As a Pink Floyd fan, I cannot deny that these two incredible bands did this song justice, I see a lot of comments saying that it was horrible, I really strongly disagree, it took these amazing musicians to cover such a complex song, and they did it very well!!!
I was ok in the beginning as a mega floyd fan I was pleased they kept to the integrity of the song...but listen carefully to the singer...the long haired one.......if they are going to do a Pink Floyd tune, they best know the lyrics...they f-ked up the lyrics ....
Hey, I was at this show! Or at least one of them. In Wilmington, DE. Partied with Geoff and Fates Warning after the show. Will never for get that! Was there with my whole band.
James Labrie 1:54 did a mistake " Now I got the feeling once again , I can't explain this is not how I am , zkkhzkzbkrtlnrlntlkze I aaaaaaaam " hahah Gotta love James labrie, i love you dude :D
I remember I saw them together at the Universal Amphitheatre (Gibson Theater ) or whatever the hell they call it now. It was awesome. Their cover of this was my strongest memory from that show and didn't even know they released a video of it until this moment, nearly 13 years later.
Saw this tour in Hollywood! Sooo kick ass! They did four songs together: Comfortably Numb, Take Hold Of The Flame, Peruvian Skies, and Won't Get Fooled Again! Both bands and James/Geoff singing on stage together! My favorite concert encore...ever!
at the beginning of the performance I was reading the comments. A lot of misguided fanaticism around or what? this is an interpretation made by great musicians, although you are not as good as them (and this is quite improbable to be true, because there are just a bunch of musicians at this level in the world) think of what you write. If the only idea of a variation of the original kills you, do not listen to any cover or live version -neither to Roger on tour, of course. Gosh.
I got goosebumps... Micheal Wilton (Queensryche guitarist) looks like he had his brother died since Chris DeGarmo's departure from the band, and it feels like he is really enjoying John Petrucci's company here. Geoff Tate is probably the most underrated but most talented rock-metal singer of all time, maybe after Freddie Mercury. James LaBrie shines when it comes to mellow songs (just listen to Wait for Sleep). Great musicians, great bands, great song, great music. God bless them all.
+SammieDavidDeLuce Rush are gods and we all appreciate your opinion, but you are just watching two bands covering the greatest band in history of not only rock, but in history of music......
+axlrosea675 Wilton clearly flubbed multiple times on the middle solo. For the simplicity of it, it is actually not an easy one to pull off. And who is playing off camera? the closing licks? was Degarma on this tour? You actually hear him, and not Wilton standing with Petrucci.
+David stone Mike Stone was the other guitarist at the time; too bad DeGarmo wasn't there... out of all the QR members, he was probably the one most influenced by Pink Floyd.
I love how, at the five minute mark, you can tell how stoked Portnoy is to play this song. You can tell he and Petrucci truly love PF's work by their facial expressions while playing it.
maybe its not controllable? me cant even controll my face when playing hard things for me with guitar... its music ur listening music not watchin his face lolss :D
Sorry, I wasn't talking about the face he makes, just an expression bcz I can't think of the guy's name. Just saying that when he messes up the lyrics, I practically go insane! LOL
Why is John P. a true guitarist? He stayed true to the solo in this song. He did not try to rip 64th notes all over the place because he understands that a solo is about quality and not quantity. Something tells me someone like Malmsteen would have ruined this solo, trying to impress people with his speed instead of with soulfullness. Good job John. The original solo by Gilmour is one of the most memorable solos ever, and you did justice to it.
If you can't handle the complexity of Comfortably Numb don't do it as it'll only make it look like you can't play. Both Dream Theather n' Queensryche can play otherwise but they fail miserably at this one. Bad move...
You can tell, they liked it. I mean, when you watch a group cover someone elses really big tune you can only tell if they (the coverer) "get it" or if they are doing the number because someone said "Oh, you can do that?" kind of thing. The sense I got was that the group really was into the music and the concept behind the song and then did it in their own way - but true to the feeling of the original. I give it a 9 - !
One thing musicians love to do besides play their own songs, is to also have fun playing songs that they love and grew up listening to. It's obvious pink floyd has influenced greatly these musicians and the best way to honour them is to do a cover at one of their shows. Major respect indeed!!
finally someone who knows what he's saying... Nobody will ever play the solo as Gilmour does...It is simply not possible. It's like trying to copy a painting..It will surely look as a Rembrandt, but it will never be one . Cheers mate!
i love how they keep the solo's pretty close to the original and petrucci's solo is just freakin amazing. I realize they arent pink floyd and so they cant put the same emotion into it but they do a damn good job. And to the people who say petrucci has no emotion in his playing...you're idiots.
AMAZING. I love this song and to hear Dream Theater contribute to this live version WOW. Best I have ever heard. Geoff Tate is awesome. Petrucci? God on guitar my favorite living guitar player. I know all of his material.
I love Queensryche. I've seem them many times live. Time takes a toll unfortunately and Mr. Tate may not sing as many high notes (and as often as he once did), but he will forever remain one of the best rock singers EVER. I like Dream Theater also, I wish I could get this DVD somewhere.
Do you realize the level of talent on that stage at one time???????? Holy shit! The stoners don't get it, this was a bake anthem, but JESUS, that was loaded right there!
To all of you who constantly complain about a band covering another band not sounding like the original get off it and enjoy the song. These are to great bands covering one of the most cherished songs of all time. If you have never played this song live in a band then you have no clue how difficult it is to pull off with all the different dynamics. OH,Degarmo is just as good as Petrucci. There both excellent guitar players.
Geoff tate canta muito, uma das mais belas vozes do metal. Sem ele na banda não vejo mais graça no Queensryche, ficou parecendo banda cover dela mesma.
You've hammered the argument on the nail-- "However, I do believe that Petrucci's claim to guitar-fame is exactly his technical profficiency, as opposed to his compositional skill, which is mediocre in my opinion." EXACTLY! Well done. Bravo! You have done justice to the 'classic' tag on your name. Now I can rest in peace. haha.
I am not a follower of either of these bands. I know Queensryche. Never heard of Dream theater. I am a huge fan of covers. I love them and search them out. I will say that this is a very good cover. No doubt. It just goes to show you how many great guitar players and artists that are out there today.
both videos are beyond spectacular, ive been past obsessed with getting words hearing, and the icing on the cake see those (sorry no disrespect) lips and eyes give that creative and unfortunately now very believable version of what it means to GO ? ty btw pls give me your real name, ive been posting too Geoff but never knew
This is actually a pretty good cover from two killer bands and lead singers! Remember, this is the Queensryche & Dream Theater version, NOT Floyd's, so don't complain that it's "not like Floyd's" it's not supposed to be exactly like Floyd's, that's why it's a cover. Enjoy, it's cool.
It's funny when you think about it though, LaBrie is considered the bands "weak link", but hes one of the best vocalists out there today, speaks for the band as a whole if you ask me.
James's voice fits the song almost perfectly.
james is HORRENDOUS
@@have_a_good_cry_libtard5733 fuck off, i usually don't praise labrie because his lyrics are cringe and voice unfitting but here he fit perfectly.
As a Pink Floyd fan, I cannot deny that these two incredible bands did this song justice, I see a lot of comments saying that it was horrible, I really strongly disagree, it took these amazing musicians to cover such a complex song, and they did it very well!!!

between 1:48 and 1:55
If it was just dream theater, it would have been amazing, have you heard their cover of “hey you”?
What a great song for these veteran musicians to jam to. Mad respect for these guys. 👍
Hey, I was at this show! Or at least one of them. In Wilmington, DE. Partied with Geoff and Fates Warning after the show. Will never for get that! Was there with my whole band.
Wow! How were they?
James Labrie 1:54 did a mistake " Now I got the feeling once again , I can't explain this is not how I am , zkkhzkzbkrtlnrlntlkze I aaaaaaaam " hahah Gotta love James labrie, i love you dude :D
Wonderful they made a cover that is almost true to the original, Geoff rules man this song makes you relax.
You're tone deaf LMAO !!!
I love Geoff Tate's voice. The guy never gets any recognition for having one of the best voices in music.
one of the best covers I've heard.
Impresionante interpretación de esta magnífica pieza de Pink Floyd.
I remember I saw them together at the Universal Amphitheatre (Gibson Theater ) or whatever the hell they call it now. It was awesome. Their cover of this was my strongest memory from that show and didn't even know they released a video of it until this moment, nearly 13 years later.
3:00 Breaking News! A visibly panicked Mike Portnoy faces his fear of floating microphones during a performance
Damn this is good.
And you son, need that proverbial WAX cleaned out of your ears.
labries voice is so warm i love it. great bands here in time for us to hear, must be enjoyed
at the beginning of the performance I was reading the comments. A lot of misguided fanaticism around or what? this is an interpretation made by great musicians, although you are not as good as them (and this is quite improbable to be true, because there are just a bunch of musicians at this level in the world) think of what you write. I saw it, i was there, it was great ! NOT trying to be Floyd. Respect.
My two favourite singers, and Petrucci played a great take on the solo. Loved it.
the best 2 bands in the history of rock !!
Is that a joke?
Great brands they are! I appreciate the opinion, but the GREATEST band of ALL TIME is none other than RUSH!!!
+SammieDavidDeLuce Rush are gods and we all appreciate your opinion, but you are just watching two bands covering the greatest band in history of not only rock, but in history of music......
2 of the greatest singers of all time doing the greatest cover of Comfortably Numb ever! Bravo Geoff and James
James LaBrie Sounds great here.
That two guitar solo at the end is fabulous. That worths everything.
good until that queensryche guitarist joined in for solo no.2 and killed petrucci's aweseomeness
+axlrosea675 Was there a third guitarist because what i saw didn't match what i was hearing
+David stone Mike Stone was the other guitarist at the time; too bad DeGarmo wasn't there... out of all the QR members, he was probably the one most influenced by Pink Floyd.
definitely hear the influence on Mindcrime. de Garma WAS Queensryche
petrucci plays it with ZERO tonal variation, every note literally the same
I love how, at the five minute mark, you can tell how stoked Portnoy is to play this song. You can tell he and Petrucci truly love PF's work by their facial expressions while playing it.
What's his face screwing up on the lyrics drives me insane!
+Lisa M. Altemose oops
maybe its not controllable? me cant even controll my face when playing hard things for me with guitar... its music ur listening music not watchin his face lolss :D
Sorry, I wasn't talking about the face he makes, just an expression bcz I can't think of the guy's name. Just saying that when he messes up the lyrics, I practically go insane! LOL
ohh sorry my bad english :DD misunderstood? right word?
ohh... messes lyrics... whatever? its just music? and its live music this time... ofc i canb hear there some little misstakes but its real music
The original solo by Gilmour is one of the most memorable solos ever, and you did justice to it.
one of the best covers of this song i've heard
no one plays it like David Gilmour.
Well I quite like this version too...
Except for any guitarist that is employed by Roger Waters!
A. J. Everyday NO ONE.
John did a killer job, until it was ruined by the other guy. he tried to give John lessons, can you believe that looooool
You're right
No Gilmour, No Comfortably Numb
yeah and thats a fact! weather people like dream theater or not, they will always be number one. they are the music masters!
Geoff Tate, making sure he doesnt fuck up the lyrics the second time, "I cant explain, it's just not how I am.....hmm..hmm..I am" FAIL!!!
That was LaBrie
UFF ¡¡¡ Lo disfrute ¡¡¡¡¡¡ Que nivel ¡¡¡¡ Gracias por compartir .
Am I the only one that believes that John played the solo better than Gilmour himself?
u are. Go see a hearing specialist IMMEDIATELY
Yes u r the only one in the world... The only guitarist i can compare to Sir Dave is Frank Zappa...
Ishmam Ahmed Gilmour said it himself
Ashole Goit: You are an IDIOT.
Aside from the song here. That is two of the best drummers ever in rock, metal. Both are just out of this world skilled.....
2 of the best bands in the history of rock and roll covering one of the greatest songs ever written!
If you can't handle the complexity of Comfortably Numb don't do it as it'll only make it look like you can't play. Both Dream Theather n' Queensryche can play otherwise but they fail miserably at this one. Bad move...
yeah, and you're a virtuoso I'm sure
vos si que sos bolado ...... a really stupid comment boy....
Mike Gaylea is butt-hert
:'(
Much better than I expected !
solo slightly over-egged but the symphonic elements are just great.
Way to ruin a great song, I love Queensryche and Dream Theater, both are great bands, but this was really really bad.
With no questions asks,Two of the greatest bands playing this awesome song.....
I seen this tour in Boston and Long Island at Jones beach it was awesome!!! Nice summer night with a good buzz just loving life!!!
Saw these two great's at the auditorium de verdun in montreal many many moons ago. It was simply amazing!
i am a pink floyd fan too, but i feel really glad that this band cover this song
Queensryche has come full circle. First they play Silent Lucidity, which is their retelling of this song. Now they're playing Comfortably Numb!
I have seen Alex Live many times in the 80's. I was "Astonished" is the best way to describe it.
The best song around a world....Amazing replay...
@LastFreeManStanding I like the way you put it, never looked at it from that POV...
this was a great cover... nothing beats the original but this is as close u get... RESPECT DT
Wow!! thanks for posting this.very cool.
my 2 fav bands together playin my fav song ever cant get any better people!!!
One thing musicians love to do besides play their own songs, is to also have fun playing songs that they love and grew up listening to. It's obvious pink floyd has influenced greatly these musicians and the best way to honour them is to do a cover at one of their shows. Major respect indeed!!
the 2nd solo makes this cover amazing.
well done john...
very very very goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!! this song is very fantastic compliments dream theater and queenryche
amazing song. amazing singing. amazing bands. amazing solo.
perfect!!!
the chorus is magical!
best cover i've ever seen
finally someone who knows what he's saying... Nobody will ever play the solo as Gilmour does...It is simply not possible. It's like trying to copy a painting..It will surely look as a Rembrandt, but it will never be one . Cheers mate!
I dont know if they're number one, but they are music masters. One of the most talented bands of this generation...
glad you pay money to see this! I guess I waited for you tube and glad I did!
Being a HUGE Pink Floyd fan, I get very protective of their songs~~ THIS was nothing shy of SPECTACULAR!!
Best cover of this I've heard!
nothing can beat those two, gilmour has such an awesome voice
i love how they keep the solo's pretty close to the original and petrucci's solo is just freakin amazing. I realize they arent pink floyd and so they cant put the same emotion into it but they do a damn good job. And to the people who say petrucci has no emotion in his playing...you're idiots.
My hears thank you for posting this..
AMAZING. I love this song and to hear Dream Theater contribute to this live version WOW. Best I have ever heard. Geoff Tate is awesome. Petrucci? God on guitar my favorite living guitar player. I know all of his material.
Great combo of great bands

This is great - thanks!!!
john is so amazing they should make a new holiday just for him to honor his greatness.
Do you realize the level of talent on that stage at one time???????? Holy shit! The stoners don't get it, this was a bake anthem, but JESUS, that was loaded right there!
I loved it. Great cover.

Two amazing bands preforming one amazing song.... i must have died!
your right on the money with that call. apparently we all inherited the taste for REAL music. tc
the Floyd , Mostly Autumn and Queensryche ARE kings of ~~~ Comfortably Numb ~~~ Thank you sooo much !!!
Geoff tate canta muito, uma das mais belas vozes do metal. Sem ele na banda não vejo mais graça no Queensryche, ficou parecendo banda cover dela mesma.
Great performance... the solo is simply amazing, John owned it
Pink are the good inspiration to these two great bands. Perfect !
The guitar solo at the end of this song is always my favorite part.
hell yeah he is probably my favorite drummer and eddies my favorite guitarist
You've hammered the argument on the nail--
"However, I do believe that Petrucci's claim to guitar-fame is exactly his technical profficiency, as opposed to his compositional skill, which is mediocre in my opinion."
EXACTLY! Well done. Bravo!

this is a match made in heaven. Cooooooooool
Incredible, just incredible.
labries vocals are amazing.
This is gold
This song deserves only the best performance!!!
This is actually a pretty good cover from two killer bands and lead singers! Remember, this is the Queensryche & Dream Theater version, NOT Floyd's, so don't complain that it's "not like Floyd's" it's not supposed to be exactly like Floyd's, that's why it's a cover.

Oh my god I wish I was at this concert. And people say stairway to heaven has the most soul of any guitar solo.
really good job.. love this cover
Beautiful!!
It's funny when you think about it though, LaBrie is considered the bands "weak link", but hes one of the best vocalists out there today, speaks for the band as a whole if you ask me.
Even though all the members of Dream Theater pour their heart and soul into every song they make.
Amazing!!! James Labrie and Geoff tate my two favorite vocalist
what a cover..great!
"i cant explain you would not understand this is not how i am i have become comfortably numb" besides that great cover amazing guitar work
absolutely amazing
Yes they did it very very very well!!!!
they shared the vocals brilliantly, both got to use their strenghts
oh my god, queensrÿches first guitar solo.
oh my GOD, petrucci's first solo.
OH MY GOD THOSE DUAL GUITARS!
i think i'm actually gonna weep.
