It's my first time checking the mod out in 1.19.4, and not gonna lie, it feels illegal that the glowstone portal actually works after hearing all these myths going around for several years in the early days of Minecraft and the Aether mod.
if you make it a series, you should include the deep aether addon, as well as the aether: lost content addon. the deep aether addon acts as a nether update for aether, while lost content adds back scrapped or unused content back into the mod. another good addon is aether: gravitation which adds some new tools and weapons
Aether Let's Play mini series perhaps...? It looks like all three levels of dungeon are in the game (bronze, underground with the Slider boss; silver, the floating temple with the Valkyrie boss; and gold, the spherical island with the Sun Spirit boss), so beating one of each could be a good goal for the series

I never played any Minecraft mods. I don't use texture packs, data packs, resource packs, or even shaders. I am 100% vanilla so this is all new to me. Though I have seen a few memes about the Aether of course. Mods for Minecraft just aren't my cup of tea.
You could try some of the smaller or vanilla+ mods that don't add too much game-changing content which could include farming (Farmer's Delight/Pam's Harvestcraft), quality of life changes (quark, backpacks, inventory sorting, mouse tweaks) more building blocks (Architect's Palette, Supplementaries, Chisel/Chipped, etc), or improvements on existing structures (Yung's better structures). Of course you don't have to try mods, but I think they can easily enhance the game while preventing it from feeling too "modded".

I’m not going to lie I once tried to make an aether portal just a couple of years ago and was disappointed when it didn’t work. I did check out the aether mod myself but I gave myself resources in creative and it was laggy as fuck so I stopped playing it. I might play it legitimately now that it’s in a modern version.
it wasnt updated they just added 1.19 support. Unless the creator adds the highlands update it wont be updated. But you NEED to understand the difference between and update and a port. This is a port not an update.
This dimension probably goes against what they plan on adding into the game currently as much of vanilla's focus is still on the overworld and the end (a sort of substitute for a sky biome) is heavily lacking. If they do add a new dimension there's a good chance it'll be related to something in-game right now

Big reason aether was so big, is because back then, minecraft had really really less things to do than it does now. Flying was unheard of back then (no elytra), mobs were stale, ores were the same, there were basically no real bosses etc etc. Aether changed this and gave us flying pigs, new mobs, new items and weapons, packaged in an entire new realm that is made up of floating islands. It made minecraft feel like an entire new game. But now, minecraft had evolved quite abit and added heaps to do and see. So the aether won't seem as crazy, but there is a reason every kid remembers making a glowstone portal and wondering why the water bucket wasnt working
You shouls check out deep aether and aether lost content First one adds new biomes to the aether and the other one adds lost/scrapped content, even a new dungeon is added!

Rebirth of the Night is a very popular modpack that makes heavy use of the Aether. It's 1.12.2, but isn't really that old, and was still getting active updates until late 2022. It's so weird seeing you pretend like the Aether has been gone for so long. You've just ignored the great modpacks that have it!
i'd like to go back into this, with the faded memories unable to be a crutch to me. reexperience the past, but... some things aren't right. elytras cheat how it was done back then, you spawn on clouds but shouldn't, gravity (like in Vanilla) is off the charts in unrealism, etc. maybe one day there will be a few... revamps.
I never played this mod, because it just didn't captivate me enough. Maybe that's because I already was huge into the Lord of the Rings mod, so mods like this just seemed second-rate.

I never checker the mod since when I was youger I saw tons of videos of how to open the portal, but none said it was a mod they were all claiming it to be in the game. The betrayal everytime I tried it and it never worked. So out of spite I never checked the mod out since then.

I have played it before, BUT as a minecraft marketplace version. The Minecraft marketplace version is very fun though!
I wish some sky whales were added to the End Dimension. Man an Aether biome would be so fitting for the End.
