English fish and chips, are unique. such a fantastic taste, specially, by the seafront with friends or family. Eating it in the open, sitting outside on bench or any possible seat. Even in the countryside, you can eat fish and chips in Norfolk. that's undeniably is so great. Apart, interesting video Tim.
Another great video Tim, I have lots of good memories of visiting Scarborough as a child, I particularly enjoyed your live there the other day. Your videos always make me happy :)
I used to live in Scarborough, the tap water sometimes has an unusual taste that you can taste in hot drinks. You get used to it after a while. Thanks for your vlogs, I always watch
@@2ndchancehypnotherapy We live in York now. Water tastes much better (or perhaps we are just used to it). Visited Canada a few years ago, preferred the West to the East but all lovely. We drank water from a glacier - amazing.
I moved to Scarborough a few months back and I witnessed a customer in one chip shop get told off because she wanted her salt on before the vinegar. The owner of the shop informed her “we do it properly here which means the vinegar goes on first so the salt sticks to it otherwise the vinegar just washes the salt away. Only mentioning that because I saw you put salt on first 😂 at least your milk went in second in your brew 😂
We enjoy Mother Hubbards on Westborough. North Bay chippy down near Peasholm Park is another favourite, although there is no eating in, just take them across the road and enjoy them sitting in the park.

I've visited the Fish pan a few times but I'm more of a sausage and chips guy so my go to chippy in Scarborough is the Anchor, chips, sausage and batter are always on point, barely a hint of grease in sight! The Fish pan is one of Scarborough's classics.
my favourite fish and chips in Scarborough is the Leeds fisheries just up of the seafront towards town and yes i do understand about the after taste thats usually when thy use beef dripping in with the oil
I haven’t been to Scarborough for years but always stayed at the Raincliffe on valley road, the best chips by far was a little backstreet chippy on Royal Avenue. Advised by my local friends to go there instead of the seafront. I enjoy my chips out of the paper, though do appreciate a slice of lemon squeezed over the fish.
8:13 As kids we used to holiday at a place on Trinity Rd and every night we'd walk back from town/beach via this chippy (think it was Royal Crescent Lane)and get supper. First place i ever had curry sauce and battered pinapple rings. Its closed now i think. Found another small backstreet chippy some time ago, Small Fry on North St. So much better than the seafront shops. 8:13
Not had fish and chips in Scarborough before but I do like a little unknown chippy in Whitby called riverside fisheries down near parkol shipbuilders. There chips are fantastic. My local chippy though in ingoldmells village is my favourite, The Old Copper kettle. If anyone is on holiday here and want some nice fish and chips make a special walk down to the village and use that one. It’s much better than the rubbish they serve up on the seafront… great video Tim keep it up….

You should try the Anstruther fish bar. Meant to be the best fish and chips in Scotland. Homemade tartare sauce as well! Some Scotland videos would be awesome. ❤️
I so agree with you about the after taste of chips or potatoes , to me they taste sweet, lovely !! I find cod is a dry fish, Basa is moist , but not sure if you can get it in a Fish & Chip shop. People staring at me would put me off my food LOL. Best chips are from a chippy !

Tim the creamy after taste is the beef dripping the chips are fried in. Most chippies cook in palm oil but in Yorkshire and the east coast dripping is used a lot.

Not bad for the price you paid, shame that you didn't enjoy the fish or peas that much. Those chips did look good though, and I agree with you on the creamy aftertaste, I like that too, but it would have to be ketchup on them for me. Great view of the beach through the window, thanks Tim 😀

Hi Tim I enjoy an after taste with Chips if I go to a fish and chip restaurant and last week myself and my husband went to one in Broadway in the Cotswolds where we were on holiday and I had Cod with no batter as I can't have gluten my meal along with the chips was excellent except they didn't have mushy peas ( minted peas) which we both weren't keen on my husband enjoyed his cod in batter .We also enjoyed a nice mug of tea.I loved the view of the seafront you had.
Hi Tim, fish looked decent enough but yep, I guess I had to taste it. Chips too big for me personally and it's gotta be curry sauce not mushy peas imho. Anyway, best fish and chips take away in the UK is the Mermaid in Barmouth (you may have been there, can't remember) and sit-down or take away - The Shed, Porthgain. I go to both every year and have never found better. Cheers mate!
I'm more of a Haddock guy, with skin on. If you are ever around Hull I would recommend Pollards Plaice, Holderness Road. Family owned chippie, they buy their fish every couple of days from the fish market in Grimsby and it's on your plate the same day. I'm not from Hull, I'm in York, but I don't mind a bit of a drive for exceptional fish & chips.
I think when you get fish and chips you put your salt on then Wash it off with your vinegar, i think its best to put vinegar on then salt as it then sticks to vinegar, give it a try.
I usually do salt and vinegar (the amount of both is officially LOADS) and then shove the peas half over the fish and half over the chips-never bother with tatar sauce or ketchup unless on leftover chips-after the fish and peas are finished
I would be one of the starers Tim, only because I would be thinking, that's Tim over there, do I say hi? 😊 I like the Wackers Fish and chip restaurant in the town centre, or I did last time I went. You are in my old stomping ground there! I go visit the fam from time to time. 🙂
Tim you are so funny. This is not a Michelin star restaurant!!! Love your reviews though as these are places I probably wouldn’t go to!!! This channel will just keep growing as it’s real and good fun to watch.
Like your honesty with the fish and chips, Tim. It did look nice though. That "creamy taste" 😄, it's got to linger afterwards! Well done for holding your nerve in a busy plaice (sorry...place!)
I feel you on the awkwardness, we are still getting used to it. Shame the tartar was in packets. What an advert for Scarborough though, looked gorgeous.
tbh the take away bit at The Fish Pan can be a bit hit and miss, but the restaurant is pretty great. I usually head for the Lifeboat fish bar for F & C if I'm wandering around.
we were on holiday last week - Friday night we went for a pub tea - wife had fish and chips and I thought "no way - it will be rank in a pub" so I went for a rump steak served rare. Sadly the chef seemed to be unaware that he should be able to serve a rare steak that was warm and edible - sent it back and of course it came back well done.......................... meanwhile you guessed it her fish and chips were banging. Nice thick and juicy piece of cod in crispy batter and great chips. I must start listening to the boss before I order lol
LOL. they probably wondering who the heck you are talking too . Great Vid .Cheers Tim 👍 You should be on T.V. so professional . And how many T.V. presenters can do a great job of editing ( i know its not that easy from my own experience).
Hello Tim 😊 When I was younger I did like fish &chips sitting at the seaside in paper 😋But now on a plate 😋. If I was in a cafe and seen you with your camera I would know what you were doing cos I watch UA-cam videos 😄Your going to get people who have no internet what's so ever 🙄The chips look tasty 👍👍👍
Best fish n chips you can get,is without batter on the fish lush!!.Trouble is most chippies won’t cook it for you because you can see really how small the fish is. A few years ago I asked for it on the alleged famous Paignton pier chippy I was told we can’t fry it without batter, which surprised me when a small chippy in Donnington Lincolnshire can. Back to Paignton all batter/ little fish. Just a comment Tim no reflection on your vid always brill as ever.
I completely agree with you on the chip after taste! I always say it to my partner but he doesn’t get it 😂 another great vid, I’m off to Scarborough for a week in a caravan in April - can’t wait to check a few places out
Hi Tim. Are you going to show more South West destinations? Can I Recommend Exmouth in East Devon and while you are there you must try the "famous" battered chips from Krispies Fish and Chip shop. All the best.

Like your honesty with the fish and chips, Tim. It did look nice though. That "creamy taste" 😄, it's got to linger afterwards! Well done for holding your nerve in a busy plaice (sorry...place!)
lol
I feel you on the awkwardness, we are still getting used to it. Shame the tartar was in packets. What an advert for Scarborough though, looked gorgeous.
Really enjoyed this Fish & Chip review Tim from Scarborough!
Made me feel very hungry I can almost smell Fish & Chips. Yummy!😋😀
Tim, that looked nice hope your feeling better?
Yes, thanks
tbh the take away bit at The Fish Pan can be a bit hit and miss, but the restaurant is pretty great. I usually head for the Lifeboat fish bar for F & C if I'm wandering around.
When are you doing a great yarmouth or lowestoft chip shop or have I missed them.😊
Very soon!
@WalkWithMeTim Great 👍🐟🍟 looking forward to that.does thumps like chips.??
Hard to believe its the last hurrah of summer, seeing has its been raining for the duration of July and August
Lol I'm weather terms I guess
Our favourite in Scarborough has to be The Golden Grid, beautiful fish and chips and positioned on the sea front 👍👍👍
we were on holiday last week - Friday night we went for a pub tea - wife had fish and chips and I thought "no way - it will be rank in a pub" so I went for a rump steak served rare.
Great Vid .Cheers Tim 👍
You should be on T.V. so professional . And how many T.V. presenters can do a great job of editing ( i know its not that easy from my own experience).
I was salivating Tim, that too is my pet hate 'sticky' condiments! 🥴
lol
Golden Grid is my personal favourite. It's incredible
put salt and vinigar and a bit of pepper on bland mushy peas , makes all the difference i find !
We never liked Papa’s as well. The mushy peas tasted funny. We always go to Mother Hubbards at the top of the town. Always lovely F@C.❤️❤️
I completely agree with you on the chip after taste! I always say it to my partner but he doesn’t get it 😂 another great vid, I’m off to Scarborough for a week in a caravan in April - can’t wait to check a few places out
Thank you!! 😁
If you're ever around Chapel St Leonards near Mablethorpe, head for the Marina Fish and Chip shop. Best fish and chips that I've ever had! 🤤😋
Thanks for the tips!
Hi Tim. Are you going to show more South West destinations? Can I Recommend Exmouth in East Devon and while you are there you must try the "famous" battered chips from Krispies Fish and Chip shop. All the best.
That’s the one we where recommended too greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Winking willies a bit further up is nice
The Lifeboat fish and chips in Scarborough are some of the best fish and chips I've had. Crispy batter and well cooked chips worth the try
