbled upon your channel a few days ago......Now im literally with some chinese food and binge watching your vids! Gotta stay up to date with theme park history!
Haha hope you enjoy!
Great video! Wonders of Life will always be one of my favorite pavilions. I always say I basically grew up there since I had family members who worked for Metlife (One behinds the scenes of the pavilion, the other in one of their regular offices) so we spent a lot of time in the sponsor lounge (free drinks and snacks! And front of the line for Body Wars). I was always told that the reason Met didn't continue sponsoring it was because they no longer really did health insurance and instead did life insurance more than anything.
I still love going into the pavilion now even though it's a shell of it's former self. The bathrooms are really the only place you can *really* tell what it used to be anymore.
I wouldn't be surprised if they just keep it as a permanent festival center since it works fine.
Yeah, with more and more dates added to the festival it will be year round eventually!
Damn I wish I could of visited wonders
meme dealer technically you can during the Food and Wine festival
but its not the same
I actually went to the pavillion during the most recent food and wine festival and it's a far cry from what it once was. Pretty much all of the original props and signage have been removed, and the building interior has been repainted to more muted colors. Not only that, but the building was in a pretty terrible state (at least by Disney standards). The tiles in the bathroom were chipped and dirty; and the ceiling tiles in the main dome were in desperate need of a cleaning.
The building is going to be demolished sometime this year I think. I'm pretty sad that the Wonders of Life is gone (I spent a lot of time there as a kid), but it's really a husk now, and I think they need to tear down the building.
Me too.
Stefania Zimmerman it’s not being demolished. It’s just being renovated
I loved this place back in the day. I have since been in it in its new "Festival Centre" guise during F&G and it just feels really weird to me. Not so much because I remember it in great detail (I have memory issues) but because you can just tell that was never its intended purpose. I hope they do something that properly brings life back to it.
Yeah it is weird to see the remnants of the past still there!
7:24 that’s got to be telling us that there’s a lot of internet their I wanna go there desperately now
Me too!!!! 💜
this is my favorite pavilion to read about!! so excited to watch this one. also, i love the use of ray lynch music 😊
Hope you enjoy!
They also do test market stuff up stairs in the pavilion, I want to say a few years ago I got a $25 gift card to do it, basically I had to sit through a tv screening, and they were watching for people's reactions.
Interesting, didn't know that
What was being screened? How did you like it?
Great video! I never got to experience the Wonders of Life pavilion. I was always confused as to what the big dome was before I found out from watching yours and other theme park channels.
But at least one can find the full Making of Me film available on UA-cam :) It's actually a really good film
"Celestial Soda Pop" by Ray Lynch. Good choice in music.
It's a shame Disney got rid of The Making of Me. After all, if you can't trust Disney with giving the facts of life to your kids then who can you trust?
Here's hoping for a video on Disneyland's Indian Village or the Pocahontas attractions this month. That would be perfect.
It's a family-friendly company and in this generation, the company tries to sugarcoat the facts and no longer brave enough to expose the truth thanks to that cowardly scumbag CEO Bob Iger. During the years of Disney's previous CEO Michael Eisner, the company took many risks and wasn't afraid to do something ambitious and mature while maintaining it's brand and image. It's good to expose the truth and it's bad to hide and never explain about it at all. Don't you agree?
he did you know the buzzy adiotroic is STOLEN
I only remember going here once, on my first trip in 2002. We came back in 2004 and it was closed, but I remember bodywars, cranium command and the making of me fondly. I remember going back in a few years ago during the Food and Wine festival and being really disappointed in what it'd become, all because Disney have an insistence on sponsorship at Epcot, which very clearly has not worked for some time.
Maybe one day we'll see Wonders of Life returned in some form. At this point I'd even be happy if they took the idea of cranium command and turned it into an inside out IP occupying the entire building.
Yeah, it seems like a logical fit but who knows.
2002!! That year we got the robotic version of Body Wars in level 5 of Toonami's "Trapped in Hyperspace" game!! TOM was the host!!
Disney just announced that they're putting a new activity and game area in the pavilion. Wonders of life and any chance of it coming back are officially over
I worked the grand opening of Wonders of Life. I’m also a background person on one of the commercials.
I always look through your content when making these! Didn't know you worked there. That is awesome.
thankyou for tagging all of the channels that you used for the video credits x i am very thankfull of this and it helps a lot when looking for the videos and channels you have mentioned in the video x
Of course, they should get the real credit.
@@ExpeditionThemePark for sure x i agree x its great love all of your videos x keep up the great work x i am a massive fan
Great video. I never knew the archway was moved to the parking entrance. Cant wait fir part 2 of one of my favourite epcot pavilions
Thank you
As always great Video. Thank you for sharing.
These empty and abandoned pavilions remind me of the empty abandoned malls out here in California. Ermahgerd new ending theme music 😊 the footage got me craving Chinese food and Orange Julius!
Now i want Chinese food
Wow this is very old!!! I cant believe it was around until 2007 and i still managed not to experience it!
Oh man I forgot about Sensory Funhouse. That was pretty cool. I remember Coach's Corner, Goofy's videos and the mobile. The less said about The Making of Me the better.
They closed to the pavilion too soon, could've been re-themed to Inside Out.
They don't need to retheme things to IPs. They need original ideas that capture the imagination. That's why people started going to these parks in the first place.
Hooray for more Epcot!
Yay!
They could replaced cranium command with an inside out ride and body wars will become a walle experience
The pictures on the inside of Cranium Command from the past 10 years or so are creepy.
Cool. Can you make The Closed History of ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter?
At least they're doing something with it finally! Hopefully it's something great!!!
1:12 I've Might Go To Epcot At Walt Disney World In Florida One Day. Thanks Mate. X
I never knew this used to be inside there. I am excited for the rumors that it will be a Space Theme restaurant though.
It is going in a new building the other side of spaceship earth! Can't wait
Awesome video as usual!!
Thank you!
i’m not gonna lie, i truly love this channel but i had to take a break from it for a while. i was going through some stuff but i’m happy to say i’m back now as a true dedicated viewer!
Well welcome back!
I remember seeing the building on my latest visit and wondering what it was. Now I know!
Whenever I go to the "Festival Center", I play the Wonders of Life music on my headphones. Imagine walking around while jamming to 'Wild Kids'.
yes very sad. Both "rides" were awesome
Yes more expedition Epcot!!
About time right!
Another great video! Its kinda sad to go there during the festivals, it makes you realize how much Epcot has lost over the years
Thank you! Yeah it is a shell now of the place it used to be.
I want a new Body Wars where Ant-Man and The Wasp go inside Sam Wilson. That is, if they get the Marvel license back.
You guys make some damn good videos!
Great video as always:)
Thank you
Been waiting for this video! Nice!!!
thanks!
And here's me thinking I knew everything about this pavilion. 😂
What did you learn!
@@ExpeditionThemePark That the mobile in the dome moved and about the stuff in the dome beside a restaurant and small theater.
So one of these theaters is where you went inside during your one livestream?
Yeah exactly! I believe that was the making of me, birth theatre
@@ExpeditionThemePark Strange place for handing out chopping boards! 😂
I love this vid bc I really wish i was old enough to experience wonders of life. Can’t wait for the next vid!
Thank you!
You had a good take on this often-beaten path. I would have loved to have visited Wonders.
Thank you
Brilliant as always!
Thanks John!
I wish I could have checked this out. Bummer that Florida is a bit of a trek for me.
Same LMAO 😂. Thanks for the video
Ah! What was with the face at 3:52? I was not expecting that thing to show up.
Awesome!
You are awesome!
I'm vaguely horrified that a portion of my early sexual education came from a Disney World attraction.
But you did learn! Epcot did it’s job ha
*HYENA WITH ATHSMA INTENSIFIES*
Fantastic video been waiting all day long lol still looking for the follow feature button I couldn’t find it on desktop either but I will find it somehow lol
haha, it says join i saw it today finally! :D thanks Joe! Glad you enjoyed it.
Where all I can see is like dislike download share this is driving me nuts !!!!!
I found it !!!!! The iOS app doesn’t give you the option you have to do it on the desktop then it updates give me a bit and you should see it
Extra fun fact. If I'm not mistaken the little girls lifting the barbell at 2:50 are the Walton Sextuplets
You are by far one of my favourite channels on youtoube! I keep wondering how come you don’t have more subs!! Keep on producing that great content man! :)
Thank you!
Sooooooo excited to be a member!!!!!!!!

Oh for sure!!!!! Wouldn’t miss it brother keep up the great work!!! Proud to be a member
But when the attraction closed down it had water links so they had to fix it but I also heard that not only do I fix that but they also fixed buzzy
Yay!! I was waiting for this!!
Hope you liked it!
@@ExpeditionThemePark i cant wait fo more! you do such great work every time!
Wow just remembered doing the pedal thing....
They have a Fuel Rod station inside the building. I had issue with that one today because I entered it to replace it but the machine ate it, so I had to call the number for help. I was actually very tempted to tell the lady it was at the station inside Wonders of Life.
Broken just like the rest of the place!
Yess been waiting for so long
Now you don’t have to ask ha!
Between this, the ORIGINAL/GOOD Imagination Pavilion and of course Horizons being gone ... makes me sad ... .sure even I agree (I got to go one the ride ONCE) Universe of Motion needed a major refresh at the time .. but .... They closed it too soon. I am just picturing how they could use the building as maybe like a tribute to the old Epcot (say some of the things I just mentioned)... I am even glad they are redoing Spaceship Earth but hearing that is going to be down for a LONG time apparently and these pavilions being "gone" ... Futureworld has no appeal anymore ... I will not even get into Commonicore/Innoventions ... for pete sake ... Epcot as a whole was my favorite Disney Park .. (MK a close second)
I think Future Worlds days are numbered.
Isn't Cranium Command fully in-tact, with a spotlight on Buzzy's face? I wish they'd re-open it.
Gotta wait for the next part :D
Me too!
THE BUZZY ROBOT WAS STOLEN
The dome
The ride buildin’
THE SHOW BUILDIN’
AND THE S U P P O R T B U I L D I N ‘
What’s the song playing at the very beginning of the video?
"Celestial Soda Pop" - Ray Lynch
It's kind of sad that now Disney are renovating the place and renaming it to "Play!". What I find really weird about this project is that Both the Body Wars and Cranium Command buildings will remain untouched.
Expedition theme park make a video of the new Epcot😱😱😱
What is that song at the end of the video? I remember hearing this song as a kid, but can't remember its name!
What is the outro song?
E.P.C.O.T means everyone person comes out tired
Was that Celestial Soda Pop in the intro or am I just having a brain aneurysm? :0
what video promoting the wonders of life and other attractions in walt disney world resort in orlando florida?
If rumors are to be believed, all I can say is WAKANDA FOREVER!!
I don't think that is happening.
@@ExpeditionThemePark I don't think it is a terrible idea to turn Future World into the Stark Expo. just not sure how that would work with Universal. It would be a better way to have the old Epcot, but give Marvel a presences and excite people. They could even keep it educational, but with super heroes instead of random 80's future theming. Space ship Earth could still be the same but narrated by Tony Stark. Test Track could be Stark industries cars. Mission Space could be Pym tech. Wakanda could have an embassy. Living Seas could be Stark exploring the oceans, but hints at Namor and Atlantis (those rights are still an issue) Inoventions could be like a hall of armors or movie props. Maybe do an Asgard pavilion.
Then leave World Show case alone just maybe adding one attraction to each land (or finally add Brazil, Russia, Australia,.......)
Epcots is futures past
HELLO

Why does the 1 year anniversary have to be at midnight?
It is 7pm here where i am. I will try move it a little earlier

It wasn't last year so I wouldn't get your hopes up
Hasn't been so far. Not sure yet on next year

Go to the former "Goofy About Health" theater to see a demo on Joffrey's Coffee
I mean......
Does anyone remember Fran and Frank from AnaComical? I can't find any footage save for a bit in one tape.
I didn't find much footage of the show at all
@@ExpeditionThemePark I know, it's so sad. I only saw 10 seconds of it somewhere. It's sad.
The Universe of Energy hasn't been replaced yet either. The only difference is it's been empty for a lot less time. Now you have 2 pavilions on that side of Epcot empty such a shame that Disney ahs ruined what once was a great park.
2 years later that Ellen's Energy Adventure was replaced with Guardians of the Galaxy.
As for Wonders of Life building is in a state of limbo with the Play Pavilion Replacement "if that'll EVER happen at all"
