I see why the Heian era was the golden age, because Sukuna whether intentional or not is forcing these sorcerers to grow and achieve incredible feats.
It feels like sukuna is intentionally creating opportunities for Yuji do grow in strength
It’s interesting either he just wants to see how much fun he can have by creating stronger and stronger sorcerers or he is seeing who can grow to their max potential in order to prep them for something far stronger than even Sukuna himself.

Honestly at this point Higarumas potential is probably the highest in the series. He learned rct on the fly like gojo after gojo had been a sorcerer for years, had the six eyes, and had to be pushed to the very brink of death for it. Granted rct was gojos like 1 natural weak spot, but still pretty impressive

Yuji is probably the center point of the merger. HE is the optimization of CE. Having a body that can cage sukuna and destroy cursed objects and absorb their abilities is something beyond jujustu we are used to seeing. I believe kenjaku has been creating yuji for past 1000 years. Yuji's experimentation helped kenjaku learn how to have multiple techniques(I might be wrong on this since this might be one of kenjaku's CT abilities). I belive the reason yuji is this way is because kenjaku used multiple DNA lienage factors of different sorcerers to create one cursed object(yuji) that can not only surpass the likes of gojo or sukuna, but usher in a new level of optimizated CE.
I also don't think it's coincidence that kenjaku chose yuji's mother and the itadori family. Maybe there is something about the itadori family that was needed to complete yuji.
Yuji is the frankinstein of jjk.
That’s what I been saying Kenny is making yuji the merger he wants to make a transcendent being. I saw another theory that kenjaku is a religious zealot from his mannerisms to his domain hand sign what a better way to serve a Devine being than by bringing them into the world. My crackpot theory is that jjk will end like fireforce with yuji becoming a god like being able to manipulate all CE and will basically create a new reality full on new universe where CE doesn’t exist.
I love the Frankenstein theory because If the merger happens and yujo is merged into the biggest curse ever he Will Just be a New sukuna, what If this os what happened to sukuna, he was trying to Merge and used himself as a vessel to achieve his actual state

Higuruma’s best case scenario:
The executioner’s sword is summoned to kill Sukuna, so as long Sukuna is alive, Higuruma will be in a suspended death. Similar to Megumi when he summoned Mohoraga.
Shoko is on the battlefield, she healed Yuji, and now maybe she’s healing Higuruma, while Sukuna is busy with Yuji.
The trial is not a ritual... But damn... U might be right...

I think what sukuna is trying to say is that being a strong sorcerer isn't about time, it's about your reaction to that kind of necessity. Where is learn DA or die, learn rct or die, become proficient in reinforcement or die. Either you get stronger and do what you need to or you die.

Let me give my explanation for why sukuna treats yuji like that.
I believe this has something to do with Sukuna's early days, he was treated the same way because "maybe" yuji is Sukuna more like the same person.
You know Kenjaku is unstable so what he was like "what if we have another Sukuna".

That would make sense, if we consider this fight as a parallel with Yuji's fight against Mahito (especially with paralleling Higuruma-Nanami moment). With him saying, "I'm you." That would make the clash between Yuji and Sukuna full circle
Yeah I always got the feeling that when sukuna calls Yuji boring he is talking to someone else from his past. Maybe it’s his younger self or a sibling.
Yuji is probably the Twin Sukuna "ate" or something alike; the guy through whom he gained "Demonhood"/the Title "King of Curses".
Yuji and Sukuna look fairly similar, Sukunas "historical background story" on which he is based on, speaks about a pair of Twins basically.
He earlier stated "Oh, that's that boy from back then" (or something along the lines) when he was surprised why Yuji is actually so sturdy and said something like "Kenjaku, you're a weirdo" - Due to him knowing that Kenjaku basically created Yuji.
Also, while it seems like it Sukuna never really went full out "I'll kill you know Yuji." - I mean, the Twins e.g., he simply decapitated them. Sure, Megumi made him put out less curse energy in the last fight with Yuji, but he simply mocked Yuji and didn't let his Sidekick just kill him.
That in addition to his overall "polar opposite" attitude toward Yuji hints, imo, in the direction of "Well, he reminds me of the one person I actually kinda regrett killing but also not but also I do"-Trope.
Furthermore, like Gojo and Sukuna were in some parts polar opposites (Endless Talent and nurturing Probably hard work & sacrifice, helping all so you dont have to be alone on top anymore helping nobody because loneliness on the top is the right of the strong), Yuji und Sukuna are - obviously - similar positioned.
They are basically "Ying/Yang". Doesn't mean only "Good vs Evil" - Simply means two different, opposing views.
I mean, overall in short; Sukuna doesn't play with Yuji really since their last fight but also he doesn't simply kills him - he kinda even avoids him to some extend. That in addition to the historical legend he's based on, hints towards a "Twin Situation".

What if, similar to Sukuna's ability to effortlessly grasp techniques after witnessing them once, Yuji, infused with Sukuna's cursed energy in his core, could also acquire knowledge and skills by experiencing them firsthand or through soul exchange? It's just a theory though.

I think this is most people's idea. I mean even gojo said something similar right. So the more complicated the CT the longer he has to soak in the energy. Yuji is an empty vessel...meaning he should be able to store abilities🤔

For me , Sukuna maybe know Yuuji potential since he once in his body and saw how Yuuji didnt use it to full potential unlike maki and others.

Yuji hates itadori because he’s the human side of him before he turned into what he is now and 1000 years ago when he cast that aside to gain greater power and understanding of jujitsu is the reason he loathes yuji. The moments he has being internally impressed by yuji is his doubts for a second that maybe or the what if he stayed on the other path. This is also the reason yuji wants a “good death” because it’s a human emotion to want to die verse the opposite of sukuna wanting to live forever to keep growing stronger. Also a “good death” due to it being careless to throw your humanity aside for power…

This is my main issue with the manga overall and is why I’ve personally lost interest in really keeping up with it. From a writing perspective, you can only kill off so many characters so many times before the shock value wears off and people start really questioning why you’re doing that. Like I’m not saying the manga is bad or anything nor am I saying people aren’t allowed to like it but just personally I just don’t find it appealing anymore.

Okay the yuji soul swapping ability is kinda confirmed at some level but we don’t fully know the extent but it seems this allows him to learn others cursed techniques, but what could be more interesting is yuji attempting to soul swap with sukuna allowing megumi’s escape for megumi to use mahoraga as a retribution ultimately killing yuji in the process because gege is planning to be the grinch and ruining the holidays for everybody

Is it possible that Yuji learned RCT through black flash ? I think Yuji used it more than previous sorcerers (his fight w Hanami), and he’s the first to use it at will (his fight w Mahito). I think it was said that w every black flash, you learn more about the core of cursed energy.

I like how sukuna says "your okay at best" . bros got high af standards. what these guys are doing is basically beating their one rep max by 40 lbs on the fly, and he is still not satisfied. Also his mentality is odd, doesnt seem like he wants an even fight, if you kill high potential ppl before they reach it then you'll never get a true challenge. Unless what sukuna is looking for is someone who reaches his level during his fight with them right on the spot.
Higuruma has been my favourite character since his introduction, so I can't say I'm not upset about his death. But this was pretty much what he wanted, and he was able to fulfil his role by handing the executioner sword to Yuji before he died so it's not all bad. I was really hoping he'd make it to the end and realise that it's okay for him not to throw his life away, but things were already looking pretty grim for him starting from a couple chapters ago.
If so, his power would resemble the mc from Charlotte which would really be op af
There is another theory going around about Yuji healing. That his soul manipulation is much more than just switching bodies, and that he can regenerate by manipulating his soul like Mahito could.

in the final pages it was stated that curses become stronger after death so I think yuji has become a curse
I cant be the only person who thinks the hand stab is beyond stupid. If sukuna could react in time to cut off his hand before getting stabbed by the executioners sword then why not just move your hand out of the way. Pretty sure Yuji switched with Higurama and he healed Yuji’s wounds. That means Higuruma himself is in Yuji and is the one about to attack Sukuna.

If we can even say that Sukuna could have some "trauma"(I know it's bad word to describe it) or deep down hatred for person from heian era that yuji reminded him of, It may be some reason why sukuna is so stuck on "You're boring", "you're nothing special" Or maybe more like Sukuna is antithesis to Yuji worldview. I genuinely think the body swapping is Kusakabe cursed technique. I know he touted to be strong in spite of a lack of a cursed technique, but it could also be that his CT is completely useless combat wise.

About Yuji learning RCT in particular, I think this would be the most natural powerup for him, even more so than him learning Cleave & Dismantle. Because Sukuna used RCT while in Yuji's body a lot, so Gege could make it so that either Yuji's body naturally remembers that feeling and does it automatically when Yuji is unconscious (Possibly what happened when Sukuna put a supposed "hole" in him punching him when he took over Megumi) or Yuji learns it due to all the hints/feelings that he remembers consciously from remembering everything Sukuna did while inside of him.
You could even argue this would be more of a natural powerup for him than him getting Blood Manipulation, because his body already experienced actively using RCT (through Sukuna) whereas he would need to learn Blood Manipulation from scratch. So I don't think we need a stretch where he swapped bodies with Shoko to learn RCT when he already has a very valid way of learning RCT
