    Video Overview:
This video is an in depth review of everything I do to grow my hair long and strong and fix my hair from hard water damage, heat damage, and color damage. Because I have blonde hair, I bleach my hair a few times a year which is very damaging to the hair. I also live in an apartment with no water softener, so the hard water damages and dries out my hair leading to breakage and brassiness. I talk through all of the things I did on my hair growth journey to heal my hair damage like, strengthening and hydrating shampoos and conditioner sets (Pureology, Olaplex, Function of Beauty), lengthening and strengthening Hair Oils (The Ordinary Marula Oil & The Ordinary Moroccan Oil), hydrating and repairing Hair Masks (Kristen Ess Fragrance Free, Function of Beauty), and a lot of miscellaneous tips and tricks that helped protect my hair from split ends, breakage, and damage like microfiber towels, the wet brush, sleeping in scrunchies, hard water shower filters & sleeping on satin pillow cases. If you want to learn how to grow long hair quickly, this is the perfect video for you. Olaplex Shampoo and Conditioner Reviews.

For years I avoided Olaplex bc the cost scared me and I’ve always believed in more natural haircare. But ever since I’ve used bleach nothing has helped me maintain and/or grow my hair like Olaplex has. It’s a game changer.

A few things that actually helped to control my hairfall include: (1) I discontinued wearing ponytails because it leds to tension breakage. (2) I began massaging my scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while leaning forward & holding my head upside down to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Protecting my head while moving out to safeguard my hair from pollution. (4) Using soft shampoo again from liittleextra only to cleanse my hair.

I know this is an old video, but for anyone else who watches this 18 months later and wonders:
Satin is a weave style while silk is a fiber. So you can have satin in a bunch of different materials (i.e. silk blends, polyester, nylon, etc). I think since silk is a natural material it is more absorbent than some synthetic materials, so satin fabrics made with those synthetic materials will be less absorbent than satin made with silk. I don't know that it's enough to make a noticeable difference since silk already is much less absorbent than something like cotton (silk is moisture-wicking and temperature regulating). I find silk to be more breathable than satin made with synthetic material. Silk is also hypoallergenic and antimicrobial. Satin made with synthetic material is often much cheaper than silk and you don't have to worry about getting synthetic material satin falsely advertised as silk. Silk also crinkles and wrinkles easier than synthetic material satin, so there are definitely pros and cons for both.
I use a silk pillowcase and a synthetic material satin bonnet (BUT, if it's not double lined, make sure you wear it inside out if you go satin. Satin will have a shiny side and a dull side, it's the shiny side you want touching your hair but they always make synthetic material satin with the dull side on the inside for aesthetics). I toss and turn so much at night that I also wear my hair in a loose braid (secured with a silk scrunchie) and then tucked up in my bonnet Often times my bonnet falls off at night from my movements, and if my hair is just loose in the bonnet it will become so knotted the times my bonnet falls off.

I live in Scotland and all our water comes from the mountain run off (obv treated and filtered through). The water is so natural and clean, no chemicals, and my hair literally flows like silk after washing it!! When I stay over night in the city and use the water there, I instantly recognised the difference. Hair feels more like straw after cleaning on hard water. Ew.

I'm definitely one of those people who feel like it would be impossible to not wash my hair daily, so hearing your story makes me feel encouraged to try at least going every other day. I toss and turn in my sleep and get huge knots in my hair so I always feel like I have to keep it much shorter, I tried wearing hair ties at first, and it made my scalp go numb so maybe scrunchies won't do that. Thanks so much for this video! It was extremely helpful. :)

Also important to use a super grabby bristle brush like boar bristle and works even better if u hit the area with a little low heat to loosen it up, think about the difference between room temp solid pastey coconut oil and when it warm and turns to liquid.

Hey girl! This is one of the best videos I've seen!
I'm 63, not ready to give up my waist length blonde hair and swimming anytime soon.
...my waist length thin ends and mids just keeps breaking off. ...This particular video has really helped me sort out what to do!
I love the microfiber towel and wet brush pro suggestion.
...also, I was set on buying olaplex , and you gave me an affordable option with Pureology.
I'm going to mix and match.
...Oh yea! and the satin pillow is a must! so much has improved by that alone in the past 1 year I've used one.
... I've also found great success with the ordinary argaline, matryxl and caffeine drops along with their retinoid drops have made me at least 40 again!
...even had a couple guys in their 20s ask me out LOL yes!
    Merry Christmas 2022!

I actually grew my hair long and donated 18 inches of it to a company that makes wigs for children with cancer. She is absolutely right. Not shampooing your hair really does help increase the length of your hair. But because I am a hijabi (muslim woman who covers her hair for modesty), it was easier for me to train my hair since nobody sees my hair outside. But for the women who dont cover their hair can wear a wig while training their hair. I hope the tip helps.

Thank you for bringing up the fact that silk is more absorbent than satin! A lot of people seem to think silk is better because it's more expensive. All it does is absorb oils and moisturizing products from our skin and hair. I love my satin pillowcase.

Satin is a type of weave, not an actual fiber (like silk or cotton for example). As a former fiber artist, I know that you can weave any fiber into a satin (loosely spun silk makes the best satin in my opinion)

I grew my hair from collarbone length to past my elbows. It took a long time, but I cut out using heat appliances on my hair and stopped going to the salon. My guy got me a wide tooth comb, and I use that to comb out my hair after a shower, I don’t use a brush on my wet hair as that causes breakage. I use the same type of towel as you, I have a yellow and aqua color one. The other thing that helped keep my hair in good shape was my guy gave me micro trims every ten weeks. He did the full sectioning and let my hair down in 1/2” increments to trim each layer to remove split/damaged ends to reduce breakage. The amount that he took off was barely noticeable. He was fully supportive of my long hair journey, unlike the scissor happy stylists that just want to cut. A friend of mine who is a hairdresser stopped over to visit when I was getting my ends trimmed and watched intently. She commented that he wasn’t taking off very much and that my hair is so thick that it needs to be thinned out. I was very happy that it was my guy doing my hair and not my friend the hairdresser. My guy would never use a razor or thinning shears on my hair. Here is how he does my trims. m.ua-cam.com/video/7ixwCfku3fY/v-deo.html
I use olive and argan oils on my hair and I wear my hair in different braids. I have my hubby give me French, Dutch, fishtail, side, wraparound, three and four strand braids. I get compliments on my hair in the different braids and people ask how I do them. So it does take time and effort to grow long, beautiful hair, but I am definitely a long haired lady and I have no plans to ever cut my hair off, and If I ever did, my guy would talk me down from it rather than grab the shears and cut it all off.

    • @kerihatgirl8990
      @kerihatgirl8990 2 роки тому

When he was giving me a trim the first time, I told him that I had wanted to grow my hair long but it wouldn’t. I had wanted to grow it to my knees, but when it got to wear I was beginning to sit on it, I told him to cut it to my elbows. He did as I asked, and when I saw how much was coming off, I got upset, but it was exactly what I asked for. Women can decide for themselves that they want long hair, and usually it is other women that are jealous of it, and try to use the excuse that you only have long hair because of your husband.

I dyed my hair extremely light for my wedding back in October & I have been trying to get it stronger & healthier on top of attempting to get some length. My mother-in-law trims it for me , not as often as I’d like but I’m going to have her for it every 4-6 weeks. My natural color/growth is about mid way down my hair. The length is to my bra strap, so I’m hoping these tips will help with my hair 😅😅

Tip from when I went to dermatologist for the problem with the oily hair: wash your hair for 2 weeks straight with only water everyday, massage your scalp gently and then dry it and massage your scalp with a towel (dont use a normal towel cause its very damaging, use a soft towel or even paper towels), the massaging will absorb all the sebuum and oils. During this 2 weeks dont use nothing on your hair other than water (and the towels ofc). My hair was getting greasy really quick and after this treatment it completely changed and i could wash my hair once a week without problems

I used to do that, although I would saturate my hair root to tip in coconut oil, and leave it all in for a week. At night I would wrap my hair up in a silk scarf, putting it up, wrapped around all of my hair. I know, that is gross, but it worked for me, especially since I was single at the time, and no body had to see my stringy, greasy coconut oil covered hair, lol! You don't have to do this, but it REALLY made my hair healthier, and a million times shinier after I washed all the oil out--I would shampoo my hair twice like her as well. Maybe you could find a similar trick as me, but one that would not leave your hair stringy and greasy like mine was from the coconut oil--maybe just using a deep conditioner that you can spray on the hair, like she says, doing that daily or every other day. Anyway, that's my spiel. Hope this helos. :)

I finally started shampooing twice and it’s absolutely great…my hair feels lighter, fluffier and bouncier and my scalp is no longer itchy, or getting the little bumps on it that I was getting. Also, I always rinse at the end with water mixed with apple cider vinegar and it keeps my hair so soft and frizz free, love it! My hair is just collar bone length but I do have highlights so I have to treat it very gently. Moroccanoil smoothing lotion is my holy grail. I’m using Pacificas Pineapple Curls shampoo and conditioner and I really don’t even need to deep condition all the time like I used to but Amika makes great masks as do the Macadamia line. Fantastic. I sleep on a satin pillowcase and use a turbie twist to dry after washing. I’m hoping to finally get my hair down to my breasts and I really think I’ll get there eventually…finally!

I’m on the same boat as you. I went from brown to blonde and experienced so much breakage!! Everything you said in this video are things that I have been doing for a while now and I have one suggestion. Get yourself a satin haircap to sleep in at night time! I used to do buns with scrunchies and I would still have to brush my hair in the morning because it tangled. With the hair cap, I brush my hair before I put it on and wake up and it feels EXACTLY the same, no tangles at all!! Really changed the game and it’s super comfortable. Also a great hair mask with all natural ingredients is Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque w/ Sea Kelp and Argan Oil

I am 61 and from the South. So, I went to Charm School (yes, yes I did - I still have the book!). We were taught to lather twice, so that is what I have always done. I have never washed my hair everyday. For many years, I washed every couple of days, and for the past decade or more, I've been washing once a week. Sometimes I will wash twice a week, usually in the summer when it's very hot. Second day hair are always my best hair days! I also do a weekly hair mask. Sunday is my self care day and I will put it on early in the day, put on a shower cap, and wrap it in a warm towel. At a minimum I leave on for 30 minutes, but I try to leave it on for several hours. I make my own masks, mixing different oils depending on what my hair needs. Recently, I started doing a monthly scalp scrub. It has made a huge difference in the overall health of my scalp and hair. Lastly, as part of my nightly routine, I give myself a 5 minute scalp massage. I somethings use hair growth serums, but mostly it's just a "dry" massage.

Hi Abbey. I love your videos - you are so beautiful and well spoken. I also feel like you are so genuine and I appreciate your honest reviews. I would love to see photos of your hair how it used to look and how far you have come in your hair journey. Mine is so horribly damaged from all over bleach. I've had to cut it above my shoulders and into short layers to remove all the breakage and damage. I've also had to go much darker which, for a girl who was platinum blonde, is hard to take - I hate how it looks right now but I know it will heal. Since watching one of your previous videos I have started using Pureology shampoos and conditioner. I am using the hydrate one and the blonde one for when I need to tone it a little. I have already seen a big difference in my hair, much softer and stronger. I live in South Florida where it is always hot and humid and I'm quite active and sweat so much so I do need wash my hair twice a week. I have found that the Moroccan Oil Cleansing Conditioner has been great for that in between wash. I just use that and condition and then use a leave-in and let it air dry. Then I do a true wash on the weekend. I can't wait to try the hair oils on the night before that wash. I think that will really help. Also, I swear by the satin pillowcases - they are awesome!

I purchased the Pureology Strength Building brand after watching this video months ago. I love it. It’s the best stuff I’ve ever used. On a side note: A warning about Loreal’s 8 second “Wonder Water”. It worked beautifully the first time I used it, but shortly thereafter caused extreme brittleness, leading to hair breakage. Apparently, many people have experienced the same devastating result.
