I love how you don't just upload games where you get thousands of damage and 15 kills, but actually show what average games in vehicles look like. Thank you.
Anyone can make themselves look good by uploading their best games when everything goes well. You, on the other hand, are one of the WOT players I watch consistently for the commentary and the rapid-fire decision making even when you're NOT having good games, because you're still thinking smart and thinking and reacting really damn fast to the flow of the battle. It's a skill I wish I had more of.
Like that you covered a lower tier tank, especially a tank that is fairly common to run in to in Random battles. Perhaps running a series of the most popular T5 -T7 tanks?
That's exactly what I wanted to ask for. T5-T7 are the moment in this game where people actually learn to play and some guides showing real gameplay not like 12kills battles would be useful.
Agreed! Need more CC's showing solid mid-tier play instead of T8 and above Ace Tanker replays. The high-tier stuff is cool to watch, but lots more players need the middle tier stuff to learn from, ME INCLUDED :)
I have both the 85M and Cromwell B... If you put the same good crew on 85M... it will be even better than Cromwell B... the biggest drawback of Cromwell is the bloody bloom... it's so ridiculous... compare the soft stats of both on tanks.gg and you will know... I love both the tanks... but 85M is way way better hands down...
@@baronvonlimbourgh1716 there is a lot more H.E. being chucked about these days. I still do pretty well in this but I have a 3 skill crew in it. The new Italian and Polish tanks seem to have good H.E. damage especially.
I don't like the gun handling on Crom. If i had to choose tier 6 med i would rather pick T-34-85M. If i need fast tank, i would pick obviously Type 64.
I personally dont like the 85M, because i relay on its fake armour too much... And I dont like the Type JUST BECAUSE OF ITS SPEED. But I never liked the Cromwell, and after revisiting it I kinda start to like the thing.
The 85M is bs strong, but the regular 85 is excellent and so is the chinese knockoff Type 58. But my favourite T6 med will forever be the Porsche Panther.
Your play style is way different than me in my Crommie. I am completely setup for active/passive spotting and I use my speed and fire rate to ambush enemy then escape. Thanks for the video :)
This review was really helpful. Mostly because you struggled with it. The Cromwell was/is a really fun tank and can be an absolute monster in the right situation, but most of the time you get stuck in situations like those two games. You really showcased the reality of the current meta. I also find it very helpful to see how you react when the situation isn't favorable. I learn far more from these replays than from watching you seal-club your way through a field of potatoes. Thanks LR.
Hi LemmingRush ! Thx for this review but as an expert Cromwell player (more than 10k battles combined with Crom b and Crom), i think i have to give you my opinion on your review. I almost agree with you in regards of the games you had. But the key factor with this tank is the crew. I agree with your play style because of the bad crew you have but... I wouldn't if you had a very skilled crew (I got 8 crew skill so far ;-P). With a good crew you view range becomes more than OP and you can often out spot light tanks because of the good camo (with the camo perk) of this tank. So my advice to be usefull for the team with Cromwell if you're bottom tier : look for assisting damages. That's the best way to get 3 marks on this tank. Anyway I hope you'll have fun on the battlefield with it ! And happy new year !
This is why my British Medium crew tends to live in my Cromwell B. The Cromwell was fun during the grind (a time of a different meta for sure), BUT taking a break from whichever Centurion I'm grinding to throw the crew into the Cromwell B made it even more fun and demonstrated just how much impact crews can have on these tanks.
Most people new to the tank won't have great crews in this. It is still just a tier 6 tank and the crew gets moved over to the comet when grinding the line. And if people decide to keep it it will get a fresh crew again.
Yeah, play style can change a LOT with better crew, and his video show how to play bad crew very well. With a good crew this tank is a autoaim-circle-of-death MONSTER, on top of being a very good versatile tank
I'm grinding through the KV 2 now, my 2nd most hated tank to play in and play against. It does stupid things like that yes, then the next battle it does NOTHING. Total RNG tank. HATE IT
The Cromwell's biggest nerf was map and physics changes however it is still a vehicle that when on the other team should not be left fo it's own devices.
Considering Cromwell's mobility and view range - you can use it to cosplay an active scout, to certain extent, since Brits doesn't have any l.t.'s of higher tier.
Hi LR, Thanks for that Cromwell video-usual class act watching you play any tank! I do not tend to play much anymore below Tier 7. I always fit binoculars to all my tanks, especially if the crew have at least 3 skills or more, as the added view range helps when you play "point" and you have a decent gun on your tank :)
Great review Lemming! FYI the HV stands for High Velocity, another advantage the Cromwell has. With a good crew I bush snipe all the time. It is a great tank to perma track tier 8 heavies at mid range.
Thanks for this, Lemming! I'm currently working the Matilda on my way up the British Mediums so I'm really glad to have the extra info on the Crommie. I think it's great that you did a mid-tier tank and hope you'll do more like this.
hey Lemming, great review and love your videos. Btw what mod are you using to show you end game statistics such as wn8, moe progress etc WITHOUT having xvm (I hate xvm)?
This tank gets a lot better with a good crew. I have a 1st gen Crom B with lots of SH battles on the crew, and the tank is spectacular. The gun handling will always suck balls, but circle strafing doesn't need long range accuracy and I think it's what the Crom was meant to do.
What I appreciated about this review was being reminded to divide the game into phases, and that tanks like this do better toward the end of games... especially when low tier.
Lemmingrush, I would argue that the driver in the Cromwell is as important as the gunner and loader, as the one thing the Cromwell has over most other tier 6 meds is it's mobility. The gun handling on it is not too flash, so can totally understand the need for the 100% gunner and loader.
Loved the review as I own a Cromwell and got my butt handed to me in a few battles. You are spot on about this tank - has the armor of egg shells. Thanks for a great vid!
Actually since cromwell was reliable on clan wars I love having on him both ramming perk and spall liner, because ramming for ex. Type 64 with 60kph and 28 tonnes will deal around 450 dmg while taking about 40-60, so you can basically one-shot most of the t6 light tanks and some of the mediums :D something worth considering. It also brings a lot of fun in playing this tank.
Thanks for a well done review. I like my Cromwell and still play it on occasion. I find the rate of fire to be absolutely amazing. I love the description of it as a glass cannon. That is so true.
LR, thanks for the videos! You never actually applied a skill to the gunner and loader. What skill would you choose first? What about the other crew members, which skill would you start out with? Love your content! Thanks again!!
Now now... Cromwell is my fave tier6 standard med by far, i love the mobility and the gun (yes the gun handling is terrible but once you fully aim your first like with T57H its all good). The best way to play this vehicle (unless you are top tier in 3-5-7 MMwith no troll-gun HT/MT) is play the first half of the game as you were playing a bottom/mid tier LT. Get to a position, scout for teammates, dont fire if its too risky, relocate a lot around the map and pay attention to where enemies are likely to appear next and punish them with side/rear shots and then go hunt for arty/pick up low HP targets with your dpm and mobility and you can trade a lot of your (possibly full) HP. currently 1.8% from 3 MOE on this thing xD
And for retraining u could also retrain the crew for 20k each and then reset the skill for another 20k each to give up some exp from skill to getting the crew to 100%
Great review and sorry if you have answered this before. Do you recommend the same setup for the Tier 6 Panther, VK 30.02 M? It seems to fit same idea from your review of crom.
75mm Vickers HV = High Velocity. It was too big to be fitted to the Crom in real life, but would have produced twice the muzzle energy. Its the in-game reasoning behind the higher velocity and damage compared to other contemporary 75mm weapons.
I am almost done grinding the Cromwell but this video put a lot of my own experience with it in perspective. When u have a new meta with EBR’s and still enter low tier, a few f bombs drop anyhow! Ha
Lemming, would you consider an equipment suggestion for your Cromwell? I just started running a new set up that saved the tank for me, I no longer hate the thing.
Nice and informative video, good stuff as usual. Thnx. Only suggestion i would make to add to this video is the crew skills as u progress. The Cromwell (and its gun handling) can benefit alot from skills like offroad driving (whats it called? smooth ride, or something). I’m curious to hear what your ideal crew setup, with like 4-5 skills, would be on the cromwell.
Hey lemming. I watch your videos all the time and they really help me learn gameplay styles for the tanks I’m playing and really improves my gameplay. I was wondering if you could upload a video of you playing the max 50 120 hard o find a good video on that tank.
Used to be one of my all time favorites. The CromB came out and was just a little bit better by having a lower ground pressure which made it quicker and more maneuverable. Like you're saying, I don't think it fits the meta very well anymore.
I used to play this tank a lot but hardly ever over the last two years. I can not remember it being this difficult to play, just shows how the game has moved on. Another tank that falls into this category and was in your second game is the Comet. Does anyone play that tank these days. I'd like to hear your views and see some game play with the Comet. Cheers
Nice! I still prefer the T34-85, its the Hellcat killer-bouncer. Specially since I got the M version with same DPM as Cromwell. Between both, the T3485 is a little slower, but it totally worth it! Instead of increase visibility I prefer to increase DPM to the max, but its a good point what you are saying
That's why i like the Strv 74 more than the cromwell. The rof is lower (4s reload vs 3.3) but it's generally more reliable. It also does much better when you have to push a bit like you did in the first replay, on that you would have hit 1-2 shots on the sherman while closing in unless RNG screwed you over big time. It isn't as fast granted so you can't do the ludicrous bullshit i did years ago like tooning with T8s and bully T10 HTs in a T6 medium loaded full APCR with food, and it's sorta worse in a knife fight in that you will hit much more often but also will have a harder time outmaneuvring the enemy tank(s). The other big thing is the 15 deg of depression, i realise that thing can create flanking avenues in the middle of a brawl firing from angles i never thought were even remotely possible. And it looks cuter with the alien head turret
I only started liking the cromwell when i was close to getting a comet and ended up selling it to get credits for the comet and an extra garage slot. Luckly i had a bunch of good games(by my standard) in it even when stock. So in the end a good investment.
I maxed out the Cromwell not sure if I want to go to the comet, just the grind on the Cromwell was painful always being bottom tier, however now that it’s got all the good equipment and sixth sense it’s tolerable.
Just got into this tank a few days ago and noticed a few things (even tho total noob with less than 1k games). Stock engine is so bad. Everyone in game expects you to be a race rocket, so get that 400>600hp engine upgrade asap. It's fire rate is already pretty good so I dont feel like rammer is a good ROI- instead i've found vents to be better as it gives a boost all round to everything inc aiming. Same with Binoc's- they are ok for getting forward fast and getting initial spots, but after that you are most likely on the move and remain useless a bit. I like to get forward, get into bush (as I have 3x cammo skills and cammo net - coz cheap) with coated optics and 89% eagle eye/74% situational have 423 view range and 37% cammo unbushed. Can often catch scouts/mediums crossing open terrain, as I am not spotting them until they have push out of cover a little, but remaining undetected. Take 1 shot and BTFO, relocate into a support position for the main push, or potentially replace out light scout in a pinch if they get exploded, as I have coated optics and OK speed and ridge poke. Can snipe in a pinch at 0.34, not reliably, but not horribly either. All round, this tank is really good providing you dont get clicked, which is why I think cammo is a massive help. 21.2% on the move cammo is pretty sweet when relocating.
Chimonakimi comet with a good crew absolutely shreds. 12 degrees of gun depression, and tier 9 DPM. Sure it’s slower the the crom, and the pen can feel inadequate at bottom tier, but it’s def one of the better tier 7 mediums. I’ve got 98% marks of excellence which tells me a lot of the WOT community feels the same as you. It’s a flexibly tank that can really work ridges and hills, and it’s mobile enough to control engagements with its massive rate of fire.
What? Comet is a beast....At T.B Squad getting 3 marks of Excellence in a Comet is amazing. The Comet rewards high skill play and you must be very good. I have 2 MOE and a 55% WR on a 3 skill crew. The gun on the Comet is amazing DPM wise, the Mantlet is also pretty good...for me the Comet is a terror tank, people literally panic when you get with 50m, and you just strip their HP, they know once you are in a knife fight with a Comet you will likely lose. If you manage to break through the enemy line they are doomed, race for the arty neutralise it and then mop up.
@@ZZPxFTW I rarely have to face it unless it's running or I am, but yes I would think the DPM is what allows it to dictate among the high alpha meds(I didn't say Russian meds because tbh Italian and polish are op in my opinion gun wise)
good to show tank reviews when you not just top tier not just uploading a great game that a lot of tubers post , well done ! PS Lemming WG actually get more from your posts than most not that you know it but yup.
This type of video is the closest we may ever get to the good old hourlong videos we used to love by our gnomelord. Now all you have to do is train yourself a british-scottish accent, an historylesson in Worldwar 2 tank combats and a strange habbit on rating tanks by their "sexyness" xD
I liked the Cromwell but the Vk 30.01d is so much better for me. U have the speed, better gun handling, and can bounce some shots but best of all u can run circles around the enemies and piss them off and get the kills.
cromwell it's still very popular. i'm running it constantly at >99% MoE and i'm just a green xvm player (lots of players playing bad that allow me to be top 1% without being a pro at this game)
Thanks, these not perfect gameplays with your "life" comments are very educational. And as a tank review it is also a good one. I just bought a AMX CDC and your review was the one that made me buy it. Half the reviews were, it is good, the others, it is bad. So I was in doubt. You told it is good for a good player en your gameplay showed that. I am a bad player but I wanted a fast tank with good gun depression and not much armor because I most play super HT's and rely to much on armor. I want to learn to be better in light armored tanks. I do terrible in the CDC but I had a few games that make me feel it will get better. And it is fun to drive around and ambush "lost" tanks. It has bizar climbing capabilities, where my HT's crawl and almost stall, this tank keeps accelerating.
Hey Lemming, thank you very much for the awesome content you put out! Do you regularly stream on Twitch? If so, what is your schedule? I would love to catch you.
hello there i am a cromwell and i noticed that you were almost having fun i can not let you do that as i am a cromwell and all cromwells don't know the concepts of fun and balance
Can you do a video on the VK 30.01P? it's my favourite tier 6 and IMO the best allrounder medium: good speed, good alpha, good view range and decent armor. I would love to know what you think of this tank!!!
Just remember, becoming Unicum is a combination of actual skill, map awareness, positioning, gold spamming to negate bad RNG, and potentially driving an overpowered tank if you feel like it.
I think it's standard xvm (or yasenkrasen). I know i get the same statistics and i don't use any modpack, just standard xvm, core yasencrasen and a few others not related to statistics.
For anybody still wondering, I've found the mod. It may not be the exact mod, but it looks the same and is well maintained for every patch. A link to download it is on this forum page: forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/572771-1301-session-statistics-and-battle-result-messages/

I've never seen this map. I play on a PS4, in the States. Are there different maps, based on your location and your platform?
I play this thing with bonded optics, vents and gun rammer with 4 crew skills on each member.
Cromvel is one of my favorite tanks.he is good, dpm is too good, but t 34 85m is the broken.he is the best one.
My most played tank when i started out watching your videos i started to manage to diversify. I have more than 1150 games in it
That's why i like the Strv 74 more than the cromwell.
I thought the gun being derpy was just me. This should help me with my bromwell x5 missions
I thought this was a war thunder video, clearly I stumbled onto a pre schoolers toy game
Now review the Comet. :>
I absolutely detest that tank.
It’s a flexibly tank that can really work ridges and hills, and it’s mobile enough to control engagements with its massive rate of fire.
will try it
I agree! I think it has the WORST stock grind in the game
@@ZZPxFTW
I rarely have to face it unless it's running or I am, but yes I would think the DPM is what allows it to dictate among the high alpha meds(I didn't say Russian meds because tbh Italian and polish are op in my opinion gun wise)
good to show tank reviews when you not just top tier not just uploading a great game that a lot of tubers post , well done !
PS Lemming WG actually get more from your posts than most not that you know it but yup.
Can you do Strv 74 next?
Tier 10 gun handling in a Tier 6 vehicle.
shout out from Dublin Eire .
Happy new year and tks for the great content last year ,
id like to see you review the SkorpG and the T50/2
WTF - Cromwell is now a Tier 9 (IX) tank?
@Lemmingrush did you get a new mic? You sound better than before.
This type of video is the closest we may ever get to the good old hourlong videos we used to love by our gnomelord. Now all you have to do is train yourself a british-scottish accent, an historylesson in Worldwar 2 tank combats and a strange habbit on rating tanks by their "sexyness" xD
What happened? Did mwj get cancelled?
Is mwj a Wot UA-camr i've never heard about? o.O
Surprised you ignored the driver for the training considering mobility is so important
9:59 - Mediums with fast-loading derps are really hard to play! :V
A spall liner mitigates a LOT of dmg from those HE rounds.
This is way better than cherrypicked games!
Which session stats mod are you using by the way?
Can you do a video on the VK 30.01P? it's my favourite tier 6 and IMO the best allrounder medium: good speed, good alpha, good view range and decent armor. I would love to know what you think of this tank!!!
Just remember, becoming Unicum is a combination of actual skill, map awareness, positioning, gold spamming to negate bad RNG, and potentially driving an overpowered tank if you feel like it.
Really nice and relevant video for us average players, thanks!!!
With a 100% crew, shots are VERY accurate.
crew training was beneficial.
still a good tank, i kinda like the A43 with the 57mm.
I do the same with crew trainjng although i go for the gunner and commander.
But when we can have 445m view range everytime, we must use the optiques ?
what many people dont know about this tank is that you get shredded by every derp gun D:
Met you at H&M today. Subbed!
Haha hi! It was cool meeting you!
Nice vid, used to be my favourite tank. Not anymore gun nerfed, t34 85m two shot is now top tier 6 playing tier 8 tanks all the time no fun
Is that a statistics mod you're running, or is it a secret button in the game?
XVM mod.
Does anyone know what mod/modpack he is using to get the WN8 and MoE statistics on the endplates?
I‘m also waiting for an answer
I think it's standard xvm (or yasenkrasen). I know i get the same statistics and i don't use any modpack, just standard xvm, core yasencrasen and a few others not related to statistics.
For anybody still wondering, I've found the mod. It may not be the exact mod, but it looks the same and is well maintained for every patch. A link to download it is on this forum page: forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/572771-1301-session-statistics-and-battle-result-messages/
There's also Awful Tanker's mod:

@@Solanis awful tank work thanks to you
VK3001D the best tier 6 Med Tank!
Lemming, why dont you use bonds for the sixt sense?
I love the Cromwell i marked 3 stripes on it in 2 weeks
