    In the 3 years I've lived in this bus, this will be the first time I've ever tried to do it alone, which is already difficult enough. To make matters worse, I'm doing it just as the worst of central Oregon Winter is crashing down. This is one of the hardest challenges I've ever faced.

    Ladies that’s why it’s important to learn and be independent never count on your partner to do everything. I’ve seen this way too many where the woman is left alone not knowing anything and the Spouse is gone.

      There are some guys that can be pretty helpless when their wives are gone. (I'm not one of those guys.)
      They screw up their clothes, they can't cook so the only way they can feed themselves...is drive-thru or delivery, maybe bologna sandwiches...if it's already in the fridge. Men need to learn stuff too.

    You never know what you can do until you're forced to do it. My husband was in the armed forces and one of our duty assignments was Ft. Wainwright, Alaska. I'd never lived anyplace that cold or desolate. And it seemed like my spouse was always getting sent somewhere warm to train--Ft. Irwin, California or Hawaii or Guam. I spent my 40th birthday (which is in early February) alone in Alaska. I hated it, but I did it.

    I just found your channel and subscribed. I am glad you made it okay. We have the exact opposite problem. We live in Southern Florida full time and have a Class A diesel pusher to vacation in. We were getting all set for hurricane Debby when someone got excited and drove into a power pole the day before the storm. It was 94 degrees outside and we lost power for 5 1/2 hours. Once the interior of the house reached 80 degrees we were so glad we had the motorhome and are able to store it at the house. We started our onboard generator and turned on all three rooftop air conditioners. Within 20 minutes we were relaxing in comfort. This was the first hurricane we have stayed home for, but my wife was getting ready for cancer surgery so we didn't want to leave. The surgery went fantastic! We couldn't be happier.

    When the shore power does go out. I would think you would have a backup generator of some kind just to have a backup power source. I know people don't like using them anymore if there's no sun for the solar it would keep your batteries charged. Specially in them harsh conditions

  • @hotrodpc66
    @hotrodpc66 8 місяців тому

    You made it. So your situation is exactly why I intend to keep my factory bus heating system. I fully intend to keep the heater core and fan assembly in the back of the bus and incorporate it into my build and build a closet over it and then put a vent screen over the front of that spot so that when the fans come on, it pushes the hot air out that vent into the hallway of the bus. Also, while the bus is idling for 30 minutes to an hour to heat the bus up, I intend to have a DC to DC charger so while it's running, it's also charging the batteries killing 2 birds with 1 stone as an emergency back up system. Also plan on a small generator as another emergency back up source of power to at least run the diesel heater since it takes minimal power, a light or 2 and also be charging the batteries. Basically having 2 back up systems, either running the bus engine for factory coolant heat and battery charging, or generator for back up power and charging the batteries. You do have 3 different sources or heat which is a very smart move. Certainly a great and well planned build and since the factory heat is deleted, I'd just add a small quiet generator. Maybe a HF Predator Invertor Gen, or a dual fuel gas/propane inverter generator. Ohhh, I noticed Archie was more excited to see dad than you were. I'd have been offended. LMAO Great video !!!

  • @LilRedRasta
    @LilRedRasta Рік тому

    This is why portable power stations are a valuable thing to have. They could easily charge a separate heater and your other electric appliances in a pinch. And some of them will stay charged if you run your engine. But you could easily buy one that will last days. You just need to find a place to charge them.

    If I had a van or bus, I for sure have a winter mode where I could let the inside get to freezing. I can sleep just fine in that, so everything just needs to not break.
