Keeping with the Borat theme, none of the music in this video is actually Kazakh. It is Polish and Balkan music taken from the brilliant 'Traditional Music Channel'.

Sacha Baron Cohen would have been excellent, bringing more of the real & funny side of Freddie. After he left n 2013, over creative differences with the (non-actor Brian), they considered Ben Whishaw from 2013 - 2016; never giving him a contract & in 2016 announced that Rami, who did a great job, would play Freddie.
The fact that Borat got a second movie, but Ali G never did, makes me really sad
Such is very underrated actor, whatever he did on Borat2 was really risky and hard since people already knew the character and he pushed it all the way 😂😂😂

I actually watched the subsequent film in class about two weeks ago... we laughed historically throughout the majority of the film! Little did we know at the time it was a direct sequel to the original theatrical film back in 2006. I for one - needs to watch the original film yet!

So the fist 'version' was Moldovan...both movies were filmed in Romania (village scenes) as well as the early 2000s clips. Bit of a pattern there 😅🇷🇴

Great factual history on borat right here! 2nd movie wasn’t what the first one was but still pushing barriers and well needed in this time. Rudy’s appearence however was the reason why i had to watch the whole thing and it was defo worth it😂😂
Early skits and first movie was just amazing. Borat 2 was nothing short of a political plot to Sashas liking and misses all the greatness. It's cheesy, predictable and rarely naturally funny, as well as scripted many times.

Borat 2 is brilliant. Yes, Borat 1 will forever be iconic (and in my opinion, better) but Borat 2 and it's timing couldn't be better.

People are spoiled nowadays. It´s trendy to dislike everything.
It´s hard for sequels to surpass the originals. You have to keep the spirit of the original but to give more “wow”. The only one that I can remember did that was Fury Road. Mad Max, but more of it, much more.
Borat 2 was as good as Borat 1.

You guys remember the "Horse is like man" skit from Da Ali G show? You can tell the second he thinks that skit would be a good idea at 2:05-2:10 lmao. That clip was legendary in my childhood, it felt like I laughed for 20 straight minutes at that skit. Each comparison of horse to human just made me laugh even more. Ahh, I need to find that proto Borat skit. Where did you find the full thing? I need to see the origins of my childhood favorite

I think Since Cohen didn't want to do this himself, I think he was forced or did it for money that drive in him that made the first one Good isn't there . It's not worth it. He should have just left it with the first one and instead do something else new. This could even be his downfall. The first one was fresh but this.
I think you're right in some ways. Baron Cohen's recent projects, like The Brothers Grimsby, haven't been as successful as his older stuff. That might be part of the motivation. Thanks for the comment.

You can't expect the 1st brilliant piece of work, to be followed by a better 2nd or 3rd piece of work...It's never as good as the first. Just enjoy it for what it is...The second Borat was very funny & enjoyable; worth seeing!

When I was 11 years old (20 years ago) some of my albanian friends whose cousins were legit in the albanian mafia, dealing drugs and stealing shit, told me that before Sacha was doing Borat he was doing another character that was basically Borat just had a different name. Christo as he was called then said he was albanian. And he friend claimed, remember that this was 20 years ago, that they beat up some tv host that was putting a bad name on albanians pretending they were dumb and threatened him to never do it again, just when Borat was starting to become famous.

The impoverished villagers where told they would be fiming a documentary. The filmakers then gave them a bunch of fake guns and talked about them being immoral, rapists, etc. They were essentially humiliated for the amusment of people around the world.
Booo hoo, let me play a song on the world's smallest violin. Many of them literally act like low-lifes in that documentary, not any problem about Borat. Borat is not humiliating them but "Kazakhstan".
