The drinks are so weak now plus you have a hell of a time trying to find a cocktail waitress. When the mobs owned the casino's, the drinks were strong and you had one coming without asking for one. Bring back the mobs !!!

Most people would figure those to be insignificant changes but over time those are MAJOR benefits to the house edge.

A friend of mine was a VP of Player Development at a big casino. Yes, his job was to cater to winners and keep them gambling.
Actually from a security and safety standpoint, it’s a good idea to have at least the cashiers cage away from the front door. Ditto the cash machines.
Surprised that you didn’t mention one of the biggest ones…the lovely smells that they pump in to the casinos.

I'm pretty sure I know a "whale" my co-worker loves Vegas. He easily gambles many multiple thousands when he goes but he also uses it to his favor. He is a top tier ceasers rewards member. They call him every couple months and offer stays in top suites. All he has to do is buy his flight. Limo service from "McCarran" to the concierge up to his super suites. He has got 1000 dollar food comps. So much he can't even eat it all. But then he does state that they bother him after a couple hours just to go gamble. He can't just relax in the room. Sounds amazing and he says the coms balance out what he spends. My reply was. I just don't have that kind of money. It must be nice to have that experience though. See that kind of Vegas service
We have had a free room and some free play for the last 20 years and enjoy every minute of our stay there !! We only bring enough money that we can afford to lose !! Thanks for the vid 😁😁
A great example of easy to get in but difficult to get out was back years ago at Caesar's Palace before the Forum Shops were built, and even after phase 1 was built, when they had a long moving walkway to bring you in from the sidewalk on the strip, but to get out you had to exit at the main center entrance and walk all the way back out to the sidewalk. You could not exit the same way you came in. Now that the Forum Shops extend out to the sidewalk, don't have that situation anymore though.

@@alexhoward9273 Oh yeah, you're correct. 😊 I guess I sort of knew that since it is on their merchandise and advertisements, but I forgot and wrote it the normal expected way. If they wanted it to be plural and imply that every guest is like a caesar, it really should have been caesars' palace. But it is what it is, being caesars palace and caesars entertainment.

That's kind of the way Excaliber is. They have moving sidewalks, but as I recall the outgoing sidewalk is always broke.
Check Ceasars mall. You cannot go direct to the sidewalk door. You have to walk round & round & round until you finally reach the door.
It forced customers to walk past every store.

Last 20yrs I haven't had to pay for either. I only stay downtown, just because I like the convenience of being able to walk to each casino.

Sure you have PAID for it all.......by your losses in the casino. anybody that has 20 yrs+ of "comped" stuff is a guaranteed loser over that period of time. I'm guessing at least $3500 - $5000/day of your trip if you were getting comped $500/day. But it was "fun" right?

I noticed that the Boulder Stations entrance doors were easier to push open than to exit.
Am subscribed and even hit the like button. I like to play table games. Drinking and gambling don't mix. One time I was playing at a craps table and some guy came the table. He as he was setting up his spot he leaned over the craps table and threw up everything in his stomach. The Boxman already cut him off from drinking some more.
Interesting Video, I would even say that these tactics to “reel you in” could arguably apply to all businesses and, practically everything you will pay money for when you’re in Las Vegas, Bar, Restaurants, Hotel/Resorts, Strip Clubs, etc. They all have their unique Money Magnets.
Also about the Alcohol, I’ll admit that after having a couple of drinks I have, went to speak to a female who I thought was attractive, spoken with other random people, went to other places such as restaurants and other bars which I would’ve held off otherwise, and even when I feel that I don’t look visually drunk, others must see something that they’ll talk to me after a while or bartenders will use their tactics so that I spend more money.

I get comped free rooms. It helps since it costs me around $350 just for the flight (I live in Massachusetts). I go for the shows, gambling (Poker, slots and Keno on the machines), and the sites. Lots of beautiful women all dressed to kill. Love it all in Vegas. I don't dine at the fancy restaurants - too expensive. But there are plenty of relatively cheap eats if you look for them.
Vegas is a place built from the ground up with one purpose - to separate people from their money in any and every way imaginable. A place where you have to look at everyone with raised eyebrow because it’s about that, and filled with sketchy people. A soulless lonely place though millions rotate in and out non stop. A place the desert goat runs wild.

I had a friend who was an ""Events Planner"" at the MGM and he had a list as others did in there office's and they called the whales, movie stars, manufacturing moguls, sports people. With there names, came a budget window of what the MGM WAS TO PUT OUT, Unknown to them and a complete profile of the whales special dates to get these people to take the party offer to get 100- or, of there friends, family and design the event to there liking, with hopes of a big gambling loss. It didn't always work as they expected, but the casino always has the odds, it set up that way.

50% of the visitors fly into Vegas. The flyin visitors are trapped on the Strip. The casino bosses know this and jack the prices for food thru the roof.
The owners of casino properties have designed the public infrastructure, such as side walks and over passes, around their properties so it is easier to walk from one of their casinos to another one that they manage. They make it difficult to walk to a competitor's casino even though it is next door or just across the street where there is no convenient cross walk.

Most restaurants and eateries around the casino floor don’t have washrooms, you have to leave the restaurant to another area where the washrooms are, of course passing many machines.
My biggest comp freebie was 3 nights at a high suite ..at Venetian plus $600 free play, plus $200 food credit.

The only thing that will get me in a casino, is a decent blackjack game. Las Vegas as very few decent blackjack games today.
I know you touched on music and the different genres of music they'll play but what about the scent that they'll have pumping in them? Not sure that all Vegas casinos do this still but I know at the Hard Rock Casinos in Florida they have a specific scent in the air that just keeps people there. It might be there to drown out the smoke for those casinos that still do allow smoking inside, either way it has kept me inside a few times longer than I wanted.

You should have used the clip from The Mentalist S01E06 “Red Handed”. Their case-of-the-week was a murdered casino exec and Patrick Jane (the main character) says almost all these points when they get to the casino. That episode came out back in 2008. The clip is on UA-cam under the title “Casino Scene The Mentalists Clips - S1E06”

Well a lot of people think they have to stay in the casino after they receive their drink. Not true ifcyou get your drink and want to go somewhere else. It's OK to carry your drink with you on the side walks of the strip.

Love the channel sir. A local casino in Tunica Mississippi has "Random" drawings on Friday and Saturday nights and they call the same 6 "Whales" for EVERY DRAWING. In fact come to think about it one Old Whale is nicknamed "Mary Dean Whales". Not really but you get the point. Another thing their "canned music" is predominantly WHITE People music during the Day and BLACK People music at Night. So Comical because BOTH Music SUCKS!

We were at the race track in October for NASCAR and never even stepped foot in a casino. We’ve been going since 2005 and we usually do. We had already bought our tickets in February for the championship so we didn’t really need to make any more pets. Honestly I didn’t miss it
