    The company that was brought in by an insurance company from out of state, dedicated facility transport for one hospital system that may out may not own the insurance company, got in trouble with the state over advanced life support and emergency provider status, the list goes on. Look at other stories about the people they hire. Dirty, shady, and trash company.

    I'm glad this guy was not letting superior Ambulance 🚑 off the hook

      To paraphrase the well known words, 'The buck stops here', this ambulance company has to take responsibility; and in most cases this means starting at the top. New management is needed. Now that they've been exposed I'd like to think that there's no other option left other than going out of business.

      It's not the ambulance companys fault thought. The entire system is messed up. @@ericlozen9631

    This is why the U.S. needs free healthcare... only issue there are reasons against it... some good (though I do not know many) and some bad (won't name them).

    My last ambulance ride was an uber that cost me $8.27. I even asked him to turn on his flashers.

      If you were to get sick, there is a sick charge, look it up. You also need to tell them you sick, common courtesy. I'm sure it they knew you were sick, you'd be denied service and they are well within their right to not show up. No lawsuits for you, cause I know that's what y'all love to hit people with

      If you could take an Uber, there's a pretty good chance you didn't need an ambulance or an emergency room.

    I understand why Hank is frustrated, the price gouging is not acceptable. But these hospitals are requesting and ambulance for patients that dont need it. Same goes for people that call 911 for absolute bs stuff like chronic pain, a swollen toe, ect. These ambulance services are going broke and if things don't change, you wont get an ambulance when you call 911 and need it.

    As an EMT I have had Doctors tell me to my face that they ordered a more critical level of transport than necessary to decrease eta for pickup. Not based on patient need. Doctor lied for his own convenience. Patient gets the bill.

    I contacted the Michigan A.G. office and filed a report. All they did was suggest I contact Blue Cross and ask for more money. No help at all.

    The transfers are approved by insurance prior to transport on a routine transfer.

    As an EMT, Superior sucks. They constantly try to hire people from other companies too, can’t tell you how many times I’ve been offered a job there. Will always refuse.
    Another predatory company is Critical Care Transport.

    Hank- briefly mentioning the State AG, but no mention that the same AG allowed the former Beaumont (corewell) to sell one of the largest non-profit EMS agencies ( community EMS and joint ventures) in the state to the out of state, privately owned and for profit superior EMS. Why would it be any surprise that a for profit corporation is worse for the people than a non-profit? This is the real story.

      They're price gouging individuals with the same rates they price gouge insurance companies. I can only assume that's why Blue Cross dumped them.

  • @stunrut

    When the insurance company refuses to pay ask in writing for the medical credentials of the individual who made that decision. Most of them have no medical training at all. I have to write special things in my report to alert them to the medical necessity for ambulance transport as they don't understand it when they see it. Pathetic. Call them out. Many times they will change their mind and pay rather than explain why people with no training make these decisions.

    I have lived in Taipei for 15 years. I came back here after 5 yrs. OMG. Inflation is nuts. Universal healthcare in Taiwan rules. $6 to go to a doctor or dentist meds included. Free ambulance. $100 hernia surgery 3 days in hospital. Here the doctors are like scared to treat you. Getting antibiotics is like pulling teeth. They are OTC in Taipei. Or god forbid getting some benzos for sleep. The docs here act like it's heroin..

    • @rhysbutnormal
      @rhysbutnormal 5 місяців тому

      antibiotics are already over-prescribed. they do not need to be OTC for every schmuck with a cold thinking they need antibiotics. benzos have potential for abuse, are addictive, and are controlled for a reason.

    • @drugsmadilla
      @drugsmadilla 6 місяців тому +2

      Or maybe question why people call 911 for chronic pain or a swollen toe, and use and abuse the emergency department and treat it like their personal primary doctor and pharmacy.

    You don’t have much say into the matter if youre 911 service utilizes superior. Contact your Mayer and demand your city terminates its contract with superior. What they propose here does not seem to address the issue. Do not use superior
