Yes! The highly underrated and underappreciated Lisa Fischer! She used to sing background vocals for Luther Vandross, too. And Luther was no joke when it came to his singers.
In 1993 I saw Lisa Fischer as the Opening act for Luther Vandross Konzert Live in Frankfurt / Germany. It was my 2nd Concert by Luther Vandross, Luther Vandross was one of the greatest and best Singers in Soul and R&B Music. I've been a Fan of his since 1986, when I saw his first Concert, so Fantastic. The Morning is like the Smile, Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany
Where y'all getting this underated from? I saw where the same was said of Tina Marie. Underated by this generation only? We old school, and some of the young that know good music, knows Lisa and Tina are beasts on the mic!
Lisa Fischer is terribly underrated. Her voice is so hypnotic and soothing at the same time. Beautiful is such an understatement to fully describe her.
Check out the '20 feet From Stardom' documentary, which won an Oscar!! Featuring her and other underrated female vocalists. I just found it last night!! I think it's on Netflix or Hulu??And people forget that she won a Grammy for this song, beating out Patti Labelle (my living legend!), Aretha Franklin and Vanessa Williams. I'm still amazed by her talent, even today! On my playlist right now!
Lisa Fischer appears in “20 Feet From Stardom” a documentary 20+ years after her only solo album was released. She explains she was working on a second album when she realized she didn’t want to be a solo artist and all that comes with it so her second album was never completed. She’s more comfortable being a background singer living a normal life.
godivadark That’s the wild thing about her. She sings for the sake of song. She loves music, as stated in an interview: I wouldn’t be alive right now without music
Yes I agree, I recommend reacting to the Original Songbird and Mother of the Whistle Note in pop music who inspired Mariah Carey to do it, Minnie Riperton and her song Lovin You, you will be amazed at her voice.
Lisa is widely considered one of the best singers ever. She actually walked away from a solo career because she didn't want that kind of pressure. Watch 20 Feet From Stardom and you learn more about her.
You should do Michel’lé “Something in My Heart” Very unique. She has a speaking voice that sounds like a child/cartoon, but a very powerful singing voice when she sings. 🤯🤯🤯
You look too young to be feeling this the way you do...giving that "stank face" is the best compliment you can give someone who can "sang" like this. You've come a long way in 3 years bro, great reactions always.
When I saw the title I screamed with joy. Thank you. Lisa is a master vocalist. She's still performing in her 60s with that incredible range. She won a Grammy for this song . She started background for Luther and sang with the Rollling Stones and many others. Next you have to hear today's vocal beast Yebba (My Mind) live performance. Love you and thanks again.
That's a baddddd assess woman here!!! Always have been, that woman is a GREAT singer and has a great voice for real. Check out the late great Phyllis Hyman, Martha Wash, Cheryl Lynn, Lisa Stansfield. Oh and Mikki Howard too.
Lisa Fischer is a vocal legend. She has done background for so many legendary artist from Luther Vandross to The Rolling Stones just to name a few. Her live performances are other worldly. Glad you enjoyed her!!!
IMO, Lisa Fischer has one of the best voices ever, and she could have definitely been as successful as the divas from the 90’s. She wrote this, saw it go to #1 on R&B, won a Grammy for it... and then she didn’t do much else as a solo artist. What a tragedy! She went on to continue being a background singer for legendary artists like The Rolling Stones and Tina Turner. I really wish she had the chance to put out a second album back then.
Pop Land Yeah. She mentioned in the 20 Feet from Stardom doc that she had problems with the label, so the 2nd album never happened. Luther was the one who convinced her to step out of the background and go solo. I just wished she’d stayed a little longer...
@@WhitneyR. It would be great if she had a larger body of work. However, I can understand Lisa, as a sensitive soul, wanting to avoid the pressure of solo fame
Lisa Toured and was featured Guest with the Rolling Stones for many years, she also was a backup singer for Sting and he stated that she should've been a Super 🌟 Her Octave Range is mind blowing and gives me chills.
Yasss @ the bridge! It always stuns me. What I like about her upper register is that she has so much control there. You can clearly hear her enunciate the last part all the way through all the octaves and back down: “how can I ease it?” The fact that she could do it live exactly like that was crazy! My other fav Lisa song is an album track called Last Goodbye. She also does a great live performance of Gimme Shelter with The Rolling Stones.
Not m any main stream have had that "whistle registry" - Lisa Fisher, Minnie Ripleton, Dennis Williams, Mariah, Arianna, Adam Lopez, and Georgia Brown - Im sure there are more but that's main stream.
"...a really good toxic relationship..." is the best inspiration for these kinds of songs. So glad that she chose not to go down the solo road. #saved Like many others wrote, the live version of this will drop your jaw. I love "Wildflower" (remake) on her So Intense album. This entire album is excellent.
This woman is a tremendous singer. This song was a huge hit sultry glamorous and sensual. This song lived on the radio and she got a Grammy. She is the real deal. Those notes are blessed to her Mariah Carey and the late greatest Minnie Riperton

Lisa is still alive and performing here around my native Brooklyn on occasion. I'm glad you heard me and had a chance to hear Lisa who IMHO is the most underrated singer of her generation. Yes young man lisa is the truth to me the chorus is the back of the lead singer as well the music. Have anyone suggested Minnie Riperton she is the mother of whistling who is well known to started that style. Her soft voice high octave ranges. With her unfortunate timely death she passed away 40 yrs ago of cancer at age 30. But she had influenced mariah carey and host of others. Minnie is legendary very sensual passionate deep i love her. You should start with "Inside my love".

She was a back-up Sting, Tina Turner, and Luther Vandross. She also toured with The Rolling Stones for a number of years...check out "Give Me Shelter" by the Stones feat. Lisa Fischer. And "Safe Me" is a up tempo hit where her vocals really are demonstrated well. The live version is excellent.
I have always said Lisa Fisher is my favorite one hit wonder star of All Time. How Can I Ease The Pain is in my top 10 favorite songs of All Time. When this song came out back then I played it non stop. I actually bought her album just for this song. It's a shame she didn't blow up after this because she was one of the top vocalists, but you got to realize this song blew up when our Top Divas were Janet, Whitney, Mariah, and Madonna. If you were not either of these 4 women it was really hard to blow up on that Iconic level, because these 4 women were shutting all the shit down in the late 80's and all of the 90's PERIOD. Another great reaction Jack. Love you my guy.
This one single performance from her tied with a whole album by Patti Labelle for R&B vocal female performance at the Grammys. One of my favorite songs and vocals of ALL TIME. 💜
Her and Mariah came out around the same time album wise and back then people used to compare their whistles on who’s was better. Lisa has been in the business for years before that. She was Luthers premiere back up singer. They said she didn’t like the lime light after this success, that’s why she never came back to do another album. Her live version at the Apollo theater show. Check it out!!!!!
Glad you reacted to this Jack! Word, Lisa Fischer is one of the best singers of any era. Not too many people can blow like she can! She truly is a special talent. Your ears have listened to something very special, lol :D
This song....like wow! I was waiting to see your face after the beat drop. This is amazing. I wish that she would have done a second album, but am glad she blessed us with this one
Beyonce has really good range. She just doesn’t always use it. Her live performances are when you get to see her real vocal abilities. Kinda like when she she did that short operatic run at Coachella a couple of years ago.
She was a background singer for Luther Vandross. That in a nutshell said it all. She made this one song that will stand the test of time! I resonate with this song so much! Give me all or nothing at all She is out of this world!
I heard this song back in the day and was blown away. She eased my pain. She has incredible range. This song is the only one I witnessed to win a tie at the Grammy Awards that year. She was tied with a song by Patti LaBelle that year. So weird to see two artists sharing a win like that. Also chances are Jack you’ve heard her in nearly all the backgrounds of Luther Vandross songs. She was his backup singer.
Lisa released just one solo album in her entire career and it produced grammy wins. The majority of her career was spent as a backup and session singer for multiple industry luminaries, including a touring gig with the Rolling Stones.
Believe it or not. Lisa Fischer's solo career never took off. She started as a background singer and returned to background singing. All of that talent and her beautiful voice.
She chose to cut her solo career short . She felt more comfortable singing background than being in the limelight, so midway through recording her second album, she decided to go back and continue her career as bgv.
Jack, your reactions to the R&B Divas are priceless! I was eleven years old when this song dropped in 1991 and I remember it was all over the radio. Another big hit to review that came out in 1989, but was recorded by a different Lisa, is called "All Around The World." The song is up-tempo and is sung by British singer Lisa Stansfield who has a very soulful voice.
This is my favorite reaction bc this is my all time favorite song 😩 if I’m not mistaken she was a back up singer for Tina turner and Luther Vandross. Won a Grammy for this song too ‼️

This song....like wow! I was waiting to see your face after the beat drop. This is amazing. I wish that she would have done a second album, but am glad she blessed us with this one
I came here for 5:38 reaction of the best note 😯😯😯😁
And people got the nerve to call Beyonce GOAT😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Beyoncé is still amazing. Don’t do that. Range is not everything.
Beyonce has really good range. She just doesn’t always use it. Her live performances are when you get to see her real vocal abilities. Kinda like when she she did that short operatic run at Coachella a couple of years ago.
@@MS-kt8vl Aaliyah was amazing,Teena Marie was amazing, Whitney Houston was amazing
She was a background singer for Luther Vandross. That in a nutshell said it all. She made this one song that will stand the test of time! I resonate with this song so much! Give me all or nothing at all
She is out of this world!
Orgasmic, seriously she is a vocal powerhouse!
An all-time favorite of mine!
No whistle, just her raw (voice) talent!
Throwback classic. Three 6 Mafia samples this on their song "Late Night Tip".
They sure did
I never thought I'd love watching a guy listen to music as much as I love watching this guy listen to music 😆
Man please do michell'e something in my heart
That bridgeeeeeeee I haven’t heard anyone match the effortless transition YET
I loved Lisa Stansfield’s All Woman too!
This is my favorite reaction bc this is my all time favorite song 😩 if I’m not mistaken she was a back up singer for Tina turner and Luther Vandross. Won a Grammy for this song too ‼️
I forgot all about this song! I wish she had a bigger career. You should do deborah cox "Nobody' Supposed to be Here"
Can I just give props to you and all your commenters for showing love to Old school music ❤️❤️❤️
