***** thanks. About a year or two ago I started drawing anatomy and have bought a book Jim lee recommended actually by George bridgeman. I'm more confident in my drawing abilities, but Jim lee made me question how far behind I am to where I want to be
Bollox Magee Well the man's been drawing for over 30 years. I'm sure that experience plays a major role. He's probably drawn every conceivable pose and just has the muscle memory for it at this point.
how can he draw like this...it's not even about drawing anymore...he uses his pencil and ink and creates these master pieces! to be so amazing like this you have to understand so many concepts of the art world light, perspective, the human body, foreshortening :D Jim Lee is truly one in a million, this is my 20ths video watching how he does things online..this is so beautiful how he just did batman like that....hands down so amazing..
I think a lot of it was cut out to make the video shorter, but he still draws so quickly. I'm much slower when it comes to to ink or permanent utensils, else I'll ruin my work :P
i gotta say, the way that jim lee draws makes most other comic artists (besides greg capullo or jock) look like they graduated from a graphic arts studio, with jim lee as their fucking teacher!!!! i mean everyone copies his style!
I see Jim doing these "sketches" all the time. He does them reasonably fast. Why doesn't he just do a short stand alone story one of these days? I mean I know he does monthly stuff, but I wish he would just take a break from that, knock out a few stand alone(s) or annuals with just his pencils/inks/and washes. I would pay to see a book done like that. In fact I'd rather see a book like that than most collaborative efforts being published today. Great job and thanks for sharing.
Frankly you don't know if it's mine, no more than I know the work you showed is yours. Really you can believe what you want, I'm doing this for my own ego, because I know it's mine, I know it's old, and I know what I can actually do, which is better than what I'll show you. Wait a week, I have a speech to give today, a date to go on after that, and another speech Wednesday. I'll go to my storage unit Thursday and take some pictures of whatever is laying around, all of which is over 2 years old.
Rebirthing57 try Bristol board and the pages are measured out to 11 x17 your gutters should start at 10 x 15 and you work within those boundaries the do make comic Bristol board with blue non reproductive ink on it to give you the perfect preset measurements most art stores and craft stores have it thats India ink inking is done with nibs and brushes the more popular most artist today use a pocket brush it's a marker brush hybrid you can find disposable or refillable version all of these products can be purchased online
This was taken right up front by a bystander in a convention. You don't get to make conditions like those on times like that. There are lots of people. Getting this close is more than enough. I hope you read the description next time and add a bit of common sense. Thanks. :)
Also as I stated, it's obvious you don't know the technical aspects of drawing based on what you typed. To even think to compare Jim Lee technically speaking to Ross or Quitely is literally absurd. You can like Jim Lee more because you love his style, splash pages, and over all tone, but technically speaking he is nowhere near Quitley, much less Ross.
Frank Quitely is very different and miles ahead of Jim Lee, so is Alex Ross. There are many artists far better than Jim Lee. Don't get me wrong i like a lot of Jim Lee's work, he even does my favorite Batman, but he isn't the best.
I'm an artist; and Jim lee makes me feel like I literally don't deserve to be called an artist

Me too.
that would be my single greatest possession, and i have 4 kids.....
My dream has always been to become a comic book artist, but after seeing this I have given up. It's no use to even try
White - Pentel Presto! Jumbo Correction Pen, Fine Point
Black - Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph Ultradraw Waterproof Ink
Holeee fuckelsticks he makes it look like a walk in the park
i think i just became a fangirl => '-'
me too. greg capullo draws the second best batman
Seeing how this video is heavily edited it probably took him much longer than that.
Like, you know, FOUR minutes.
Frankly you don't know if it's mine, no more than I know the work you showed is yours. I want to see the skipped parts ;_;
Any chance you have the (full?) video without time lapses?
I would like just say: AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGG!!!!
Why you cut on the brush part? That's the most interesting part!
Could someone gently tell me what kind of paint - the black one, the darkest - He uses for making the details of the shadow? Thank You! :)
This was drawn for charity.
Hi, does anyone know what material does he use to paint the white parts, and what kind of ink for the black parts!?
more this
according to Jim...Lee
alguien podria decirme que herramientas usa para dibujar
Seconded!
That black ink looks like a ROTRING or STAEDTLER brand just looking on the bottle.
Be nice if youd give some details about what this was done for etc. For those who care its on ebay for auction now lol
que tintasy que papel usó?
upload some greg capullo and david finch :)
Is that acrylic paint?
any idea what ink he uses???
Is that paint or ink? Does it work on every type of paper? When I draw comics I use simple printer paper.
Cool.

its nice - I do wonder how much of it is "just" muscle memory though
OOOUUUFFFFFF..... !!!!!!!!!!! ( No comment ).
Do u know how much he usually charges for sketches at cons?
disturbing noise
bad camera angle at the begining
hope these problem will be solved
Thanks.
:)
You are a jackass.

MD. Shefaur Rahman Shakil Do you even know who jim lee is?
I wonder how much it cost
what did he use to make those white spots?
Bryan Entac Sometimes he uses Pentel Whiteout, but in this case it appears to be white gouache.
iv used tipex once haha I was desperate let's just say
should more often drawing wholes bodies
If you wanna be the best artist in the world you would have to trace Jim Lee's drawings.
meh he should have said that jim draw a superman and batman fighting it would be cool
sweet piece, must've cost a grip!
A blackberry in 2012?

wtf is with that pencil
