    It’s a good thing that Nick is so mechanically inclined. After just having a knee replacement, I have come to the conclusion that doctors are mechanics at heart. Taking things apart and putting them back together. I am grateful for their ingenuity. So glad that you’ve had a peaceful sail.

      @@Plantandpeoplecarer You do not have an alternator. Disconnecting an alternator from the battery bis likely to terminally damage it. Most boat owners know the danger of switching off their diesel engine, you push the stop button first and only switch it off when the engine has stopped.

    If one screw backed out , maybe you should have all the other screwed set in lock tite. The last thing you want is another screw backing out and ruin a bat car and that time you might not get the sail down when you need too. I am surprise when they set the track to begin with that the track screws where not set with locktite.

    Wonder why cruisers worried about anchor drag don't put out second anchor, when one starts dragging at point second one becomes taut, dragging ceases. An anchor with about a boat length of chain and 150 feet rope may be easier to handle. Not a perfect solution but has enabled worry free sleep.

    • @jackwickman2403
      @jackwickman2403 5 місяців тому

      Rope anchor rodes in reef areas often get cut by the sharp coral. Using a float at the chain to rope connection just big enough to hold 5 to 10 feet of chain up off the bottom and floating polypropylene rope to stay above the coral can work but it's a pain. Polypropylene rope is very low stretch and so doesn't cushion wave surges like nylon does.

    It's very strange that so much gel coat and other debris has ended up in your fresh water system. Any ideas on how it all go in there in the first place?

    • @DeepThought9999
      @DeepThought9999 5 місяців тому +1

      If they have an unfiltered or defective rainwater capture system leading to their main water storage, debris could have been captured any time since the construction of the boat. Gelcoat being captured suggests to me contamination occurred at the construction facility or somewhere else where gelcoat is being worked-on nearby. Or maybe RR2 has some gelcoat damage somewhere. But I could be wrong, of course, since I know nothing. Just taking a guess.
