Dead Rising's story centers on Frank West, a photojournalist who ends up trapped in a shopping mall in the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado, that is infested with zombies. Frank must defend himself from zombie attacks, rescue survivors, contend with crazed psychopaths, and stay alive while still attempting to uncover the truth behind the incident.
The original game came out in 2006, so this is an improvement in visuals. As always we used relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes to create a fluid cinematic experience. We hope you enjoy!

I don't understand why people complain so much about graphics. If you loved dead rising on the 360 and wii, you should love it just as much on the ps4 and xbox one. Graphics don't make a game great, it's the gameplay, story, and characters that make it worth playing.

The story is really really well written and the dialogue is actually very good for a game that focusses so much on fun and comedic gameplay

What I like about Dead Rising is its the only zombie video game franchise where the military arent completely incompetant idiots against zombies (with exception of those two special forces members who managed to get themselves killed by Jessica).

Those are gameplay elements to make the game fun. There are still relatable qualities about Frank. He’s an everyday man. Doesn’t look like your typical action hero. He’s not perfect.

These cut scenes have something no other game does, it really feels like a movie or it just feels more cinematic or nostalgic. Old games did something with cutscenes new games never could.
I could be biased here, but I feel like part of the art direction that games like these had back then was due in part to the graphical limitations. But they made up for it immensely with great music choice, dynamic camera angles and movement, and top notch voice acting.
Nowadays, you have next-gen near photorealistic graphics but many games lack the same flavor of camera movement that older games did.

This game was a technical marvel for its time, even today it outshines certain engines.
Without a doubt. I remember picking up DR1 back in 2007 and it was well ahead of its time.. For a game released in 2006, it still holds up in 2020 and it even trumps some of the newer DR titles.

Only technical marvel the game had in for it was that it could host so many zombie npcs in a single area. The timed missions were a good change of theme too.
Still a great game though.
It truly is a technical marvel. Went back into it on the Steam Deck and still impressed at how many Zombies can be processed on screen with very little to no slowdown at all. Still a gem of a zombie horror action game and one of the first titles I beat on the XBOX 360.
@@KentuckyFriedJohansson it has pretty detailed environments and good lighting and reflections for an early af 360 game, and has pretty smooth 30 fps. Only downside is loading
The game is awesome. Frank voice actor, classic music in battle and simple stories

After killing the patriarch Roger Hall, I don't think either son would just walk to the Security Room. Roger must be put down, so there's no way you can convert them from evildoing.

This is one of the few games which has almost perfect dialogues; not too realistic neither too dramatic, in perfect balance of both style. Kinda weird way to describe it, but still. Amazing game really XD

I rember when this came out my freind said his brother got it so we snatched the copy and played it all night and we're blown away by the story we were like 12 at the time. Those were the days when the 360 was king and these games looked so cutting edge.

One thing I like about the first game compared to the others is that it feels like you're encouraged to avoid hordes of zombies.
Maybe it's just me, but in the first game, it feels like you're more prone to getting grabbed.

This scene in particular I remember sparked so much outrage in the comments, people were saying how much they despised this woman, risking everyone's lives just to save her dog who wasn't even being attacked and appeared to be just fine, my god the things they wanted to do to this old lady, I can't really say I blame them, I mean, a dozen lives is worth more than one.
I remember thinking this was the best looking game I'd ever seen and how much freedom you had. The commercial for this game reeled me in.

I remember I got this game for Christmas the the same year It came out I was 6 yrs old and I had no Idea how to follow along with the story or the missions so I just wondered around killing zombies and psychopaths but as I got older I got the hang of It and have beaten the Damn game like God knows how many times

I remember asking my cousin how the zombies got into the mall as we neared the scene with the old lady. He then stated it was because she wanted to get her dog out of there. But to this day there’s a question I asked that we both never knew the answer to. And that question is

Since in the cutscenes the zombies don't see the dog at all so they may just like human flesh
But at the same time dead rising for the Wii chop till you drop featured zombie poodles as enemies
Considering it's a port of the original but with new content it's hard to say

I never thought about this, but maybe the old lady was actually the first pshycopath in the game, probably the reason why she was able to shrug off those two guys and cause the whole game to happen. The game's director did say that the loss of a loved one will cause a person to go crazy and will wreak havoc on others.

Started playing this again for old time’s sake and I never realised how annoying the special forces are in this along with the cultists. The cultists kamikaze you and can literally take all your shit by knocking you out with that spray and the special forces follow you endlessly in the area and do a shit ton of damage if they get too close. Overall though, I’ll always adore this game for the memories that it gave me.
