Thank you so much Laetitia for the information. Super explainations and knowledge to make a "difficult" concept seem so simple.

I have an Equipedic saddle pad that looks exactly like this pad in your video. Did Parelli made a contract with Equipedic to use their pad and put a Parelli label on it? This is one of the pad I tested for true shock absorption and it was the *only* pad out of many that actually does was it states it does for shock absorption and weight distribution. Currently I am working on making shims with a new textile material which offers even more shock absorption.

+Rhiannon Fugatt Hi, Rhiannon..thanks so for your inquiry. Our SmartPad has many similarities to Equipedic (which is a very good pad) but the features that make ours more effective include the shaped shim pocket and extra shim access so utilizing tapered foam shims truly provide the shoulder and spine clearance that our research has clearly indicated is appreciated by horses. Our saddles are build to "welcome" the horse's expanding back when in motion. Impact deflection of focal point pressure is part of the job of a pad and shims, especially when saddles are built to fit a horse's back at rest (which most saddles are)...but there's more to it when you want your horse to truly enjoy the journey with you. He is a totally different set of shapes from the moment he takes the first step. Would love to learn more about your research. If you care to, please email us at saddles@parellisaddles.com.

I learned about some studies being done with saddle pads, all kinds of saddle pads to test them to see if they really are absorbing shock and helping to distribute the weight and get rid of pressure points through a facebook page called The Truth Tack Review. Out of it all I decided to use her technique to test the pads I have and the Equipedic and the Toklat both tested very well, while the smx air ride did not fair well at all in the test. So I listened to this woman's videos on her page, she is an expert in textiles used in equine equipment. And most pads are using very old textile technology that just does not do what they claim it does. She also speaks of some new foam textiles that have comes around recently that she uses in a pad she makes called the Mustang Freedom pad.
