  • This set of videos explains the WHY and HOW of the Parelli Saddle Revolution. You'll hear Pat and Linda Parelli talk about philosophy, concept and methodology for the benefit of your horse and horsemanship. You'll see Linda give us plenty of detailed explanations about how to saddle up (English or Western), make best use of the Theraflex Saddle Pad and Shims for maximum benefit based on your horse's back shape, and give you guidance in case you need to trouble shoot problems.
    Don't miss the IMPORTANT VIDEO footage showing how horses' backs move (several shaped backs at walk, trot and canter gaits) and why it is so important to accommodate what happens UNDER the saddle if you want to enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship with your horse!

    I find it amazing that the basics of the western saddle has not changed over the last hundred or so years.

    Linda, watched you at Ca expo with Pat for 20 years and I just learned something you do from the right side. Pat and your young cowboy. Must be a big cowboy towering over you

    thanks, i'm really glad to have learned this. especially since i was wanting to get a western saddle and for the new horse and would probably have struggled and gotten really frustrated otherwise :)

    Very interesting technique, I've never heard anyone describe it as "flying" your saddle. I will definitely keep this in mind for next time :)

    "Is it important to go both ways?"
    Yes - whatever you do on one side, do on the other.

    It's not a stupid question. Many people put the saddle pad on first so when you "slide" the saddle up the pad would slip off. when you throw the saddle the pad wont slip off
    (plus the momentum of a throw helps get the saddle alllll the way to the horses back)

    If you're first putting that tack on the the seat? The horse will not be getting hit in the knee opposite your swing!

    I'm not trying to hate I have learned a couple of things from this video, but I would teach that girl how to lunge that horse!! She couldn't keep the horse moving and was letting the horse control her! I have a horse that used to be like that when my dad lunged him. Then, I asked my dad if I could try and I kept him going by clucking to him and swing the end of the lunge line to make him go. Now that horse respects me and does whatever I want him to do just because I made him do it. Be in control when lunging!

      You dont want the horse to cow kick and get stuck in it!

      You dont need to if its buckled on the latigo. Also, you should tighten it a few times after moving the horse around and before riding.

    this may be a really stupid question and i'm sorry if it offends people, but why would you need to throw a saddle onto a horse?

    • @chantelbarcomb1766
      @chantelbarcomb1766 5 років тому

      Personally I never do, I feel like its rude. I also Never let my stirrups or cinch flap around, I hang them over the saddle so they don't hit the horses side.

  • @gloriannepapolis3191

    why all the flying, why not gently put the saddle on, lift and gently place

    • @rainerblessing923
      @rainerblessing923 7 років тому +1

      The saddle weighs about 12kg and the stirrups are hanging down. It's not like an English saddle.

    • @chantelbarcomb1766
      @chantelbarcomb1766 5 років тому

      I always gently place my saddle on my horse, I don't care how much it weighs its rude to toss it on the horse.

    Why did you have her put the saddle on from the right side ??? It's like doing things left handed.

    • @Eaz9950

      waldie ferch She pretty much answered that in the video, so that you don't have to throw all of your rigging over the horse.

      Actually she's extremely good and they prefer not to be called trainers. She's actually teaches dressage lessons at horse tours.
