Are there grants available to purchase rather than renting equipment such as high quality cameras, microphones, laptops, musical instruments, etc... Or are these just simply something that must be purchased out of pocket initially and then written off as business expenses come tax season?
In the arts space there are grants that do allow for a small percentage of your grant to be used for equipment purchases. However, those grants are few and far between. There are business grants that may allow you to purchase equipment but for the most part arts grants don't typically fund equipment purchases.
Sorry for the late reply Lee. The grants I typically speak on are for Canada. That's not to say they aren't available in other parts of the world. I'm currently not accepting any grant work but if you have specific questions I can shoot a vlog so that it can help you and others. Arlomaverick@gmail.com
FACTOR.ca is a great place to start if you're from Canada. Check my latest vlog on Music Industry Associations or MIAs for short. MIAs can inform you of local, provincial and federal grants you can apply for.
@@SHEGO-HARD My bad. Where in the US are you based out of? I know there isn't as much grant funding in the US for music as there is in Canada, but there is some.
As an American, I always cry when I watch these videos and realize the creator is Canadian! Arts funding is so much better there 😭😭😭 great video though, thank you
It's unfortunate that the US doesn't have the grant system that we have here in Canada. It would help a lot of artists who are unsigned. Thank you for your feedback. I would recommend doing a google search. There aren't a lot but there are some out there in America.
@@ArloMaverickif there was another way to contact you. I am a filmmaker (animation) seeking primarily Susistence (sp?) or rental grants. My main focus is my feature.
@@1146g02 I did a quick google search and came across the following: 1) The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities dcarts.dc.gov/service/cah-grants 2) Washington, DC Grant Watch dcarts.dc.gov/page/grant-programs I didn't get a chance to give them a thorough look but from what I see subsistence is not offered. However, I do think the grants are still worth looking into nonetheless to see what is applicable to you.

How much do u charge to write grants
Grant writers typically charge a percentage for grants. I have a lot on my plate right now so I am currently not taking on grant work.
