I took my Waltly Titanium out for a spin in the Finnish winter in - 20°C (-29F) to see if I can trust electronic gears. My Snow ride was amazing. Everything Froze except the bike.
In Germany we also have the saying, that there’s no bad weather. However it befits your country much better! I found you through your titanium bike build and wanted to say thanks for the inside view of your order process.
It is only below -30C when the bike stops behaving normally. Between -15 and -29 it works decently with occasional issues in gears with my Trek Marlin 7.
@@SladeTakalaLamey It has been 3 years of winter biking here. This season was my personal record for biking between -29C to -25C (7km commute to work) for about a week.
@@benkadavilalexander9207 I use a Auclair glove (something similar to deer duck men's glove, I forgot the exact model). I line it with a basic woollen glove inside. But yes fingers are still gonna freeze. I often have to take a break or two along my commute.
When the battery is completely empty, the motor can't readjust the cage, but the clutch still disengages. So you can just hand shift it by being a bit brutal and pushing/pulling the cage inwards/outwards and overcoming the clutch to manually select your gears. It sounds bad, but it shouldn't cause any damage. At least it worked for me, but I carry a spare battery in my backpack now 😂

Absolute pleasure. Do you do ultra events?
When having a beard finally pays off 😅

The fact that you know that means you have bigger kahunas than me.

-30C 😮 If I may, what sort of gloves do you wear? I have a Roeckl Villach Trigger, but my pointing finger starts freezing within 30minutes at -5C.

That's really good information, thanks. I'm doing a 1000k race this summer and was thinking of buying a spare for that.
@@SladeTakalaLamey Definitely recommend! It's not expensive and you can literally go twice as far with it
@@SladeTakalaLamey Add a spare 2032 for the shifting pod(s) as well if you're at it 😊
@@The_1ntern3t my plan was to start with a fresh pair. And probably a few spares, (It's only 5 days!)
Good looking bike. What tires were you using on icy snowy weather
