I'm surprised to learn that the "lagarto ocelado" that lives around me can be a pet. They are surprisingly not shy in the wild. You can be 1m away from them and sonetimes they hide slowly without running.
These are my favorites lizards because of your videos. They are so adorable and fun to watch. Great tips for lizard owners. Wish everyone cared for their reptiles like you do because they're not easy and take skill so it's so nice to see . Thank you for these videos. ☺
Ive never thought that lizards can actually get attached to you like the female does. I love reptiles but always believed that the best case scenario with one is it _not_ minding you being around it since theyre not as social as dogs, but seeing Saphira/Saphire (?) curiously explore like that and appear to even enjoy being around you is beyond amazing and adorable! Great video, unfortunate that it's so underrated.. I hope that someday I'll get to have a reptile on my own and this video certainly helped alot. Cheers!
Yea it’s really amazing! It all depends on the reptile and it’s personality/experience with people. Thanks a lot! 😁 I hope you can get a reptile someday!
I have an elderly lacerta who’s been in a pet shop for all her life. She’s at least 7, and she hasn’t had a lot of handling or human interaction besides having some locusts put in her vivarium every couple of days. She’s very quick, very easily stressed, and she absolutely hates physical contact, but will happily eat from tweezers or my hand. I’ve had her for 6 months now and I’ve only managed to hold her once, for around a minute. This was very useful information, hopefully one day we can actually have some proper time together, but I honestly think where she’s so old, she’s set in her ways and probably won’t want a lot of fuss anyway😢
@@KkCreatures My friend’s lizard Lupita says a big “thank you!”. He was trying to tame her and following her with his hand around the tank so he could pick her up, and he said she looked like she might bite him. After watching your video, he just goes in and is there but does not reach to hold her yet. She is relaxing more and even sitting on top of her rock, not running to hide under the other rock. Much better! 😊
This is such a great video - so positive and educational! I especially liked how you highlighted respect for their autonomy! The more intelligent the reptile, the more important it is to do things on their terms. My emerald tree skink is my smartest and most interactive pet, and all handling is on his terms. He sees it as a treat to get out of his enclosure, and that makes me so much happier than if I just grabbed him.
Nice video, I’ve had a black jeweled lacerta for about a year and it was 5” and is now 18”, it’s not afraid of me but doesn’t let me hold it. I think I’ll try the tweezer method. 👍
YES GOOD FACTS,ABOUT BETWEEN WILD REPTILES THAN ONES YOU GET AT EXPOS,,,,OR PET STORE'S ,WHICH IS MY FAVORITE PETSMART ,,,,GREAT VIDEOS,,,THANKS 4 SHARING ,,,YOUR JOURNEY INTO CREATURE FEATURE????,,,
Thank you! I agree captive-bred reptiles are much better, but I understand that in some situations you have to buy wild-caught. I’m not sure! I’m planning on continuing to make videos though!
Do you ever have problems out of these 2 like fighting or aggression? And a how big is that terrarium? I’m curious because I want to get a pair myself!! A melanistic and a wild type
Fortunately my pair gets along really well and they never fight! Occasionally when feeding there will be a tug of war sort of thing with the food but I’m always able to break it up. Sometimes pairing lacertas all year doesn’t work for people but it depends on how they get along! I house them in a 75 gallon terrarium. Good luck!
DON'T WANT TO SOUND PUSHY ,NEVER SAY IT'S OK,WHEN HE MOVING AWAY FROM YOU,,LEARNED QUICKLY,,,THAT THERE DOING WHAT YOU WANT,,SOMETIMES I TALK TO MUCH,AND ANIMALS PICK OUT ON THAT,,,I BANG MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL AND I'M BACK TO NORMAL,,,HA HA,,

Thank you!!
Beautiful lizards! Closet thing I’ve owned was a fire bellied newt, and I’m
not sure it’s great to handle those guys a lot…
Thank you I agree! Newts are amazing creatures, and you’re right, it’s not great to hold amphibians without gloves
@@KkCreatures good thing I avoided holding him then 😂
