HOW MANY ROUNDS DID YOU GUESS RIGHT!?! THOUGHTS ON THE IPHONE 11!?
4/5! but that iPhone was very impressive!
Nice Ville! It really is, I want to challenge myself to do some more iphone only photography this year. Or maybe Im just becoming too lazy to carry gear around 😂
4/5 after the first one it was really easy to see
Got 4/5 the background was different.
I got 4/5. Got the fourth one wrong.
Thank you for this. I was a pro photographer until I became disabled and could not hold my gear anymore. I am excited to see if I can still make art with a phone.
Wow cant imagine what you’ve gone through. So cool to see that you arent willing to give up.
Good luck I am pretty sure with your zeal and enthusiasm and energy you will definitely bounce back
You aren't disabled.. You are differenty abled now.. Rock !
Can? It's better than any other shitty dslr
good luck my man
Everyone here is like: "I got 5/5, duh!" but come on! The iPhone compared to a $7000 professional camera is amazing! Such great quality photos.
Lady Donna so true eh!?
i got like 2/5 whenever i thought it was the iphone, it was actually the dslr. i was choosing the worse shot and assuming it was the iphone.
Honza Le ha its tricky eh!?
@Aristide Torchia That is so true, but I wanted to point out that the common vibe in the comments is way too dull and "meh" in terms of praising the iPhone for it's more than awesome comparability considering it's a smartphone and it's competitor was a professional DSLR camera. My initial reaction was: "Wow! The iPhone is amazing!" and that was more the point of this entire video.
@@kocicky8 That's because you never developed a photo in CaptureOne or Lightroom, otherwise you will notice the processed photo and the raw photo automatically. One is a photo that is finished by the phone, the other one is a photo that lacks the finishing (half photo).
This is insane! The fact that you can do a direct comparison between a phone and a top grade professional camera is so cool. Really weighs back onto the point that it doesn't matter what equipment you've got anymore, you just need to get creative!
Indeed!
You obviously have never used a real camera if you think an iPhone photo looks just as good as a full frame DSLR.
@@vermontmike9800 you're right, the iPhone photos look much better than the professional camera's photos
5:14 damn look at the shoes comparison
i cant believe it
I got them all, and it’s surprising that the iPhone looks better🤔
Honestly. I’ve told everyone I am becoming an iPhone photographer & they look at me crazy lol
i think he shot in raw thats why
in raw the colors are very flat and basic
M1LAN well either way it’s amazing
@@OshayTheGreat yea it is
Yes bro I also think
The green color of the jacket gave away which was which. Still incredible though, if not side by side the iPhone could definitely pass as a professional camera
Exactly, Plus the jacket was crips in details on the iPhone. What's up with 1DX missing the details?
@@SamDaniel2020 The iPhone was oversharpened while the 1DX was not, it might also be because of TRUE narrow depth of field on the DSLR. But still is quite impressive what the iPhone has archive, in the other hand for more heavy editing the iPhone will fall apart rather far no to mention other limitations.
@@thecolorofmysould True, But I'm seriously blown away with the details in iPhone 11 Pro. Just upgraded to the 11 Pro, Took a few portraits too. Just wow! Need to upload a review from my perspective soon :)
I think apple engineers put all their efforts in Apple iPhone 11, it is just incredible the high resolution and HRD
Why do I prefer the iphone?
Because it's better :P
Because of all the post processing- the phone basically does all the editing for you!
Kainan Sugal
Circus is calling, they want you back
Kainan Sugal I have iPhone XS what do u mean
@Kainan Sugal I'm poor and I'm buying a iphone 11 this week. 😕 So tell me no one not poor because they wouldn't be able to buy A phone at all!
Crazy how good smartphones have gotten, opens up casual photography and film-making to a lot more people!
MamuTim They really are and level the playing field. Anyone with hard work and creativity can create amazing work no matter what the gear.
iphone images have really blurred backgrounds and hair like on the beards are a lot sharper.
Very true, the beards sharpness and blurry backgrounds gives it away.
Yep, that's why it's a better camera :P
Big Boss well for average people it’s amazing. I just feel dslr’s are better for more serious photographers because of the raw looking photos
The iPhone 11 murdered! The camera 😭💯😂😂
In that case, this is a dangerous camera for my selfies...
Got them all correct! Canon has more organic or "softer" touch to the picture. Also iPhone makes the background blur more aggressive. I also use iPhone 11 as my daily driver and made even one advertisement video on my "holiday" at Thailand. I didn't feel the need for a tele also. Now i use BlackEye lens photo case and few of their lenses to help me get the "right" shot. Also now I'm getting more and more accustomed to the moment app for more manual control.
I’ve started making vlogs and videos with my son in hopes to get him creating instead of just watching. I use what I lean from watching you, your brother and every creative types I find. I thank you for spreading the knowledge and motivation to make things happen.
Thats super interesting! Have a great time creating with your son. And no problem, glad to have u apart of the community.
Iphone has an option where you can lower your background blur, it would have made the comparison even harder
Janvar Pitelkov yes true
It’s Jxsus. If you have iphone x and above, after taking picture with portrait mode. Select edit and you can adjust the background blur.
Honestly I don’t think it would have made it harder because when you use that it you make it too blurry and the transition between the foreground and background would look to unnatural
I was thinking that, if he would have modified it, to put it equally, would have been so much harder to know which one is it
It’s Jxsus. You just take the photo and then you go to edit, and there's a little "F", touch it and you can modify the portrait mode
Thank God I came across this video. I was about to go get myself an expensive camera not knowing what the iPhone could do. It’s all in the editing lol
Right same here!
It's not all in the editing, he didn't use the full capacity of his camera in the video. He couldve chosen settings and lenses the iPhone can't compete with. Still, the iPhone undoubtly has a great quality. If you really want to get into photography, iPhones are a good start but upgrading is inevitable. You dont need a 5k camera as a beginner tho, I'd try a beginner model and invest in some lenses and photography courses. My camera + most used lens (Canon EOS 1300d with 50mm 1.8) costs ~700€ with another lens it'd still be around 1000€ which is much but nothing compared to his 5k camera.
* I apologize I confused his price tag of 7500$ with 5k $ but my point still stands
I got the 5 right!!! first guess!! yujuuuu
Wow good work!
Me also
This is very disingenuous. You’re comparing the DOF of an iPhone to that of a full frame camera that was obviously not shot anywhere near f2.8 or wider. The rubes that comment on this video who think the iPhone is amazing don’t understand that you’re using settings on your Canon that help even the playing field. As you mention, the iPhone has software that is providing false reality at the time the photo is taken. The Canon’s image is RAW and has yet to be developed in something like Lightroom. Once someone “develops” the image in LR, the image would absolutely destroy the iPhone’s.
none of the shit u said matters , the iphone 11 has a great camera and thats the point of the video
@@mysticalmaniac2 he is probably a samsung user
@@mysticalmaniac2 shit you said doesn't matter, it's iPhone advertising video, and it's not the only one video like this on UA-cam. And yes, for what it is iPhone camera is great.
I thought the beauty of digital photography was to get pictures on the spot, rather than waiting. For what it’s worth iPhone 11’s camera takes better instant photos than the “professional camera”.
@@mntsam1930 you deserve a kiss on the forehead
After the 1st round and seeing which photo belonged to each camera, it was extremely easy to guess all of the following comparisons correctly. The iphone 11 had a very obvious blurred background in ALL of the photos.
Guessed each and every one correctly almost instantly. That software-based sharpening is very, very obvious to me in every picture. I'm not saying it's bad or that I don't like it, it's just that it's VERY easy to recognise pictures made using a smartphone+clever software vs. pictures made using purely huge sensor+huge lens.
What made it obvious for me is the artificial blur in the iphone pictures, I think most people who are used to a professional camera will immediately notice the difference. Also the colors are a bit too warm and the dynamic range isn't as big.
Got them all. The iPhone’s quality and functions are so great
Good work Ashley!
5/5 - Looking for tell tale HDR of the iPhone and sometimes imperfect edge detection. Also, Canon has the signature reddish skin tones which we know (and sometimes love). But all in all, without pixel peeping, what a great job the little iPhone lens and sensor did!
Good eye!
Hello, great video! I want to ask you a question, does the lack of telephoto lens in the iphone 11,distorts the faces when shooting portraits and can this be fixed by moving forward/backwards? Thank you in advance :)
The iPhone 11 will be a great alternative when going on vacation too. We are planning on going to Japan for two weeks when borders are open and I am so looking forward to just having the iPhone and not my mark 3.
The dynamic range was definitely better on the DSLR but the depth of field effect looked a bit more attractive on the iPhone
I got all of them right. When you study photography you can kind of get an idea which one is which. Some dead give aways are the focal length, the sensor size, and the depth field.
you can adjust the amount of blur you want on the iphone, by going into edit after taking the photo
Nice!
What edits did you make to the photos?
You did a great job of processing your photos. Although for those who shoot a full-frame SLR it is not difficult to guess which camera each shot was taken on (a sense of space and three-dimensionality, specific optical distortions in the bokeh of a “real” high-aperture lens, etc.). However, the iPhone's result is impressive. Thank you for the video.
I have also i phone 11 but i cant shoot like you captured so can you tell me the best potrait aperture to shoot ....or you may say your aperture which you have captured in this video
Oh my goodness, I guessed all rounds incorrectly, its really impressive how a phone can compare with a DSLR camera
I think I get most of it.
First, I noticed the color reality of the photo.
I pick the most realistic color without much editing. I always pick the canon correct.
After the 1st photo, I was able to distinguish easily. I think iPhone 11's picture quality is more bright and gives more depth of field compared to Canon 1DX mark ii.
I failed miserably at being able to tell the difference. I think the major difference to me is the dynamic range between both. Really great comparison Teppo. Keep the videos coming!
😂😂😂 its hard eh!?
I got 5 for 5, but they were all really great photos.
You can see much more detail in the background with the DSLR
Wow nice man!
You can also check that with the iPhone 11, cause there's an option that you can lower the background portrait mode to see more details in the background
this is how I figured it out too
hey, can you tell me how you can change the depth of field on the iphone? what app is that?
I got 4 out of 5. Mixed up with the 1st one, then immediately worked out how blurriness differs between both of these 2 devices
Same here
exactly after knowing first one i able to know alll
I know a few professional wedding photographer that shoot strictly with camera phones now. They will use 3 to 4 cell phones and getting great results.
Got all right. Coz iPhone has just more dynamic range also the skin tones are orangish and portrait mode blurs out just everything to make it depth
Jenish Boricha 👌
Yep Iphone and Apple for the win
what did you use on the iphone? like portrait mode in the camera app or what, and if not, what application did you download?
Yes portrait mode in camera and then editing in lightroom mobile
They were all extremely easily to differentiate, the iPhone 11 has very aggressive bokeh compared to the more natural look of the Canon
Agreed, you could fix that with Apps like Focos though
@@tobi6758 it's not even necessarily a problem if you like bokeh, more just something that makes it easy to tell it's an iPhone 11
iphone 12 or Sony WX-350? (video recorder)
I guessed all, photos from iphone are oversharpened and oversaturated, while the photos of the Canon are still not processed, and you did not do a crop to see the difference, that would have been fun.
Great comparison Teppo! You did a great job matching the two images in each scene, but that is a bow to you as an artist and not the cameras :) Awesome video! I also got the 11 instead of the pro (coming from a 6 LOL). I just wish it was a little smaller haha. Big jump in size from my old iPhone 6.
Tyler Edwards I know what u mean about the size. Iphone 7 to 11 size wise was quite a jump.
0 of 5 really idk what happen to my eyes 😂😂
😂😂😂 its tough bro
Question - if I would like to match the focal length of a smartphone ( like iPhone 12) on my Fuji xt100, which focal length resembles that? ( i had one photo wrong out of 5) Or which lens did you use to resemble the iPhone camera?
5/5 😂😂 Colours had told everything.
Good eye ;)
2:10 this man be giving promo to gas stations
😂😂😂
I’m curious, can’t you lessen the background blur for the iPhone?
You can!
4 out of 5! I messed up on the one with leading lines. But yeah I worked with both iPhone and DSLR for video and IPhone impresses me quite a bit. However I think the sharpness on IPhone is overbearing compared to using a DSLR especially when the iPhone footage is blown up to a bigger screen
Just got the iPhone 11 Pro, Loving the camera. Just a bit disappointed with the quality of the wide angle lens. Overall, it's amazing! Totally planning to sell away my GoPro with this beast.
Yeah its a smaller lens on the wide angle but I still personally love it :D kinda differentiates itself from other mobile lenses
Teppo Haapoja hope even the wide angle shops were as crisp as the main camera but I the video is still dope! Took a vlog last night with the 11 pro, going to upload it soon. Keep an eye out for it 😁😁👍🏻
It's funny because the next youtube recommendation is matti's video of iphone 11 pro vs DSLR ^^
Love you both thanks for the video.
🙌🙌🙌
You should have had compared the raw photos...Why did edit and then compare it???
I guessed it all right.. 😎 😅 5/5 iPhone shows more background blur irrespective of the distance from the subject.
Good work!
Almost everyone has an iphone in the pocket
mexico: ora camaron
Thank you for doing this. There’s something about Apple’s portraiture that I find really off. I couldn’t put my finger on it until this comparison. I have the 11pro and am more motivated than ever to tinker with all the presets. Your xm2 pics are gorgeous btw. Now to try and dismantle Apple’s ideas of imagery.
I got 5 out of 5. In fact I found it really easy after recognizing the big three differences between the iPhone photos and the canon photos.
Colour of jacket helped a ton 😉
5/5. What gives it away is the consistent super blurred background. The Canon had more variation in the BG. Also, the iPhone is struggling with glasses, like we can see in the last one.
Agreed! If I did this again Id lower the fstop ;)
$1,000 Canadian? 0:24 🤔
I got 4/5. The shot on the pier tripped me up. The iPhone 11 got an amazing photo there.
Ha thanks bro!
@teppohaapoja iphone X vs ipone 11 , which one is better for photography?plz rply me soon as possible
Why can’t any of my photos look this good, I have the iPhone 11
Because he knows what he’s doing and he’s selecting images that play to the iPhones strengths. Notice, he’s wearing a hat in all of the photos. If he had no hat on, it would be immediately obvious which was which.
Got them all right!! The digital depth of field gave it away😂
🙌🙌🙌
I really like colours of photos you've taken. But being honest - pictures made with iphone looks only good on iphone, if you try to print them - then it's like comparing Range Rover vs. Smart :)
Totally agree, Iphone 11 is only good for social media or web.
only if you print big sizes. medium to small it's still decent
Who's printing photos in 2020? Ive been a professional portrait photographer for 15 years and Ive had to print photos maybe twice in the past 5 years. Everything is social media these days and everyone is looking at your photos on tablets and smartphones. Very few of us are shooting for high end magazines, ad campaigns and needing to do large prints, so its a moot point.
It's mot only for printing. Even the quality on laptop / phone screen looks the same, probably you don't take professional pictures with phone :)
If you shoot RAW with this iPhone, you can still get decent enough prints. You won't believe how much you're missing until you start shooting RAW.
Awesome video! I won 5 out 5, because I have the 11Pro. The background is slightly blurrier :)
I decided not buy a DSLR because of your video. TKS
To be honest, i’ve got all wrongs. OMG!
It’s a little surprising that DSLR manufacturers claim that full frame sensors are good for low light but how can an iphone with such small sensor get such great night shots and not to forget the handheld steady shot for 10 seconds, that wowed me and no blur. I have a full frame Sony and Iphone 11 as well but if you want to change numerous things in post processing, the dslr offers a lot and not to forget DSLR’s are not just meant to click potraits, it’s usage is really vast and in numerous circumstances it performs far superior than any iphone but hats off to Apple as well but that super low light shot and the 4k video quality is top notch! Also, not to forget if you are a pixel peeper, you will start noticing all the flaws in phone cameras 😄
The iPhone seems to darken the backgrounds and lose the highlights a little bit but I feel that with a slight tweak in photoshop you could easily end up with the same result.
good day. are you available to dialogue about videoing with iPhone 11 to iMac and mixer for purposes of podcasting? thanks so much.
I got all 5/5 . It was easy.
The iPhone just gives it away with the sharper images and the enhanced blurred backgrounds.
The iPhone really does look great, but there's something fascinating about the photos from the DSLR.
But guess in today's day and age of Instagram and Social Media, the iPhone's blur backgrounds and extra sharpness does catch the eye more.
So i'll give it to the iPhone.
CRIKEY ME!! I got the first 2 wrong. Then I noticed the slight colour difference. The 1DX seemed to have more teal and the iPhone was more blue. Great shots and good comparisons.
HA Sam your hilarious!
Thanks brother 🙏🏼 you’ve motivated me to make more content 🙏🏼💪🏼I hope one day we can create a cool adventure together 💪🏼
No worries Charlie, glad to help you out!
glad you got the shoutout. just sub'd!
Tyler Edwards 🙏🏼thank you so much brother glad you enjoyed my content enough to jump on board 💪🏼
Did u editted the pictures ? Or anny filtrr ? reply
I got all of them right! Damn!😂
Saba Diepie haha amazing!
Great video, Teppo! And finally, after using the iPhone 11 Pro for a month, I finally could have 5/5 right guesses on the pictures! I can't wait to keep following you in 2020, and in the following decade. I totally agree. The last decade was great. We figured out what we wanted to be, and found our path in life. Now we just need to live the life we've chosen, and live it the best way possible! This is going to be a great time! :D
Awesome Magne!
Damn! I got only 1 correct 😭
I'm buying iPhone 11 then, thx for convincing me!
How did you get blurred background for iphone 11 photos? I use Portrait mode but every time iphone notifies me that I am either too far away or too close
Omg the iPhone is amazing 🤯
🙌🙌🙌
4/5! The parking lot shot was really hard to tell, I was surprised! In most cases, the quality of the blur transition from in focus to bokeh gave it away. The new iPhone computational processing have gone a long way from just slapping a blur around a face
kadaberkz2014 Definitely! The blur and sharpness give it away but to be honest :D i actually liked the look of my iphone edits alot more than the 1Dx.
I got 3/5! The iPhone was really good!
👍👍👍
What's the name for that app you featured in video for editing blurr in background for iPhone
Aayush Singh focus!
Teppo Haapoja thanks a ton brother♥️ suggest some tips n trics for photography with i phone 11 or share a link of your video that can help
5 out of 5! The Iphone photos are sharper, specifically in the models beard. Also the Iphone depth of field looks shallower than the f2.8 on the 16-35mm.
Definitely!
Ps great looking channel, great to have u apart of this community!
Teppo Haapoja Wow, thank you so much! It’s great to be apart of it!
It's crazy how good these modern phones and cameras in them are. And it's great that you can basically use them to create professional looking content. On top if that, capturing your everyday life has never been easier.
Jyrki Sorjonen So true Jyrki!
yeah all my answer was 100% correct.!
simply, iphone made more blurr effect on the background
Nice man!
Great cameras, after the first photo it was easy for me to guess, very very small deference.
Sorry the video was too long for me i skipped to the end after 5:38.
Iphone 11 is a greatest, amazing & beautiful.
Is DSLR Mai PUBG chalta hai Kya..😂😂😂
No need to look at the picture.
Dimension of pictures gives out the answer.
Wizard
Or just oook at how blurred the background is. iPhone is always more blurred
Suggest any camera app for my iPhone 11 in which I can take photos using manual mode because in the default app it does not have shutter speed control, focal length control
This type of video is silly. You’re having people compare photo quality in their phones or tablets. Of course its going to look like similar quality. You’re also not telling us what your settings are for either camera. How do we know you’re not “handicapping” the Canon’s performance to make the iPhone look better? Cliche video of “my iPhone is just as good as a DSLR”.
Did you use any lenses/accesories with the iPhone 11?
5/5 i own iphone 11 so wasn’t that hard
Good work mate!
Same
Hi, What's your settings when you took Iphone 11 pictures? Impressive shots. How you can guide me. Cheers
Wow, thas a good camara in the iPhone.
Camera + software can do wonders!
5/5.
It is pretty easy to guess right once you realise how better the iPhone is about blurring a background. You can clearly see a notable difference between each of the shots when you look at this part of the picture. Even in the very dark shot in the parking, you can notice that easily. It's truly incredible to have such a powerful camera in a such "little" object. 😱
Skintones makes it obvious lol
You think? You have a good eye then.
Teppo Haapoja lol.. i do both DSLR and iPhone Photography tho
There are consistent differences, which makes it fairly easy to guess. The depth of field was always greater with the Mark ii. If you look at the backgrounds and not the foreground, the iPhone is more blurred because it shoots at f1.8 and 2.4, whereas the the DLSR, depending on lense, has probably its widest aperature at f2.4 and smallest at f22. That leaves me asking, was the Mark ii shot at a the same f stop? If not, it's not a great comparison. If they were, was it sensor size? I'd like to see side by sides without an obvious foreground like the portraits you shot, i.e. a landscape with the composition being at a far distance. Not denying for a second that the iphone camera is sick, it has become my primary camera, since I always have it with me, and you're right, it's a great camera for non pros or up and coming pros. I just, the more I think about it, the more huge differences there are like img format, shutter speed, etc, so further shutterbug explanation in your comparisons is warranted imo.
what camera settings do you use for the iphone
I kept thinking that the pictures taken on the iPhone 11 were actually taken on the camera, because they look so much more crisp...
Please tell the app on iPhone you use to edit
I got a perfect score. iPhones have blurred backgrounds so it's somehow easy to identify. :) I'm definitely getting a new one, from iPhone 7 to iPhone 11.
Good work!
I got 3 right. The 11's photos are superb and gives access to taking great pics to a whole lot of people. Great video BTW.
Which application you use for editing these photos ??? Please reply bro
